WWE Issues Statement On The Coronavirus And WrestleMania 36 Week

WWE is moving forward with WrestleMania 36 plans despite multiple confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Tampa, Florida area.

WWE issued a statement to ESPN this afternoon and said they are monitoring the coronavirus situation closely with partners and government officials in the Tampa Bay area. WWE confirmed that there are no current plans to cancel or postpone any upcoming events due to the virus.

WWE Held Talent Meeting Over Coronavirus Concerns At RAW

According to PWInsider.com, WWE held a talent meeting before RAW last night regarding the Coronavirus pandemic. It was noted that the company wanted to review the latest information on the disease and what talents could do to avoid contracting the disease on the road.

Two cases of the virus have been discovered this week in the Tampa area, where WrestleMania 36 is scheduled to take place next month. WWE has not publicly commented on the potential effect the coronavirus could have on their schedule since the cases in Florida were discovered.

Last week, Stephanie McMahon and other WWE officials were in Tampa for a business luncheon and spoke with the Tampa Bay Times about growing concerns over the disease. McMahon said WWE puts the safety of their performers and fans first but they’ll act if it comes to that point. “The health and safety of not only our fan base, but also our superstars, really does come first. We don’t want to put anyone in a bad situation ever, regardless of the circumstance. Those are not risks worth taking.” McMahon added that the company will “enact those measures” if necessary.

WWE Special Events EVP John Saboor and Tampa Bay Sports Commission’s Rob Higgins were also quoted, with Saboor noting that the company is constantly monitoring global events. “There are active and ongoing discussions at play internally, like there are in any sector of American business,” Saboor noted, “and certainly families as a whole. So I think those will continue.”

Triple H Surprises Off-Duty Police Officer Injured In London Bridge Terror Attack

WWE superstar and COO Triple H surprised an off-duty Police Officer in the United Kingdom who was seriously injured as he fought off the London Bridge terrorists.

The emotional visit saw Paul Levesque, better known to WWE fans as "The Game" Triple H meet Charlie Guenigault, 25, who was stabbed multiple times as he took on the terrorist who brought about carnage on the iconic London Bridge.

It was reported that on the night of the attack Charlie was wearing a Sami Zayn t-shirt. Triple H praised Charlie for his "exceptional bravery" and played a personal video message recorded by Zayn.

Zayn said: “You put yourself in the line of danger at a time when you really had no obligation to do so.

“I can’t tell you how much respect I have for you. The fact you were wearing my shirt at the time really puts it into perspective for me."

"Sami Zayn has always been the guy known to stand up to the bad guys, but you did it in the most horrific of circumstances. Man, I’m just blown away, I really am.”

Triple H added: “To run in the direction of a scary situation that can’t even be described in words, to help others, for that to be your instinct to help others – that is a hero.

“People say a lot of times that they watch WWE because these guys are like real-life superheroes. Well, Charlie is a real hero."

Stephanie McMahon Reaches Out To Orlando Mayor After Pulse Terror Attack, WWE Offering Assistance

WFTV in Orlando reports that WWE reached out to Orlando city officials after the Pulse nightclub terror attack earlier this month to offer their assistance.

WWE hosted RAW from Orlando just one day after the attack that left 49 dead and 53 injured in the city, opening with a tribute to the victims. Recently released e-mails by city officials show that Stephanie McMahon reached out to Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and offered to "do everything we can to help support you and your efforts to rebuild the constitution of your great city."

WWE nor Orlando officials would confirm to WFTV what may be in the works but said discussions have taken place. Stephanie also told Dyer that she and other WWE stars were grieving with the residents of Orlando, calling the city a "second home" to the company.

Stephanie also asked about what WWE could do to help the victims and the city, writing: "We are already brainstorming ideas to help raise money for the OneOrlando fund, and I wanted to know if there was more we could be doing."

Dyer responded: "Thank you Stephanie for your kind words and your generosity. Someone will be in touch with you."

WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin supports gay marriage

WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin has been running a weekly podcast for the last year, and it’s a must-listen for any pro wrestling fan. On a show last year, Austin shared his thoughts on same-sex marriage, and offered a brash, profanity-laced take on the subject which is just now making the rounds.

Austin, who is married and has two biological and one adopted daughter by previous marriages, said that he adamantly believes that people should be able to marry whoever they want.

“What also chaps my [expletive], some of these churches, have the high horse that they get on and say ‘we as a church do not believe in that.’ Which one of these [people] talked to God, and God said that same-sex marriage was a no-can-do?”

