Matt Sydal Being Released From Prison

The former Evan Bourne (Matt Sydal) is expected to be released from prison in Japan on December 6th. He's been incarcerated since late September for possession of liquid cannabis after customs found the substance in a hidden pipe. Sydal was convicted on drug charges in mid-October and sentenced to prison but it appears he's coming home early.

Matt Sydal Arrested In Japan For Drug Possession

Former WWE Tag Team Champion and current New Japan Pro Wrestling star Matt Sydal (Evan Bourne) was arrested in Japan on September 23rd while entering the country. Police found 2.12 grams of liquid marijuana in his possession at the Kansai Airport in Osaka Bay. The liquid marijuana was presumably to be used in an e-cig.

Sydal was convicted on October 13th but there are no details on his punishment yet. This could mean the end of his wrestling career in Japan due to their strict drug laws. He is facing deportation. This could mean the end of his career in NJPW.

Sydal missed several NJPW dates last month and noted on Twitter that he had an issue at the border, causing him to stay in Hawaii. However, this arrest indicates that Sydal never left Japan.

Rumor Mill - More on the Evan Bourne-Triple H Story

People close to Evan Bourne say the stories about him having heat because of R-Truth's suspension and the two drug test failures were unrelated. Regarding last week's story, one claim is that it was Bourne who went to Triple H and apologized for failing the drug test - not Triple H confronting Bourne.

Rumor Mill - Backstage Heat on Evan Bourne for "Throwing One of the Boys Under the Bus"

Wrestlingnewsworld.com is reporting that there is nuclear backstage heat on Evan Bourne in WWE over “ratting out” R-Truth for smoking Spice with him at a party they were both attending. Bourne was caught and suspended but R-Truth’s suspended was delayed. Many assumed this was due to the fact that Truth was booked with The Miz to face The Rock & John Cena at Survivor Series on November 20, 2011. Bourne was suspended on November 1, 2011 and Truth’s suspension wasn’t announced until November 22, 2011.

WNW claims that Triple H confronted Bourne backstage at a recent Raw Supershow (believed to be 12/19). Apparently Hunter, along with others, “chewed him out” for ratting out R-Truth.

Bourne is considered a locker room outcast right now because he threw one of the boys under the bus for no reason. There is zero heat on R-Truth, with all of it on Bourne. Last week, Vince McMahon met with Evan Bourne about it. It is not believed that Bourne is in jeopardy of being fired but he’s been chewed out by several people.

Rumor Mill - Evan Bourne Not The Only "User" But Only One Suspended

Evan Bourne wasn't the only one who "should" have been suspended according to reports by The Wrestling Observer newsletter.

It is believed that Bourne was suspended for violating the company's wellness policy courtesy of smoking fake marijuana, believed to be Spice. The word going around in WWE is that Bourne used the drug at a party with other WWE talents who were using it as well. The talents on the roster who also smoked the fake marijuana are said to be higher up on the roster.

Internal talks have been on the fact that a mid-carder gets suspended for doing something that a main eventer does for which he/she is not punished.

Bourne Finds His Star Identity

As World Cup fever starts to grip us, we were in a football frame of mind as we watched Raw this week. The show felt like the wrestling equivalent of a 1-0 win. It was a victory, the team were solid and dependable — it just was not very spectacular.

The star performer was Evan Bourne, perhaps the Aaron Lennon of the Raw brand. He is an exciting, quick talent who many would like to see given time to shine...More?

WrestleMania goes head-to-head with Beatlemania tonight in Glendale, with the legendary Paul McCartney blowing the dust off any number of his favorite moments with the act you've known for all these years at Jobing.com Arena, while across the way, large men in tights will engage in heated battle scenes.
