TRISH STRATUS has been named the 2016 “Iron” Mike Award winner! The women’s wrestling icon becomes first female ever to win this award.
Write-up courtesy of CAC Board Member Ron Hutchison:
“On behalf of the Cauliflower Alley Club, it’s Board and Executive Board members, it is with great pride and respect that I am very pleased to announce that TRISH STRATUS has been unanimously named the recipient of the 2016 “Iron” Mike Mazurki Award!
It is the very first time in the prestigious 51 year history of the club that the “Iron” Mike Award has been presented to a woman. With women now more than ever taking to the forefront and, in many cases, leading the way in all sorts of endeavors be it politics, sports, science, entertainment and just about anything else you can name it’s fitting that Trish becomes the CAC’s first ever female “Iron” Mike award winner as Trish had shot to the forefront of the women’s professional wrestling industry and, in the process, made wrestling history in very short order since her year 2000 debut.
As well as being named the World Wrestling Federation’s Diva of the Decade, this Canadian bombshell went on to win the organization’s Hardcore Championship and held the WWE Women’s Wrestling Championship a record 7 times and in doing so cemented her legacy in the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame.
As a wrestler, fitness model, fitness guru, actress and television personality Trish’s talent, work ethic and beauty is known worldwide. She has graced the cover of no less than an astounding 100 magazines and is strongly committed to giving back to the community. She is passionate about her charity work and using her celebrity to benefit others.
As the recipient of the 2016 Iron Mike Award Trish makes history, yet again! At the 2016 CAC gathering in Las Vegas, reunion goers will see what I have been fortunate enough to bear witness to for a very long time; you’d have to search long and hard to find anybody, male or female, as passionate, as focused, as endearing, as hard-working or as deserving as TRISH STRATUS.”

Terry Taylor & Michael "PS" Hayes Receive Awards
The 2014 Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion took place this weekend at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas with many wrestling legends in attendance. Gerald Brisco presented Michael "PS" Hayes with the Lou Thesz Award, which is a lifetime achievement award and Jim Ross presented Terry Taylor with the Iron Mike Award, the CAC's top honor.
Ross noted in a blog last week that WWE had 4 tables reserved for the reunion. We've heard in the past that WWE had reserved 1 or 2 tables but never 4. No word yet on who attended on their behalf.

WWE to Attend the Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion
From Steve Wilton of www.honkytonkman.net:
World Wrestling Entertainment has just purchased a Banquet table for the 2011 reunion featuring WWE legends the Honky Tonk Man & Sgt Slaughter. That means, 10 banquet tickets have been purchased! Who will be the recipient of these tickets? TEN MAJOR STARS! These ten names will not be released unless the Executive Board makes that decision. But from the names I'm hearing.... All I can report right now is WOW!

20 Year GLOW Reunion
GLOW (the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) was the first and only exclusively, all women wrestling show to ever appear on free television in the United States. Eventually it was broadcast via satellite to most parts of the world at one time or another. GLOW ran during the mid 1980′s. The GLOW Girls are looking forward to having a mini reunion in conjunction with the annual CAC reunion...More?

Joyce Grable to be Honoured by CAC
Las Vegas has always been known as America's playground. But to wrestling fans, it is also recognized as the home of the Cauliflower Alley Club. Since 1965, this non-profit corporation has been in place to celebrate the accomplishments of pro wrestling's elite. And one of this year's honouree is a woman that opened many doors for a lot of female wrestlers today, so it's only fitting that the CAC opens its doors for Joyce Grable.
Grable will be the recipient of the women's wrestling award when the CAC reunion returns to Vegas on April 19. Grable has attended the reunion in the past and witnessed many of her peers receive that award, and she is absolutely thrilled that this year is her turn...More?

CAC Honoring Jim Ross with the Art Abrams Award
The Art Abrams Award is the honor given out by the Cauliflower Alley Club dedicated to an individual’s lifetime achievements. A quick look at the previous honorees reveals a stellar list of wrestling’s elite; men and women who can look back on their storied careers and take stock of their accomplishments. For any of them, this award can be seen as a fashionable cap to their custom-designed legacy within professional wrestling.
That concept is a tough-sell to Jim Ross, who has worn many hats since his 1974 introduction into the wrestling business. As the 2010 recipient of the Art Abrams Award, Ross has most recently cut an impressive silhouette by donning his trademark black Resistol cowboy hat. But that silhouette has yet to be backlit by the sunset that many of those who call it a career have rode off into...More?

Awesome Kong Seminar at Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion
The three days of activities at the CAC Reunion will include a seminar by Awesome Kong.
Described as a champion and a dominant female professional wrestler, Kong is also a great role model outside the ring.
"Any and all workers will be welcome to attend my seminar," relayed Kong. "Originally, I set a five-year goal for myself in the world of pro-wrestling, and it was very difficult... but I made it. I will be stressing the importance of the sacrifice and dedication. Sacrifice plus dedication equals success."
"In addition," continued Kong, "I will describe my journey and what it took for me to reach my goals. I will give the workers a pep talk and pass along a message that 'You can do it, too!'"

Classic Movie "Night and the City" Captured Wrestling's Murky Fascination
More than half a century before Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, there was Jules Dassin's 1950 film noir classic Night and the City, about a two-bit American hustler trying to take over the wrestling scene in London. The images of that movie, flawed but compelling, still have relevance for wrestling fans today -- especially via the memorable performances of the legendary Stanislaus Zbyszko and Mike Mazurki (the wrestler-character actor who would go on to found the old-timers association, the Cauliflower Alley Club).
Night and the City has been restored in a newly remastered Criterion DVD, and is highly recommended for wrestling fans and film connoisseurs alike...More?
