Kaliqo's Unforgiven Picks, Predictions & Speculations

WWE Diva's Championship: Michelle McCool (c) vs. Maryse
I love the Diva Championship belt, but I am not interested in seeing these two "wrestle" at all. I do wish that wweshop.com would sell replica belt buckles of the belt. I would buy that.

World Tag Team Championship Match: Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Cryme Tyme
This should be a good one. Ted DiBiase is definitely the star of this group. Since Cryme Tyme is over as faces I think the titles should stay with the current champs.

ECW Championship 'Scramble' Match: Mark Henry (c) vs. Matt Hardy vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Finlay vs. The Miz
Oh God ECW. I just don't get it. Mark Henry is pitiful in the ring. I'd like to see Matt with the title. He's earned it.

World Heavyweight Championship 'Scramble' Match: CM Punk (c) vs. JBL vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Kane vs. Batista
I'm sure CM Punk will retain the title, but as long as they don't put it on JBL or Mysterio, I'm a happy camper.

WWE Championship 'Scramble' Match: Triple H (c) vs. MVP vs. Brian Kendrick vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin
I would like to see Jeff get the title and re-new his feud with Triple H. A Shelton Benjamin/Triple H feud would be good also.

Unsanctioned Match: Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels
I don't think it matters who wins this match because it is going to be amazing regardless of the outcome. I would expect Shawn to get the pin.

Bourne, Knox shine on ECW

Chavo Guerrero (El Paso, Texas) & Bam Neely (Robbinsdale, Minn.) vs. Evan Bourne (St. Louis, Mo.) & Ricky Ortiz (Paradise Valley, Ariz.)

Striker points out all the talent that has come out of Robbinsdale. I'm sure a lot of the audience had no idea who the likes of Rick Rude and Curt Hennig are. He also points out that Ortiz is the only WWE superstar to ever play in the XFL. Now that's interesting!

After a back-and-forth beginning, Guerrero and Neely gain control of Ortiz, working him over with headlocks and the like. Eventually, he gets the tag to Bourne who goes to work on Neely. Bourne is on fire here and catches Neely an incredibly awesome roll-up for the win. Winners via pinfall: Evan Bourne & Ricky Ortiz.

Mike Knox Promo
We're back and Mike Knox is joining us in the ring. After his little backstage promo last week, I must admit I'm interested in a follow-up.

Knox says he's here to expose the fraud called Finlay. He tells everyone to roll the footage. They go to the SummerSlam promo of he and Hornswaggle dancing in a park at a picnic.

Knox says Finlay used to be one of the toughest men in the business. Now, he spends his time dancing around with a Leprechaun. Finlay, not in wrestling gear, interrupts and he and Hornswaggle head down to the ring.

Finlay says he likes to have fun and he loves his family and if Knox has a problem with him or his family, then take a shot. Finlay says Knox better knock him out because if he doesn't, he'll find out if he's gone soft or not. Knox backs away and exits the ring to a "you suck" chant.

Worst in-ring performers in the WWE

JBL. I could tolerate his run as a main event guy on Smackdown a few years back, and even though you can easily argue he should never have been elevated to the position, he did a decent job with it. From there, he was great alongside Michael Cole calling Smackdown on a Friday night. But when he returned to the ring and moved over to Raw, his whole act just sucked. Yes we know he can talk on the mic, but ol’ Jumbo Bitchtits Layfield has been awful in the ring.

Chavo Guerrero. Just so dull, so boring, to the point where you have to change the channel when he’s on screen. There’s no charisma, no spectacular moves, no interesting character work to keep you interested, yet unlike a Khali where he’s pushed as a freakshow element where you don’t really expect great matches, Chavo is put in positions on the card where you expect traditionally great workers to be put in there and he just sucks all the air out of the room.

Mike Knox. Trust me, The Great Khali ran him close. However, at least Khali has a selling point (albeit a chokeslam and a headbutt) and although both Khali and Knox are poor, Knox wins it for me. Knox doesn’t have one move worth even remembering. Kelly Kelly’s old boyfriend? He wishes. Get to the indies, or a wrestling school. Now.

Snitsky. He manages to drag anyone - and I mean anyone - down to his quality of working…which isn’t any good.

The Great Khali. Khali remains consistently poor, but during 2008 he has been further dogged by injuries, and has not had the surprisingly entertaining series with John Cena to redeem him somewhat that he had last year.

Triple H v. Chavo Guerrero SmackDown-7/11/08

The live crowd was really into Triple H. Huge pop before and after the match. They've been more lively than J.R. made them out to be in his blog. It's amazing how much fresher he is thanks to the change of scenery. I think a big part of it is that he's not being overexposed on the mic. He took part in the VIP Lounge segment last week, but even then his comments were short and to the point. In other words, he's not being asked to cut the type of long, draining promos that became a turnoff on Raw. Don't get me wrong, Hunter is good on the mic, but sometimes less is more. - Jason Powell

Status of Batista & Chavo Guerrero

Rey Mysterio took on Chavo Guerrero in an "I Quit" match at tonight's SmackDown taping. The match went about 20 minutes and said to be pretty good. Sports Illustrated reported on Thursday that Guerrero received Somatropin (HGH), Nandrolone (an anabolic steroid) and Anastrozole (to ward off breast tissue development after using steroids) between April 2005 and May 2006 through the Signature Pharmacy drug firm. Because Guerrero purchased drugs over the Internet, he is in violation of the WWE Wellness Policy, thus meaning that he is subject to suspension. Considering that Guerrero wrestled in an "I Quit" match as opposed to a regular match, it looks this was WWE's way of writing Guerrero out of the storylines for the time being. Guerrero definitely looks to be on the suspended list.

One wrestler who has apparently been cleared of any wrong doing is Batista. He appeared at tonight's SmackDown taping in a tag match with Kane as they took on The Great Khali and Finlay. He also did a run-in to fend off Khali, who had attacked Mysterio after his "I Quit" match with Chavo Guerrero. To further cement Batista's good standing status, Theodore Long came out soon after and announced a change in the SmackDown main event at Unforgiven. He said that Khali wil be defending his belt in a triple threat match. It will be Khali vs. Mysterio vs. Batista. ESPN.com reported on Thursday that Batista was a client of the busted Signature Pharmacy firm. However, his name was never implicated in the back-breaking article by Sports Illustrated. It appears as though that Batista has been cleared.

WWE Free Event

WWE has announced that they will be holding a free event on Venice Beach in California on August 18th. The company will actually be setting a ring up on the beach and will have a number of autograph signings, giveaways, and even some matches beginning at 10:30 AM Pacific. The idea behind it is to promote this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, much how WWE does the AXXESS events to promote WrestleMania each year. Talent scheduled to work the special event includes Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, Torrie Wilson, Maria, Chris Masters, Chuck Palumbo, Daivari, Jimmy Wang Yang and Val Venis.