You can listen to the segment from Austin’s podcast here.

WWE Issues An Updated Statement Regarding the Death of Viloude Louis

WWE's Director of Public Relations/Corporate Communications, Adam Hopkins, has sent the following updated statement regarding the death of Viloude Louis:

The death of Viloude Louis is a tragedy and we express our heartfelt condolences. Authorities have already charged the accused with second degree murder and determined that this was not an accidental death due to a wrestling move. The facts of this case clearly point to a lack of parental supervision and a teenager who had a history of violent behavior toward his 5-year-old stepsister. It is illogical to conclude that the repeated, brutal and ultimately fatal beating of a 5-year-old little girl by a teenager could be confused with imitation of WWE action seen on TV.

Teen Killed Young Sister Allegedly Using 'WWE Style Moves,' WWE Issues Statement

The Advocate published a story about the death of five-year-old Viloude Louis, who was killed by her 13-year-old brother after he allegedly used wrestling moves that he learned from television.

"The 13-year-old reported he started to wrestle with the victim and practiced 'WWE' style wrestling moves on the 5-year-old," said Col. John Fortunato of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

Devalon Armstrong, 13, allegedly slammed his sister onto a bed and beat her. She suffered multiple injuries including broken ribs, internal bleeding and lacerations of the liver. The boy called police after his sister stopped breathing, and paramedics were teaching him over the phone how to use CPR to keep her alive. She died shortly after deputies arrived and paramedics were unable to revive her.

Devalon was booked into a juvenile jail and has been charged with second-degree murder. WWE sent us this statement on Viloude's tragic passing:

"The death of Viloude Louis is a tragedy, and our condolences go out to her family.

"WWE urges restraint in reporting this unfortunate incident as if it were the result of a WWE wrestling move. As in similar cases, criminal intent to harm and a lack of parental supervision have been the factors resulting in a tragic death.

"Authorities have already charged the accused with second degree murder and determined that this was not an accidental death due to a wrestling move."

Linda McMahon Blogging

Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon is now a guest blogger at the Huffington Post and has published an article titled, "Our Daughters Also Can Lead America Forward."

WWE Invites Glenn Beck to RAW

WWE has extended an invitation to talk show host and political commentator, Glenn Beck to appear live this Monday on Raw, in response to a segment that aired on TheBlaze TV yesterday. In the segment, Beck references WWE as “stupid wrestling people,” when criticizing a recent WWE storyline involving WWE characters Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio®, Jack Swagger® and Zeb Colter®. WWE is giving Beck the opportunity to address our 14 million weekly viewers and our global fan base, as he believes we are offending our “conservative” fans with this storyline.

Similar to other television shows and feature films, WWE is in the entertainment business, creating fictional characters that serve as protagonists or antagonists. To create compelling and relevant content for our audience, it is important to incorporate current events into our storylines. WWE is creating a rivalry centered on a topical subject that has varying points of view. This storyline was developed to build the Mexican American character Del Rio into a hero given WWE’s large Latino base, which represents 20 percent of our audience.

Ariel Winter's Issues Allegedly Spilled Over to the Set of 'The Chaperone' with Triple H

TMZ.com is reporting that Ariel Winter's mother was an overbearing stage mom who constantly criticized Ariel and ordered her never to leave her side ... this according to a source on the set of one of Ariel's recent movies.

In June 2010, Aerial filmed "The Chaperone," starring Triple H. But according to a source who worked on the film, Ariel's mom Crystal acted like she was the star of the movie.

We're told Crystal had her own director's chair and listened to each take on her headphones. After each take, Crystal would pull Ariel aside to tell her what she did wrong.

Our source says Crystal opinions weren't reserved just for her daughter -- she would often tell the writers and director what she thought of each scene. Our source says Crystal would even order around the production assistants ... making them fetch her food from Craft Services.

The movie starred many other child actors, but we're told Ariel never got a chance to hang out with them because she was not allowed to leave her mother's side.

Our source adds ... while Crystal seemed like the stereotypical, overbearing stage mom ... they never witnessed any sort of abuse.

Crystal's antics weren't just reserved for Ariel. TMZ spoke with Crystal's brother-in-law, who told us Crystal acted the same way with Ariel's sister Shanelle when she was growing up.

The brother-in-law says Crystal was extremely hard on Shanelle, controlling what she ate and how she looked.
