Hollywood in Hagerstown

Forget the real housewives in D.C. -- Hagerstown could be getting the star treatment.

A production company is pitching a reality show starring a local pizza owner who moonlights as a professional wrestler.

Vinnie Schiano DiCola owns Rocky's Pizza and Cafe Napoli. He and his son, Rocky, spend their days at the pizza shop on North Potomac Street. But when darkness falls, they head to the Superior Pro Wrestling Training Center.

"There's no time for me to do anything but the pizza shop and wrestle," Vinnie Schiano DiCola told The Herald-Mail. "We have talent. I'm not conceited -- I'm convinced. It's just a matter of having Hollywood see it."

And that's a big possibility. The father-son duo -- which trains with professional wrestler John Rambo, according to The Herald-Mail -- caught the eye of Fremantle Media North America. (That's the production company behind "American Idol," in case you didn't know.)

This week, Fremantle shot footage of the Sciano DiColas in Hagerstown and a wrestling match in West Virginia. Now the footage is being edited into a pitch to show network big wigs.

Becoming John Rambo

Professional wrestler John Kreczman Jr. never set out to become John Rambo. "Wrestling personas have a way of finding you," said Kreczman, 48, of Hagerstown, who is best known locally by his alter ego. "Someone else created it for me, and it stuck." Happily for Kreczman, the Rambo thing stuck.

The New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame honored Kreczman for his contribution to wrestling. The induction ceremony was held in April in Rhode Island and paid tribute to wrestlers, spanning generations of entertainment sports eras and independent wrestling league circuits.

"It's a love, a passion," Krecz-man said. "Once it gets into your blood, it's addicting."...More?
