Another 2017 WWE Hall Of Fame Inductee Announced

WWE announced the following today:

Beth Phoenix to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017

Beth Phoenix, one of the most dominant female competitors in sports-entertainment, will take her rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame when she is inducted as part of the Class of 2017 during WrestleMania 33 Week. The news was first reported by USA Today.

Phoenix first arrived in WWE in 2006, brutalizing Mickie James and aligning herself with fellow WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. Unfortunately, a jaw injury forced Phoenix to the sidelines just weeks after her debut. She returned to Monday Night Raw more than a year later, ready to dominate the competition. Possessing great beauty and power, Phoenix dubbed herself "The Glamazon" and went right to work.

Within months of her return to WWE, Phoenix captured the Women's Championship and dominated the division for months, muscling around the competition with ease before planting opponents face-first into the canvas with her patented Glam Slam. She also was part of an unlikely, yet infamous power couple with Santino Marella. The duo, dubbed "Glamarella," found great success, often in spite of the wacky antics of The Milan Miracle. In fact, it was Phoenix who won herself a second Women's Championship and Marella the Intercontinental Title in a Winner Take All Tag Team Match at SummerSlam 2008.

Phoenix went on to capture the Women's Championship once more, as well as the Divas Championship before stepping away from the ring in 2012. On top of her championship glory, The Glamazon was a pioneer, truly showing what women could do inside the squared circle. Phoenix was the second woman ever to enter the Royal Rumble Match, eliminating the towering Great Khali in the 2010 edition of the 30-Superstar, over-the-top-rope melee. She wasn't afraid to throw down in a hardcore match and even took part in the first ever Tables Match to feature women at WWE TLC 2010.

And now, Beth Phoenix is blazing a trail toward sports-entertainment immortality, as she enters the WWE Hall of Fame.

Former WWE Developmental Wrestler Files Lawsuit Against WWE and Others, Citing Fraud, Injuries, Non-Payment of Medical Bills, Hazing and More

Note: Despite his claims in the lawsuit, PWInsider.com has confirmed that Brian Jack was never signed to a WWE developmental contract. He was working in FCW trying to earn himself a deal, but was not "sent there by WWE."

Brian Jack, a professional wrestler from Wisconsin who worked in WWE developmental FCW several years ago under the name Buck Wild, is suing WWE, a number of executives, wrestlers Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix, Dr. James Andrews and Shed Media, the production company for the most recent version of WWE Tough Enough, bringing a myriad of accusations against the assembled defendants.

In a lawsuit filed in The United States District Court, Eastern District of Wisconsin on 11/30, Jack alleges:

*He "told WWE Corporate about hazing, threats, sexual harassment and more" but was told to "work it out with [FCW head] Steve Keirn."

*Keirn broke his "neck, pelvis, backbone, thumb" and left him with a badly injured right leg that Jack has had to deal with for several years.

*That Anthony Carelli (Santino Marella) attempted to get Jack to commit homeowner's fraud to make an insurance claim and that "WWE" wanted him to get into a "staged car wreck so their developmental insurance wouldn't take a hit."

*That he reached out to the Hilsborough Police Department in Florida but they "pulled out of a sting" and he later needed to borrow money to get home to Wisconsin.

*That after two years of trying to get WWE to fix his leg to no avail, he was contacted and flown down to Dr. James Andrews. Jack claimed that Andrews "checked me for a wire, asked me bizare questions, gave me a MRI, tried to run me through POMCO (workman's comp), then I was told by knee was still damaged by 1 of the 3 people in the room with Dr. Andrews."

*That he is still being billed and in collections years after he was instructed by WWE to send them the bills after returning from Dr. Andrews.

*That WWE "used Shed Media USA to fraud" him into believing he would be on the cast of Tough Enough in order to get him to sign a contract that would release WWE of any and all liabilities "before, during and after" production of the series. Jack claimed that when he brought it to their attention, they promised to send another contract removing that clause and never did. He claimed he never signed the contract because it would release WWE from paying the bills and he would be stuck with the expenses.

*Jack is also alleging that he has been slandered via employees of a company titled "Kwik Trip" who were contacted by WWE and that the slander has spread to his friends and landlord.

Jack notes in his filing that he sued WWE in 2011 and is awaiting an appeal on that lawsuit. Information on that suit was not immediately available.

Named in the suit are WWE, current and former WWE executives Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis (former head of WWE Talent Relations), Ty Bailey (former VP of Talent Relations), Kristin Actman (who would book extras for WWE TV), wrestlers Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix (her reason for being listed is never explained), Shed Media USA and Kwik Trip Inc.

Jack was down in WWE developmental several years ago and YouTube Video he posted on his account shows him performing as "Buck Wild" in front of an empty FCW Arena as well a test promo for his persona.

