With relatively little pre-match build-up and free of gimmicks, Michaels and Undertaker battled in an epic exhibition that left viewers gasping for air from all the near-pins and acrobatic spots. Ultimately, Undertaker prevailed and pushed his WrestleMania record to 17-0, but Michaels reconfirmed his status as Mr. WrestleMania because of his long history of brilliant performances at sports entertainment's grandest event.
"The great thing about last year was that every person in that stadium and every person watching on pay per view had a real emotional investment in each individual in the ring — and you can't always have that," Michaels said. "But you've got, between the two us, 40 years of WWE experience, where people know darn near everything about both of you, and I think that's truly what made it special.
