Jury Convicts Drunk Driver in Nick Adenhart's Death
The defendant who killed Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and two other passengers was convicted of murder Monday by a jury. Angels' Nick Adenhart pitched 6.0 innings and earned a no-decision in his only start in the 2009 season.
Andrew Gallo, 23, was also found guilty of hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol and causing great bodily injury. Gallo, who had a previous DUI conviction, faces 50 years to life in state prison at his scheduled sentencing on Dec. 10.
Adenhart, a promising young Angels pitchers, was killed when his car collided with Gallo's in April 2009 in Fullerton, Calif. Courtney Stewart, 20, and Henry Pearson, 25, also died. The 22-year old pitched six scoreless innings in his season debut just hours earlier that night. He was from Hagerstown MD.