Interestingly, the channel also features a video where he describes his injuries in FCW as an "unfortunate, terrible accident".

In the suit, Jack asked the court to bring the defendants together to settle the issue so he can finally get the surgery he needs to move on with his life. He also requests that the case be heard in Wisconsin, where he resides, as WWE took him from there when they "placed him" in Tampa.

As of this writing, there has been no response to the lawsuit.

Beth Phoenix "Fired" on Monday Night Raw

Vickie Guerrero "fired" WWE Diva Beth Phoenix on Monday Night Raw tonight, after Beth failed to defeat former Raw general manager AJ Lee in the first of their two singles matches. As of now, WWE has yet to make an official announcement on the status of Beth's contract, so this could very well be part of an on-going story.

It is worth noting, however, that Wrestlezone reported in September that Beth Phoenix was seriously considering leaving the WWE due to frustrations with her character and the Divas division.

WWE Divas Campaigning For Ladder Match

The February 2012 issue of WWE Magazine features an interview with Natalya and Beth Phoenix and they are both asked which male-dominated stipulation match they would like to see introduced to the Divas Division. Both say Ladder Match.

“I want to compete in the first-ever Diva Ladder Match. Beth and I think it would be amazing, and I believe we could really pull it off,” Natalya says.

Beth adds, “I actually like to consider myself a pioneer for the ladies’ Ladder Match because if you check out Ladder Matches 2: Crash and Burn, it actually features my Ladder Match from Louisville, Kentucky, in OVW. I have been campaigning for WWE to let me compete in one and have even volunteered to put my Divas Championship on the line in it against absolutely anybody. I have the experience and truly believe the bar could be raised with that bout. There is no doubt in my mind that it would be the most spectacular Divas match of all-time.

Beth Phoenix Comments on Triple H vs. CM Punk

Well this match, you know, maybe has as much meaning for all of us on the roster as it does for the WWE Universe. Because if HHH loses, he is no longer the COO of the company. And on the other hand, CM Punk has kind of been the one guy to stand up and step up for all of us who have felt pushed aside or under-appreciated, so it really is kind of a conflict of heart. Because I like what HHH has been doing as the COO, he has really you know made some changes in the company that have affected us in a positive way. So um, you know, I understand Punk’s gripes, but at the same time me as a talent, I really like what HHH has done so it’s really a toss up. I think it could go either way, and it’s really going be the match I want to see the most.

CM Punk Weighs In On Controversial Diva Article

CM Punk has tweeted his thoughts on the recent fuss WWE Divas have been making over an article on WWE.com which noted that Natalya & Beth Phoenix, are saving the Divas division - "So wait. The divas are mad about an in house article on wwe.com that is potentially designed to garner them attention/TV time? Awesome." said Punk. Below is what some of the Divas had to say about the article via twitter:

@EveMarieTorres: I'd love to step into the ring whomever wrote this, & c who needs saving. #Iwillbootypopinyourfacethenmakeyoutap wwe.me/6kZ8Y

@thebellatwins: Bri & @RealKellyKelly have been the only entertainment that has happened 2 the Diva's Division & have worked harder than anyone!

@thebellatwins: First off.... Um you want me to slap you with all of my awards and championships I have won? I was a #1 athlete... Which other Diva was?

@thebethphoenix: As long as I can remember I have worked my butt off and been underappreciated while the crowd adores @RealKellyKelly and @EveMarieTorres...

@thebethphoenix: Its not the Divas Division that needs saving, but the WWE Universe. Myself and @NatbyNature are on a mission to make you change your minds.

Divas of Doom ... or Salvation?

Stinkfaces. Booty poppin'. If you're a purist about a woman's place inside the WWE ring, you must be wondering what Fabulous Moolah is thinking looking down on the Divas division. Would the iconic figure chalk up the current flux of the division on changing times, or would she say, "Someone needs to save this"?

Beth Phoenix and Natalya, the "Divas of Doom," think so. However, are The Glamazon and third-generation Diva just the two women to call "saviors"?

Beth Phoenix Comments on her Injury

"Two weeks ago on Superstars, I had a match against new SmackDown Diva, Rosa Mendes. During the course of the match I was able to reverse an Irish Whip into the corner and counter Rosa with an Up and Over maneuver where I jump out of the turnbuckle, over her and show her what The Glamazon is made of. However, when I landed, feet side by side, as I have thousands of times over the course of my career, my left knee buckled to the side and I heard a very distinctive, "Crunch.""

Beth revealed she suffered a bruised bone, torn & displaced Meniscus, a sprained MCL and a torn ACT. She was advised by doctors to get surgery and will be going under the knife this coming Tuesday in Alabama with Dr. James Andrews. She will be out of action for several months.

Phoenix suffered the initial injury at last week's Smackdown TV tapings when she worked a match with Rosa Mendes for Superstars.
