Alex Shelley Talks About Career in NJPW, Thoughts of Retirement

Former TNA Impact Wrestling star Alex Shelley Tweeted the following about the injuries he's suffered in New Japan Pro Wrestling, as well as his future in the business:

"September 2012, my first @njpw1972 tour. 4 broken front teeth via rabbit clothesline from Rocky Romero. I could hear my teeth "Ping!" when they hit the guard rail and spit chunks out as I finished the match. Later, I could smell the burning and taste the dust when they ground down the shards to bond them when I went back to Detroit after the tour.

April 2013, partially paralyzed vocal cord via Prince Devitt lariat. Had to change some of the songs at band practice and now I sound like a full time smoker. Not counting the damage from the brutal dropkicks to the face.

June 2013, slightly fractured skull via Plancha from Taka Michinoku. Spinal fluid actually leaked out my nose for a week after and I had I idea of the severity until I went to the doctor weeks later. Wrestled again that night against Devitt in a dream come true.

Finally, September 2013, severe sciatica via Liger Bomb from @taichi0319. Bad enough injury that I had to let a bunch of people down and forego my chance to become a 3 time IWGP Jr. Tag Champion. Had a hard time walking, couldn't workout, and totally rethought my life.

I don't consider myself tough, persay. I just really love wrestling. And @njpw1972 is wrestling. I was "orphaned", by my choice, and NJPW gave me a home. So while I waited in the doc's office, I really thought that 2012-2013 was my favorite year of my career. I grew the most as a wrestler, I (hopefully) won over @njpw1972 fans and proved to everyone I could adapt and learn and go in the ring. This was the first time I thought "Maybe I need to get out." So, understandably, I was pretty scared when I went in again last week. But nope. I am supposed to continue wrestling, I think. Cleared to lift weights, burnout on cardio, and should make a full recovery. :)"

Rumor Mill - WWE Staying Away From ANY Recent TNA Talent Including Ric Flair

Alex Shelley, Velvet Sky, Devon, Angelina Love & Ric Flair have been names that are linked to going to the WWE in recent weeks. According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE is "steering clear of any and all recently affiliated TNA Wrestling talent while the two grappling organizations do battle in court."

This is all stemming back from the recent TNA-WWE lawsuit still going on regarding TNA's contract information & WWE's use of it.

A good example of this is through Matt Morgan who decided to appear at a TNA house show on Saturday which appears as though WWE didn't rehire Morgan.

"Nobody is talking about Shelley and they won't even officially talk to Flair even though his non-compete is up," said Dave Meltzer on the official Wrestling Observer website.

TNA is also looking for cost cutting measures by "restructuring talent contracts" when they expired. This is what is said to be behind the departures of Devon and Velvet Sky.

Rumor Mill - Former TNA Wrestler in Talks with WWE

Alex Shelley has been in "serious talks" with WWE according to a new report by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Shelley, 29, has not signed a contract and is booked in September for the upcoming New Japan tour. His signing with WWE was described as being "close" and "imminent." This would make Shelley the first TNA talent to agree to a deal with WWE since the lawsuit filed by TNA against WWE accusing them of trying to raid talent. It should be noted that Shelley's deal with TNA expired on his own and he was not named in the lawsuit (Ric Flair was the only one named in the lawsuit). The belief is that Shelley's TNA deal expired on 5/21, just a few days before TNA filed their lawsuit against WWE on 5/24.

Chris Sabin Thinking Gold Heading Into Victory Road

When he started working for TNA Wrestling seven years ago, Chris Sabin envisioned himself as a singles wrestler as most guys do. He had already been doing that for various independent promotions and then excelled in TNA's X Division, winning that championship four times.

But things took a different turn for him in 2007 when he began pairing up with Alex Shelley as a tag-team. The duo is still together as the Motor City Machineguns and have become one of the most dynamic teams in all of wrestling...More?

Kevin Nash Breaks Character and Cuts a Promo on Chris Sabin's Injury

TNA wrestler Chris Sabin suffered a concussion at the Impact taping on Wednesday. He was working a tag match with Alex Shelley against Team 3D when he landed awkwardly while taking a move. A source reports that Sabin told people afterward he was out cold during the match, but he quickly regained his composure and somehow finished the match.

Kevin Nash interrupted and told production to edit his comments. He yelled at Team 3D for not aborting the planned finish because he felt Sabin's health should have been the first priority. He felt that as veterans, Brother Ray and Devon should have made that call on the fly. He also felt that someone from production could have given a cue to the referee to end the match.

Christopher Daniels Unmasked

Christopher Daniels has spent the better part of the last year in mask – as both Curry Man, and then as a sub for the injured Kaz playing the role of Suicide. Last month, Daniels, as himself, made a big return as part of Jeff Jarrett's Team at the Lockdown Pay Per View. TNA's got a new Pay Per View this Sunday, May 24th called Sacrifice. It will feature TNA World Champion Mick Foley defending his title against three other men – Kurt Angle, Sting and Jeff Jarrett. As of this moment, Daniels doesn't have a match booked for the show, but we're sure something will go down involving Daniels, Suicide and the Motor City Machineguns (Alex Shelly and Chris Sabin)...More?

Q&A with Alex Shelley

TNA News

TNA wanted 2 Cold Scorpio to play the role of Rasheed Lucius Consequences Creed as a new member for 'Team Pacman'. No word on why it didn't go down but that's definitely who they wanted. Styles and Tomko won the tag titles anyways so that's the route they are going. No more 'Pacman'.

There will be at tournament on iMPACT! based on eliminations from the battle royal at Bound for Glory. It was setup so it would be Young vs. James Storm, Junior Fatu vs. Roode, Chris Sabin vs. Alex Shelley, and Frankie Kazarian vs. Lance Hoyt.

Before the TNA Bound for Glory PPV The Motor City Machineguns of Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin d. Joey Matthews (Joey Mercury) & Johnny Swinger (Johnny Parisi).

Kevin Nash is going to be wrestling in TNA at the next PPV - Genesis. Yay. This also means TNA offered him more money to stick around.

The Amazing Kong is now known as Awesome Kong.

Look for Matt Morgan vs. Tomko, possibly at the iMPACT! tapings this week and Sting vs. Kevin Nash at TNA Genesis.
