Update on Hero/Castagnoli and Status with ROH

Although they are being advertised for the Ring of Honor TV tapings for Sinclair next month on 8/13 in Chicago, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli are in the midst of a pre-signing procedure with WWE of getting a full phsyical and having backgrounds checked. So it would be appear they are WWE bound. As reported earlier, Hero and Castagnoli are among a group of people including Colt Cabana that have yet to sign new deals with ROH in preparation for the TV debut on Sinclair.

Claudio Castagnoli Comments on Possibly Signing with WWE

"I think I would prefer to go as a package with Chris Hero. But I would be comfortable working there on my own. We have a the unique ability to perform in a singles environment and in a tag environment. I think we definitely have very good chemistry and we have greater potential as a team."

"I think we could survive in the right circumstances. We have the tools to flourish in any wrestling company. We both have unique abilities to talk. Both Chris (Hero) and I are both really good singles wrestlers and tag wrestlers so I think we bring a lot to the table there. And the next step is to bring in actual teams (into the WWE) and not just two singles-wrestlers coming together. That's what's missing - actual teams that look alike and seem to have been a team for a long time."

Rumor Mill - Kings of Wrestling Status with ROH

It was previously reported that the Kings of Wrestling (Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero) recently had a private try out with WWE officials. WWE officials were impressed, and extended the former Ring of Honor tag team champions contract offers. They also have offers on the table from Ring of Honor, and the company wanted all long-terms deals to be signed yesterday, so that future booking plans could be implemented. According to Dave Meltzer, it is believed the tag team did not sign with ROH, and the assumption was that they are leaning towards signing with WWE.

Austin Aries: Wrestlers Leaving ROH is a "Natural Process of this Business"

With former ROH mainstay Nigel McGuinness recently debuting as Desmond Wolfe on Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and Bryan Danielson, another longtime ROH favorite, reportedly getting ready to debut in World Wrestling Entertainment, fans are wondering what it means for the fate of ROH. But Aries, just as Claudio Castagnoli said the last time ROH was coming to the Southland, said fans need not worry.

"It's just a natural process of this business and especially for this promotion," Aries, of Minneapolis, said. "You can go back and look historically. We've had a lot of people, including myself, who have left for other places and the company has continued to thrive. ROH is built around the best young, hungry talent in wrestling, and there's always going to be guys who are willing to step up when opportunities open up. We're trying to get in the position where we can be financially feasible for guys to stay and make a good career in ROH. The name of the game is making money. This is a business, and guys who are going to get an opportunity would be foolish not to take it."

Claudio Castagnoli Speaks Out on the Sharmell vs. Jenna Morasca Debacle

Claudio Castagnoli posted what he referred to as a "rant" (I call it the truth) about the Sharmell vs. Jenna Morasca match at the TNA pay-per-view Victory Road:

"...Why am I writing all this? Well after reading so much about it I had to see it myself. Some of my students at the CHIKARA wrestle factory warned me and told me I shouldn't, but I watched it anyway. And I’ll never get those 8 minutes of my life back. If I would have paid for this I would be so upset!

Have you figured it out yet? I’m talking about Jenna Morasca vs. Sharmell match from Victory Road. Thanks to youtube.com I was able to watch it for free. Honestly I think you should get paid to watch this! My condolences to all those who actually paid to see that crap.

Sharmell, I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt here. Not that she looked particularly good in this match, but how could she?

Now what was so insulting? Well the fact that this chick that’s from a reality show that needs absolutely no talent can get a job in the wrestling business and being featured on PPV making a mockery out of the sport I love!

Starting at the horrible entrance to the horrible slap right before Kong splashed her, you’re a disgrace to the ring. Did you think if you act like a stripper people would not care what you do in the ring?"...More?

Take a moment and read his entire "rant". If you haven't seen the match, click here.
