As Major League Baseball contorts itself through this last grim spasm of the Steroid Era and replaces Hank Aaron with Barry Bonds in the record book, for one glorious day our nation can turn its jaundiced eyes to Cooperstown. There, two of the classiest men in the history of sports will remind us that incredible individual achievements needn't be accompanied by boorish individualism.
It is poetic that Ripken and Gwynn, exemplars of a bygone era, are entering the Baseball Hall of Fame together...More?
