Rumor Mill - WWE Working On An Undertaker Origin Movie
According to pwtnsider.com, WWE is working on a film project that would work as an Undertaker origin story, explaining how The Undertaker we all know today came to be.
The project has no tenative title yet and is still in the developmental stage. It's likely that the movie will be a straight-to-DVD project.
Brett Favre Draws Big
Brett Favre's return to Lambeau Field aired to 91 percent of the country, topping last week's Vikings-Steelers game (also on Fox) that went to 85 percent. The network drew an 18.3 overnight rating, Fox's best national game rating since Week 13 of the 2006 season. The Fox doubleheader averaged a 15.0 rating -- the network's highest doubleheader in 13 years -- and its Fox NFL Sunday pregame show drew a season-high 4.1 rating, the show's best performance in six years.

TNA Wrestlers Frustrated with Creative
Frankie Kazarian (a/k/a Suicide) asked for his release at the last round of TNA television because he's been frustrated with his creative direction. TNA management initially agreed to grant him the release, but A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels worked to soothe over the situation, so the release was never finalized.
A short time later, an upset Vince Russo approached A.J. Styles. Russo was upset because he had heard that Styles told Dixie Carter that he thought it would be a good idea if there were a wrestler on the creative team. Russo blew up and then Styles returned fire about being booked as a weak champion.
Although it appeared that Styles and Russo had cooled off following their backstage blowup, the word is that there were still some hard feelings over the weekend. Styles, Daniels, and Kazarian have expressed frustration to friends, and the bulk of their issues seem to be with Russo.

Linda McMahon's Campaign Issues Response to FEC Violation Complaint
Ed Patru, spokesman for the McMahon campaign, had this to say in response:
"It's a baseless accusation and the campaign has complied with all FEC rules and regulations. This latest attack from Chris Dodd speaks volumes about just how worried he is about Linda's campaign. Chris Dodd has an enormous credibility problem, and one of the reasons people don't trust him is because of his apparent coordination with AIG executives in which he gave carte blanche to his political supporters instead of regulating them, and then arranged behind closed doors to have them receive millions in taxpayer-funded bonuses. It's troubling that Chris Dodd's political apparatus seems more concerned with watching wrestling videos on the Internet than restoring trust in government."
Dems file McMahon-WWE Complaint
Connecticut Democrats have filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission charging GOP Senate candidate Linda McMahon's campaign illegally colluded with the WWE, founded by husband Vince, to remove offensive wrestling videos from YouTube.
The complaint alleges that the WWE pulled the videos after Democrats allied with Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) complained that the company's hugely popular events feature "simulated rape" and other deeply non-PC shenanigans...More?

Will Hulk Make an Impact?
Just what does Hulk Hogan's jump to TNA mean for the company and its loyal fans — and should his former boss Vince McMahon panic just yet?
There's no denying the signing of wrestling legend Hogan and Eric Bischoff is a major coup for TNA president Dixie Carter. But it does seem to be a backward step for the company as current storylines and booking concepts seemed to be pushing the younger roster members to the fore.
With Jeff Jarrett gone and TNA now seemingly cashing in on the huge amount of free publicity Hogan will bring, it's only a matter of time before old wounds open and we see a new version of WCW unfold before us. If played right by all, this high-profile deal could benefit both parties hugely.
However, Carter and Co need to remember that while we all love a nostalgia trip, it's the homegrown stars and established TNA acts we tune in for each week...More?

Classic Movie "Night and the City" Captured Wrestling's Murky Fascination
More than half a century before Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, there was Jules Dassin's 1950 film noir classic Night and the City, about a two-bit American hustler trying to take over the wrestling scene in London. The images of that movie, flawed but compelling, still have relevance for wrestling fans today -- especially via the memorable performances of the legendary Stanislaus Zbyszko and Mike Mazurki (the wrestler-character actor who would go on to found the old-timers association, the Cauliflower Alley Club).
Night and the City has been restored in a newly remastered Criterion DVD, and is highly recommended for wrestling fans and film connoisseurs alike...More?

