Top WWE Names at WWN Live Tryout

WWN Live has issued the following:

April 1st: Top WWE Officials William Regal, Matt Bloom and Canyon Cemen made an unprecedented visit at yesterday’s WWN Seminar/Tryout. They each lectured the participants with invaluable knowledge. Regal even got involved with the in ring training. Bloom paid WWN Seminar/Tryout Head Trainer Drew Gulak the ultimate compliment by saying “Drew shows you the WWE way.”

Cemen, Regal and Bloom had a lengthy discussion with WWN’s Sal Hamaoui and Gabe Sapolsky about the future of the relationship. We can reveal now that many exciting and interest possibilities were put on the table. The next few months are going to be very interesting as the relationship moves forward. There is no telling what will happen next. We could see the ramifications as early as this weekend’s EVOLVE and WWN Supershow events.

We would like to thank Mr. Regal, Mr. Bloom and Mr. Cemen for their visit yesterday. This proves that WWE is proactive about strengthening the future of pro wrestling and the independent undercurrent.

Triple H announced on yesterday’s NXT conference call that Zack Sabre Jr. will be in the WWE Global Cruiserweight Series. The tests start for Zack Sabre Jr. this weekend with the conclusion of his “Best In The World Series.” It’ll be Sabre Jr. vs. Will Ospreay at today’s EVOLVE 58, vs. Matt Riddle at tomorrow afternoon’s EVOLVE 59 and vs. Chris Hero at tomorrow night’s WWN Supershow. Is Zack Sabre Jr. the new Best In The World? Watch all three matches at www.WWNLive.com on live iPPV to follow Zack’s road to the WWE Global Cruiserweight Series.

What WWE's Senior Director Of Talent Development Tells Wrestlers After Having Bad Tryouts

WWE's Senior Director of Talent Development Canyon Ceman tells wrestlers who are seeking a second WWE tryout after having a bad first tryout to make themselves into an indie star because they have low chances at getting into WWE through a second tryout.

The old WWE doctrine was to look down on indie guys with the feeling that their style doesn't translate to the big stage and WWE would rather go with bigger, higher quality athletes who they can train from scratch. That doctrine has obviously changed due to what fans are into.

Rumor Mill - Morale Down in WWE Developmental

It was originally reported a number of months ago that the overall morale in WWE developmental was pretty good after Triple H took a more personal investment in it, but it's now being reported that the morale has gone down considerably.

It's being reported that a big reason for this is because of head trainer Bill DeMott who is said to be not as well-liked as former head trainer Tom Prichard who as released a while back. Tom Prichard also Tweeted the following:

"Guys trust me; Karma gets everybody. From the 'Lil Napolean to the Volleyball expert. Time will tell... Those who KNOW 'know' who Napolean and Mr. Volleyball are. 'Nuff said. And I have no dog in this fight. But facts are FACTS!"

(Volleyball refers to Canyon Ceman and Napoleon refers to Matt Martlaro, who earned that nickname because he reportedly developed a bad attitude after doing some work with Triple H, feeling like that made him better than his peers.)

More on the WWE Future of John Laurinaitis

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that John Laurinaitis stepping away from his excutive job to now be a producer isn't just because he's "burnt out" as initially reported.

The reasoning of being tired, while it might have some truth to it, is more of a cover for the political reasons behind it.

Triple H is said to have never been a fan of Laurinaitis and the writing was on the wall as Triple H has continued to gain more power as an executive.

Jane Geddes, Vice President of Talent Relations, and Canyon Ceman, Senior Director of Talent Development have been continuing to learn the ways of the machine that is WWE.

As they continue to learn, they assumed duties that belonged to Laurinaitis. Creative writer Michael Hayes replaced John Laurinaitis as matchmaker of live events and it is said that he was taken out of the loop concerning developmental program matters.

Laurinaitis is expected to return to television soon as an on-screen performer. The word in WWE is as Laurinaitis began losing all of his power, he decided to not leave WWE because his family just bought a new home in Connecticut and don't want to pick up and leave.

Update on WWE Recruitment

Within WWE, recruiting is now the highest priority it has been since more than a decade ago when WWE had the original strong class in Ohio Valley Wrestling. Gerald Brisco and Canyon Ceman, a recent Triple H hire, were recruiting new talents this past week at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. They were specifically looking at wrestlers, weightlifters and track athletes. Brisco was highest on a bobsled racer who he thought had a great look and who loved wrestling. The racer is the pusher for his bobsled team and may want to wait until after the 2014 Winter Games.

WWE had Triple H, Pat Patterson, Terry Taylor and Dean Malenko, among others, at the recent WWE NXT TV tapings to scout talents and help teach.

New Senior Director of Talent Development at WWE

WWE has hired former professional beach volleyball player Canyon Ceman has Senior Director of Talent Development. His summary from LinkedIn is as follows:

I am in a career transition. The 15 years from 1994-2008 were spent as a professional beach volleyball player, a real estate entrepreneur, and a traveling writer... among other things. A wonderful life that I didn't want to give up...

After my MBA at UCLA, I spent some doing strategic and financial consulting to socially responsible startups. Some clients include Green Earth Waterless Car Wash, Olade Organic Lemonade, Dig for Kids Not for Profit.
..
In 2009-2010, I went to work for the AVP (first as Bus Dev Consultant, then Strategic CFO) to try to save the sport I love and owe so much. Despite our best cost cutting effort, revenues fell too far to avoid the sad fate of Bankruptcy in Nov 2010.

From May 2011 to December 2011, I worked as an apprentice trader/ analyst at Diamondback Capital, focused on Fixed Income.

In addition to seeking capital for a new Fixed Income Hedge Fund with my previous employer, I am now seeking an opportunity with a more established sports/ finance property... ideally in business development, sponsor relationship management, or finance.

My long term goals include a managerial position with a sports/ entertainment property, ideally within a growing international brand.
