Big Name To Appear As Special Referee For Upcoming WWE NXT Title Match, Adam Cole Comments

WWE has announced Adam Cole vs. WWE NXTChampion Drew McIntyre for the November 17th non-televised live event from San Antonio, Texas. WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels will be the special referee. This event takes place during Survivor Series weekend, just one night before the "Takeover: WarGames" event.

Below is the full announcement:

NXT Champion Drew McIntyre faces Adam Cole for the title in San Antonio on Nov. 17, with Shawn Michaels as special guest referee

Adam Cole and The Undisputed ERA have vowed to shock the system of NXT, and the unlawful collective will get a chance to do just that when Cole challenges NXT Champion Drew McIntyre for the title at NXT Live in San Antonio on Friday, Nov. 17.

Not only that, but San Antonio native son and WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels will serve as the match's special guest referee.

The newly confirmed NXT Title Match is slated for NXT's return to the Aztec Theatre, just one night before NXT TakeOver: WarGames comes to the Toyota Center in Houston.

Cole, who made his shocking NXT debut in August by ambushing McIntyre moments after he won the NXT Title, recently commented on his championship ambitions in an interview with WWE.com.

"As far as Drew, he's an impressive athlete," Cole said. "Drew had been chasing that NXT Championship, and he finally achieved his dream. I almost feel bad for the guy. I feel bad that after all that hard work, all the sacrifice, it's going to be taken away by me. And there's not a damn thing he can do about it."

Shawn Daivari Speaks to the Danger of Spinning your Wheels in WWE Too Long

I can't be misused. I have to be booked correctly because I can't jeopardize my career on the independents. If you looked at my calendar April through mid June, I haven't had more than three days off in a row and when you think about it my last prominent TV run was in 2008 with WWE, if you don't count TNA, whereas I know guys that have been on TV more recently, won more belts than I have that can't buy a booking now. That's something I'm really aware of.

"Tyler Reks is an example. Next year he'll have been there one more year than I had. I was there four years, he'll have been there five and when they let him go, nobody's gonna give him a substantial booking of a plane ticket, a hotel room, food expenses and promote him. They'd rather get a Hacksaw Jim Duggan or Chris Masters. If you hang on for too long when your wheels are spinning, you might make a bit more money in WWE, but when you leave you won't get another booking in this business. When you become shit on TV, that's what you're perceived as.

"Drew McIntyre is getting dangerously close to that point. If he hangs on another year and doesn't do anything worth a f---, I'm gonna see a hard time for a promoter to call him and offer him a $1000 dollar booking, $400 plane ticket, $100 hotel room, advertising. You're talking almost a $2000 investment hoping that say 200 people at $10 are gonna come out to see Drew and thats not including the cost of the building, paying the other talent. When you render yourself invaluable, its hard. Whereas if he'd seen the writing on the wall after the stuff with Vince McMahon on TV, and quit then, he could go places and people would remember him as the Scottish guy on SmackDown that did all the good shit, Vince's chosen one or whatever."

Tiffany Cleared of All Assault Charges

WWE Diva, Tiffany aka Taryn Terrell has been cleared of all charges in the assault case filed against her following an incident between her and husband, Drew McIntyre.

A spokesperson for the LA City Attorney’s office told Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper, “No further legal action is anticipated in this case.”

WWE suspended the SmackDown Diva pending the result of her hearing which took place at the beginning of this month. Tiffany is now free to return to WWE television after over a month of absence.

Update: Tiffany Arrested and Suspended By WWE

WWE Suspends Tiffany Following Incident at Hotel

WWE Diva, Tiffany was suspended by the company following an alleged altercation in a hotel where WWE had booked the wrestlers for this past Tuesday’s SmackDown taping, reports PWInsider.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that there was an incident between Tiffany and real life husband, Drew McIntyre, that resulted in police being called to the scene. Tiffany (Taryn Terrell) may or may not have been arrested. “We have conflicting reports over whether Terrell was arrested by the San Jose PD,” writes Johnson. Terrell was sent home after the incident.

There was some speculation that Terrell was due to compete this Sunday at SummerSlam in a Divas tag team match, though the match has yet to be made official by WWE.

More on the Wade Barrett/Drew McIntyre Visa Problems

June 29, 2010

Update on Wade Barrett/Drew McIntyre Visa Problems

Word is that WWE creative has been told not to expect Wade Barrett or Drew McIntyre back until after SummerSlam in August. It's still possible they could be back sooner.

This is bad news with Barrett being the leader of The Nexus stable and with the new report that McIntyre was scheduled to win the SmackDown briefcase at WWE's Money in the Bank pay-per-view. A fan saw McIntyre in Scotland this weekend so apparently he's back home also.

There has been some speculation that WWE Champion Sheamus may get caught up in the same work visa situation but the feeling from one WWE source is that either WWE caught it on Sheamus' end while missing it on Barrett & McIntyre's end, or Sheamus was proactive in bringing the situation to WWE's attention and they handled it without thinking about Drew or Wade.

Rumor Mill - Wade Barrett & Drew McIntyre Currently Unable to Work for WWE

Wade Barrett, leader of RAW's Nexus stable, has been pulled from WWE TV and live events because his work visa has expired and he's no longer eligible to work in the United States. Barrett has returned to the UK where he's waiting on a new visa to be cleared.

Drew McIntyre is going through the same problems. You may remember from SmackDown where WWE started a storyline saying Drew was being deported. This isn't far from real life but it's possible that McIntyre is still here in the States. Regardless, he's also unable to work right now. If McIntyre is still here, it's possible that he can stay while a green card application is approved since he's married to WWE Diva Tiffany.

There's no timetable yet on when Barrett or McIntyre can return.