SmackDown Results: SmackDown for Survival
Following a controversial victory by The SmackDown Seven this past Sunday, co-captains Jericho and Kane both attempted to collect a golden opportunity from their SmackDown General Manager. As a result, Theodore Long announced that the two Superstars would face each other, with the winner being inserted into the World Title Match at Survivor Series between World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker and Big Show.
When the smoked cleared at the end of the night, it was the first-ever Undisputed WWE Champion who reigned supreme over The Big Red Machine, executing the Codebreaker as Kane was descending from the top rope. The huge victory propelled Jericho into an explosive Triple Threat World Heavyweight Championship Match at Survivor Series. Full results.

Sports & Entertainment & More…
Professional Wrestling is not “just” sports/athletic contest to determine who is ultimately “better”, nor “simply” escapist entertainment, (nor a definitive “morality play”). Professional Wrestling presents an epic battle between almost mythical personas, partly human and partly immortal; a battle that is intense and primal, violent and vicious, at times funny and at times tragic – yet ultimately irresolvable and perpetual, stubbornly refusing to provide a simple “answer” as is common in other forms of sports and entertainment – reaching to the depths of our psyches, and our innermost secret fears and desires.
Understanding the power of Wrestling from this vantage point, ring characters such as Triple H, Randy Orton, Sting, Awesome Kong, Beth Phoenix – and their peers and the many who paved the way for them – are much more than athletes and entertainers; they are closer to living depictions of the Greek gods and goddesses (or Jungian archetypes); who may be seen live, on TV or in PPV’s; and are neither limited to seasonal competition nor restricted to a particular television or movie production. They compete, they entertain, and they psychologically entrance week after week, day after day...More?

Talking Evil With Father James Mitchell
ust a day away from Halloween, there is no telling what kind of ghouls and goblins will be lurking in the shadows. James Mitchell can personally attest to this, as he's managed several of them. After all, it takes evil to know evil...More?

Kofi Kingston Explains Why He Lost the Accent
"I was actually born in Ghana, West Africa," Kingston said. "As far as the whole Jamaican thing is actually concerned, growing up I actually loved everything about Jamaica. I loved the food, the culture, the laid-back attitude. When I came to the WWE initially I wanted to come out to something that attributed both my love for wrestling and the Jamaican heritage."
"I wanted to come out to something unique and something people had never seen before. But at a certain point it becomes about being real and true to yourself, as opposed to playing a character. You look at guys like Triple H. When he first started out he was Hunter Hearst Helmsley and before that he was Terra Ryzing - I don't know if a lot of people know that."
"Stone Cold Steve Austin was Stunning Steve Austin before he became Stone Cold. The Rock was Rocky Maivia before he became The Rock. Shawn Michaels was a Rocker before he became the Heartbreak Kid. I think in wrestling and the WWE you see a trend of guys who make transitions. And I think for me I'm in that transition stage into coming into my own."...More?

WWE Superstars Results: Can’t Hide the Truth
The Hart Dynasty and R-Truth may have stood together victorious as part of Team SmackDown at WWE Bragging Rights, but on “WWE Superstars,” Friday night’s rapping Superstar denied David Hart Smith & Tyson Kidd the opportunity to achieve victory again. For the last several weeks, Cryme Tyme and The Hart Dynasty have proven to be evenly matched, and it was the variable of their partners that tipped the scales in one team’s favor on this time. In the end, Truth’s speed and agility were too much, allowing him to pick up the pin over Kidd and have his hand raised with Cryme Tyme. Full results.

Lenny Montana Was A Wrestler Before He Died So Well in "The Godfather"
A memorable death scene has been a staple of stage and screen through the years, from Hamlet to Darth Vader. And it's not much of a leap to say one of the greatest death scenes ever was hitman Luca Brasi's strangulation in The Godfather. But did you know Brasi was played by ex-wrestler Lenny Montana?
The story of Montana's switch to acting and the death scene are equally fascinating -- far more than his professional wrestling career...More?
