Entertainment trade publication Variety has checked in with mainstream coverage of Monday's Raw recognizing 1,000 episodes. Included are quotes from WWE executive Stephanie McMahon on WWE changing with their audience, which has led to various social media initiatives. Variety noted WWE is planning to do everything short of allowing the audience determine the outcome of matches.
"We're going to use social media in a more enhanced fashion (beyond just promoting the product)," said Stephanie McMahon. "Our fans will affect some type of content in the show every week." She said part of the goal is to keep the audience "tuned into the broadcast for the entire three hours." ... Regarding softer TV ratings as more outlets for consumption increases, McMahon said, "Every property is struggling with that. As long as you are everywhere, you keep and grow your audience as well."
