Vince McMahon And Triple H Take Major Fire In New Animated Series

The Good Brothers have a lot of irons in the fire right now. They are getting their own comedy variety special on AXS TV, and an animated series also seems to be in development. The Gimmicks is coming, but we haven’t been told much about it yet. We do know Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows and more will be a part of the show. The trailer for the new series also took some major shots at Vince McMahon and Triple H. This trailer not only features Triple H seeming like a sniveling kiss-up to McMahon, but he also plays the role of a literal footstool. Vince McMahon was furious about a bunch of “losers” and “nobodies” trying to do their own thing as well.

NZO is also a part of The Gimmicks. His character is named “Esteban Apples” which keeps his “EA” initials. It seems like The Gimmicks is going to take some serious shots at the pro wrestling business and Vince McMahon is not excluded. If this trailer is any indication of things The Gimmicks will make the shots that Being The Elite takes at WWE look like nothing. You really need to see this for yourself.

Xavier Woods Talks Breaking Stereotypes As A Gamer/Wrestler, The New Day Being ‘Geeky’, Their Wrestlemania 32 Entrance

WWE star Xavier Woods recently spoke with Phoenix New Times while promoting this week’s WWE events in Arizona.

Woods talks about video games, The New Day’s Wrestlemania 32 entrance, breaking stereotypes and more. You can read some highlights below:

Xavier Woods comments on breaking stereotypes by being a gamer and comic fan:

“I think a lot of people think that since we are professional athletes that we can’t have certain tendencies that other people might have, like they try to put people in a box and say, ‘You’re an athlete, which means you’re a jock,’ or ‘You like reading books, so you’re a nerd,’ so you can’t be more than one thing in a lot of people’s eyes,” Woods says. “Whereas I wrestled, I played football, I ran track but I also made straight As, and I also played through Final Fantasy VII like 900 times and I also love Street Fighter and I also love comic books.”

Woods responds to comments about The New Day going from positivity to geeky:

Uh … this word “gimmick” that you keep on using, I’m not sure what that is. When I go out on TV, I’m just myself, and I feel like my personality isn’t really any sort of gimmick the way that people might use the word. What we do, when our music hits, we go out and we just hang out with each other. We’re friends and that’s what we’re about, being friends and making sure that we have a good time. We’ve just been lucky enough that other people think that us having fun is funny.

Woods say he was behind the group’s Wrestlemania 32 entrance and gear:

The Dragon Ball Z-inspired gear was my idea, because I was thinking about some things and felt that I needed to dress up as Vegeta at some point in my life on the show and the largest WrestleMania ever seemed like the place to do it. And Kofi is a Dragon Ball Z fan as well and we’re breaking E into it, so we all sat down and we agreed that this was the best route to go. And then it actually happened and it kind of blew my mind.

Woods reveals why he’s a Mega Ran fan, comments on breaking the “black nerd” stereotype:

Oh, of course, of course … it’s always Mega Ran. Simply because of the [Black Materia: Final Fantasy VII] album and the song, “Dawn of the Slums.” He absolutely destroys it on that track, and he raps about a ton of stuff that I can relate to very easily because of a lot of things that we talk about and deal with and try to help kids specifically with the stigma of being a black nerd.

Growing up as like a black person, there’s so many things that you’re kind of labeled with, and people think that you should act a certain way and you should speak a certain way; that you should do certain things and it’s like, if you’re a nerd, coming up in that culture, people think, oh, that’s not you because you’re black, you need to be wearing backwards hats, you need to be listening to gangster rap. It’s like, “No, you can be whatever you want.” We want kids to know they can start with a blank slate, regardless if they’re black, white, green, purple … you know what I mean? So we try very hard to make sure that kids that were in our position while we were growing up understand that there are now adults who are just like them and they’re doing just fine in their lives.

BAMN Comics Celebrates 2nd Anniversary with Rob The Viking 12-Week Event

Press Release From Bamn Studios:

Now approaching its second year as an ongoing online comic series, BAMNcomics.com turns a spectacular new corner just in time for its 2 year anniversary! In an unprecedented move, co-creator and regular artist Jay Payne will temporarily put down his pen and make room for the incoming Matt Rawson (Colonial Comics) as he joins writer Troy-Jeffrey Allen (District Comics) for ROB THE VIKING IN...A CAMPAIGN OF A COURAGE.

Beginning May 7th, 2016 at BAMNcomics.com, this 12-part weekly event will be a brief departure for the series as the story focuses on one character instead of its growing cast. For nearly 100 installments, the title character Bamn -- a washed up pro wrestler -- has been training a crew of downtrodden teenagers on how to defend themselves against the bullies of their high school. Things turn ugly as the kids launch into an all-out war for respect inside their school cafeteria. It's at this point that A CAMPAIGN OF COURAGE picks up to zero in on Rob, the only member of Bamn's trainees still left standing. Followers of the series will recognize Rob as the soft spoken Viking warrior who rounds off BAMN's cast of wannabe wrestlers. True to the series' "anti-bullying" roots, Rob's standalone adventure will delve into how "The Nubian of Newfoundland" overcomes his schoolyard tormentors. The catch: While his friends are preoccupied with their own high school drama in the real world, Rob goes on a fantasy-themed adventure of his very own. In the process, fans will discover what makes the shy seafarer tick and what ticks him off.

