Female wrestlers do it for release, entertainment, camaraderie

A group of women in their 20s sits on the floor in an Allston Pilates studio, simultaneously stretching and poring over notebooks, like some sort of sorority study group.

Then they begin cursing like truckers. And then they start throwing each other around.

“Does anybody remember the neck-breaker?” someone asked.

This is the Boston League of Women Wrestlers, a group of tattooed, foul-mouthed women who get out of their day jobs and come together for some grappling and camaraderie. It’s not Olympic-style Greco Roman wrestling, but the character-driven, made for entertainment, thrown through tables brand of wrestling that resembles World Wresting Entertainment...More?
