Video: Jim Cornette On If Triple H Will Take Over WWE After Vince McMahon

Change to Ring of Honor Creative

Pwinsider.com is reporting that Hunter "Delirious" Johnson has taken over as the head of Ring of Honor's creative direction effective immediately. The ROH locker room was informed on Saturday at the promotion's Rahway, NJ debut.

Jim Cornette and ROH came to a mutual decision on the change I am told. Cornette will remain with the company in a backstage role and will assist Johnson as well as working on production and logistics.

Cornette will be written out of ROH storylines with an angle where he was attacked backstage by an irate Jay Lethal in the fallout of the no contest with Kevin Steen in Rahway. ROH will be running stories on their website to explain the changes with Cornette's exit from his authority figure role.

Jim Cornette Gives His Thoughts On WWE's Future

Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s promotion in September 2010 to Senior Advisor and then to EVP, Talent in August 2011 made official what was already informally apparent: Vince McMahon’s son-in-law will one day run the sports entertainment empire. Speaking to Power Slam Magazine, Jim Cornette comments on whether Levesque is qualified to succeed McMahon as head honcho of WWE.

“Nobody’s qualified to replace McMahon,” says Cornette. “Vince is one of a kind, a guy who will never come along again.

“Triple H is a student of the business, but he’s still got his own little quirks. He’s Vince’s son-in-law, and he’s being groomed for the spot because he thinks in large part like Vince McMahon in terms of what a star is supposed to look like: a jacked-up bodybuilder. So, some things are not going to change. He’s probably going to bring a more youthful approach to it, although [Triple H is] in his early 40s. So, he’s not exactly youthful—but Vince is 66.

“So, no: nobody’s qualified to replace Vince. [Triple H] might do an okay job. But, personally, I think when General Patton [Vince] passes on, I think they’re in trouble. [WWE is] always going to exist because they have a lot of money in the bank and they’ve grown into such a global company, but I don’t think there’s going to be any giant ground broken or revolutionary things done after Vince is gone.”

Ring of Honor Announces a Two Day Training Seminar

For the first time ever, Ring of Honor will be holding a special two-day tryout camp and seminar on Saturday and Sunday, November 12th and 13th at ROH’s headquarters and wrestling academy in suburban Philadelphia. This camp will provide those who attend the rare opportunity to be seen and evaluated by officials and pro wrestlers from Ring of Honor. The seminar will be organized by ROH’s top officials as well as Jim Cornette.

“Our one day seminars that we have held in the past have all been a huge success.” Cornette said. “This time you get twice as much evaluation and personal time with the officials. These camps have been the catalyst for us signing Michael Elgin, Mike Bennett, Tommaso Ciampa and others. We hope to find exceptional talent like those great athletes that would fit the ROH roster. Remember though that this is not just a try-out because everyone will learn something new and we can guarantee that.”

Industry Weighs in on Dixie Carter's Speech

Mark Madden of wrestlezone.com:
Dixie Carter’s speech on TNA Impact was utterly pathetic. I know what she said. Here’s what she actually meant:

“I’m an idiot. A loser. A mark. But I’m the boss. Stop talking about me behind my back. I don’t know what I’m doing, but I sign the checks. If you want that to continue, you’ll play along. Do I have a plan? ****, no. If I had a plan, I’d tell you in private instead of spewing this nonsense in public. Damore, do you need to vomit? The one person Carter really needed to convince with that BS was herself. I doubt she did. Carter’s nutty lament indicates that she’s entering the final stages of money-mark meltdown. Her company stinks. She’s a joke. But if she can get on television and BE A STAR, it will all be worth it."...More?

Jim Cornette:
“Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara have obviously gotten behind Dixie Carter and said, ‘Hey, you’re the boss. You need to be on television, boss. We need to get your makeup fixed up and put you on TV so that you can tell everyone that you’re the only female promoter in professional wrestling and that you’re making a mark and that everything is going to be different and TNA is going to the next level…"

Jim Cornette Comments on Stephanie McMahon Levesque as Head of Creative

For years, the head of the creative team has been Stephanie McMahon, the boss’ daughter. While an intelligent, college-educated woman, her credentials qualifying her to be the head “writer” of a wrestling promotion remain the three words “the boss’ daughter.” Her knowledge of wrestling history, especially of how her father put the territories out of business, is nil, as evidenced by her testimony before Congress. Her experience as a performer has been limited to what she wrote for herself. It’s not her fault entirely, as until she came to work at the WWE after college, she attended the matches sporadically, and certainly no one was going to teach the boss’ daughter anything that might be politically imprudent. Her husband, Triple H, a student of the game, is certainly not going to rock his marriage boat, and much more important to him, his position as the heir to the throne, by telling her any of the negative effects her father has had on the pro wrestling industry in general while building his personal empire.

So Stephanie, as head of creative, hires people like her.Young people with college degrees in writing, many with experience writing scripted television, comedy shows in particular, with little or no respect for wrestling, and little if any experience performing ANYTHING. As a matter of fact, being a fan of wrestling is not even a requirement for the job, and God forbid if you DO admit to being a wrestling fan, and having watched any other wrestling besides WWE, you will at best be viewed as a “mark” and your days numbered.

source: jimcornette.com

Although Jim Cornette has an axe to grind with Vince, which makes his opinions biased, I do agree that at some point WWE Creative needs to put the emphasis back on the wrestling and hire people with wrestling experience. Quite frankly, I think that is why Triple H sits in on production meetings.

And would it hurt if that writer was also a fan?