Readers will also get to see how his love of fantasy films, collectible card games, and roleplaying factor into his backstory.

"Ever since we started BAMN a few years back it's been my intention to focus on each of the teen characters individually and Rob specifically," says Troy-Jeffrey Allen, co-creator of Bamn. "When Jay and I were conceptualizing the characters he had this Viking with an afro in the mix. I instantly loved the absurdity of the character, which in turn made me want to totally own the idea of it. I started thinking a lot about black cosplayers and how their options for characters are limited. That got me thinking about how that makes it even more important that you commit to the cosplay -- how that in itself could be a point of ridicule from peers. Organically, that connected to the comic's theme of bullying. That's when I knew that that was the story I wanted to tell." "I'm excited to finally get to read the comic as a fan," says artist Jay Payne about Rawson joining the creative team. "I remember Matt doing a BAMN art piece for us at a convention. It was exciting to see someone else's interpretation of the character. That instantly got us thinking of how we can occasionally flip the genre of the comic and bring in new artist to just play with the world of BAMN -- to see another artist's point of view and let them express themselves with our cast."

Artist Matt Rawson, who typically has worked on historically-based comics utilizing a traditional pen and ink style, is eager to jump into the digital world of BAMN. "Coming into an established story that has had a very specific visual style from the beginning proved a challenge in figuring how I was going to approach these characters in my own way. Then, at a certain point, I just stopped worrying about it and started drawing some comics," Rawson laughs. " Jay and Troy are the main men on BAMN. Regardless, I'm definitely having a damn good time getting to play in the universe!" Once A CAMPAIGN OF COURAGE's 12 installments are completed in July, Rob will rejoin the larger cast with a completely new perspective. "You'll definitely see a major transformation in Rob when it is said and done," explains Allen. "Bamn really is about finding strength in the face adversity. Every character in the series has to sort that out, and Rob is the first one. Expect him to 'get gud' on Matt's watch." For updates and more, visit www.bamncomics.com, and look for the first part of ROB THE VIKING IN...A CAMPAIGN OF COURAGE when it debuts on Free Comic Book Day, May 7th, 2016 on the BAMN Comics website!

WWE Investing In Marvel Superheros Project

WWE is one of several big investors in a new touring company featuring Marvel coming-book stars, according to The New York Times. “Marvel Experience” is set to launch in 2014 according to a Los Angeles based start-up company, Hero Ventures.

Other investors include a Disney relative, a co-owner of the New York Giants NFL team, and the co-founders of Guess Jeans. It’s unknown whether it was this specific investment that WWE was referencing in their most-recent Quarterly Report on August 2nd:

New Comic Mixes Crime and Rasslin' in the 1970s

With a new comic book, Swerve, two writers / wrestling fans prove that the descent from the twisted ring of professional wrestling into the ugly world of drugs and crime is not that long a journey.

And while we, as fans, like to joke about how evil some promoters have been through the years, it is safe to say that none were quite as evil as the villain here.

Spider-Man Inspired By Masked Luchadors

In The Amazing Spider-Man, which hit theaters Tuesday, Peter Parker is inspired to create a mask after winding up inside a wrestling ring surrounded by posters of masked luchadors. It is not the first wrestling connection in the movie franchise as in the premiere film released in 2002, Peter enters a wrestling tournament and squares off against a character portrayed by the late Randy "Macho Man" Savage.

Spider-Man movie has strong ties to pro wrestling; "Macho Man" Randy Savage connection...

The Amazing Spider-Man was released during the Independence Day week and so far the flick has performed well.

The Spider-Man franchise is awesome, it is something else which has pro wrestling fans excited about the latest reboot of the superhero franchise.

In the original film, starring Tobey Maguire, we witnessed Spider-Man enter a pro wrestling match in order to win a sum of cash which would allow him to purchase a used car he thought would impress Mary Jane.

Initially, Peter Parker wanted to be called The Human Spider, but Bruce Campbell put a stop to that nonsense and sent him down to the ring as Spider-Man.

As if seeing the man most famously known as Ash Williams wasn't enough, we were treated to a second cameo within seconds.

Spidey was facing off against Bonesaw McGraw, who was played by the late, great Randy "Macho Man" Savage.

It was here where Spidey first faced off against a foe who put him through hell.

This cameo by the legendary "Macho Man" was warmly welcomed by wrestling fans who had missed Savage. The new film, featuring Andrew Garfield as the webby one has gone back to its roots and given Peter Parker another wrestling-based inspiration.

At one point in the film Peter Parker is walking away from a group of hoodlums he had just schooled when he falls through a roof, landing in the middle of a wrestling ring.

When he stood up and looked around he saw what provided him with the inspiration for his signature mask.

The small arena was filled with signs featuring Lucha Libre masks, one of which catches Parker's eye more than the others.

The mask is red with dark-colored designs surrounding the eyes, nearly an exact copy of Spidey's look sans the webbing all over the face area.

Director Marc Webb made a lot of wrestling fans happy by inserting another inspiration for Spider-Man which is based in the world of pro wrestling...More?
