At WWE TLC, Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler managed to escape with his title in his grasp. After Kingston blasted Swagger with Trouble in Paradise, the champion quickly rolled up Kofi for the pinfall. Moments before, Kingston was poised to claim the title after dropping Swagger with a DDT. However, Official SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guerrero prevented the pinfall by pulling Swagger’s leg to the ropes to stop the ref’s count. Full results.

WWE Superstars Results: Demolishing Returns
The integrity of the WWE ring was tested tonight when two of SmackDown’s most powerful Superstars clashed in an extremely hard-hitting main event. Smashing into each other like two elephants fighting for dominance, Chris Masters and Tyler Reks weren’t interested in pulling off fancy technical maneuvers in this bout. Instead, they battered one another until one man was unable to continue. Tonight, it was the ominous Reks who weathered the offensive storm and stood supreme. Known as the “Demolition Man” for good reason, the big man managed to overpower Masters and nail his feared “Burning Hammer” to claim the hard-fought win. Full results.

Bischoff Says TNA Will Never Beat WWE And the Similar Comments He Made In 2009
His reaction to Jim Ross' recent comments regarding TNA being able to compete with the WWE in 2011 and that TNA will "never" overtake the WWE in the marketplace:
"I agree 100 percent. WWE has been around for a long, long time. They've been well-entrenched and well-established in cable television for the last 20 years. It's a television juggernaut. TNA comparatively is a Kool-Aid stand compared to Coca-Cola in terms of its resources and infrastructure. The idea of TNA ever being able to compete with the WWE, although I've been out there, and I've been promoting it as such: I believe in a lot of ways we do compete.
"There are a lot of things about TNA that are better than the WWE on an individual basis. But you can't compare TNA as a company to WWE as a company. I don't think anybody within TNA realistically felt we were going to compete on a business level with the WWE."
Bischoff made similar comments in a February 2009 interview with The Sun:
What would be your advice to them (TNA) if they want to become a true challenger to the WWE like WCW was?
The people that are involved in the creative process and vision for TNA are people that couldn’t get a job in WWE or shouldn’t have had a job in WCW.
There’s no vision for that company. They are people who have never been to the dance. They’ve never been a part, really, of any of the decision-making processes that led to the success of the industry.
Some of them happen to have been working there while other people did it, but have never really done it for themselves. They just don’t have the feel for it. So that’s the reason we(Bischoff & Hulk Hogan) wouldn’t want to be there.
For me to sit down and say “listen guys, this is what you have to do to be successful” would be like telling a three-year-old how to fly an aeroplane. You can try all you want, they’re never going to get it.

Kaval then asked if they had any future plans for him and was told they had no plans or ideas for him. He then asked for his release and was granted.

Video: John Cena Injury Speech
WWE star John Cena suffered an apparent leg injury during Tuesday's Raw house show in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Cena was working a cage match against Wade Barrett that was stopped abruptly. Dot Net reader Angelo Ambrosecchia attended the show and filed the following report.
"The cage match with Wade Barrett ended out of nowhere, Cena couldn't even stand up. They had to end the match fast and get the trainers out. Cena had to be helped to the back, apologized to the crowd and said he thinks he will have to miss some time. It looked really bad. You can tell at the end something was wrong when Barrett climbed the cage and basically sat there for about 2-3 minutes waiting for Cena to get up and stop him from getting over the cage, but he couldn't stand on the knee."

Triple H Interrupts During an Interview with Shawn Michaels
Much like any of WWE’s live broadcasts, the potential exists for something to go wrong or for interruptions during an interview. The latter held true, humorously, during our chat backstage moments before the tribute’s taping. But you don’t argue with Michaels’ best friend and former DX partner Triple H. Mostly because he’s that damn good. And, well, because Triple H can kick my ass. Fortunately, a battle royal didn’t break out, and Michaels continued to graciously accommodate.
As Shawn Michaels described what life has been like since retiring from wrestling, a brief stoppage in the interview occured as Triple H appeared:
Triple H: On my bus is your camou stuff.
Michaels: Yeah?
Triple H: I’ve got a little suitcase of DX stuff. We’re pretty limited. That’s all the DX stuff that exists apparently. I just need to know what one you want to wear so I can put the same one on.
Michaels: Whatever one you want.
Triple H: It doesn’t matter to me. You know where my bus is, right over there?
Michaels: Yeah, I guess so.
Triple H: At some point, just run on in there, change and grab whatever shirt you want, and I’ll just grab the same one.
Michaels: Alright. Nobody’s told me anything.
Triple H: That’s what I figured.
Michaels: Yeah (laughs, looks at interviewer and shrugs). I found out when I got here I was actually doing something (in the ring). Sheesh. And that’s the truth. That’s how it goes. I got a text: “You want some camou?” I’m like, what for? “For the DX stuff.” Am I doing something?

First Match Announced for Pro-Wrestling SUN Debut Show: Mia Yim vs Mia Svensson
Pro-Wrestling SUN is pleased to announce the first two members of the Queens of Promise rookie roster, both scheduled to face each other at our inaugural show March 20, 2011 in Jackson, NJ.
Representing Jersey All Pro Wrestling is 2010 standout Mia Yim. The last year has been a huge one for Yim, who has been on a tear of the East Coast. From great outings at Jersey All Pro and Pro Wrestling Respect to a much buzzed about tryout with TNA Wrestling. In September, Yim was one of four women to be a part of the SHIMMER pre-show, Sparkle, in Berywn, IL. It was during that weekend when bad blood developed between Mia Yim and her SUN opponent.
Mia Svensson, also known as the Scandinavian Sweetheart, is a young upstart from Sweden. Svensson is a student of SUN president Allison Danger and North Carolina promoter “Nitestic” Eddie Brown. Svensson suffered a broken rib at the Sparkle pre-show in Berwyn, IL during singles competition with Mia Yim, an unexpected double stomp put Svensson on the disabled list and sent her right off the deep end. After a war of words across the internet, the unadulterated hatred between the two reached an all time high and Svensson lobbied SUN president Allison Danger to make the match and finally put these two women within the squared circle to settle their differences.
Sunday, March 20th in Jackson, NJ, World-1 and Pro-Wrestling SUN are set to blow the roof!

Moore County DA Says Wrestler Jeff Hardy to Plead Guilty to Drug Charges
Jeff Hardy, the professional wrestler from Cameron who was arrested last year on drug charges, plans to plead guilty in court next month, according to the Moore County district attorney.
Moore County deputies raided Hardy's home in September 2009 after Fayetteville police received a tip about drug use in his Cameron home.
When they searched his house at 265 Boys Camp Road, lawmen found about 262 doses of Vicodin prescription painkillers, 180 Soma prescription pills, 55milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine and drug paraphernalia. The street value of the drugs was estimated at $2,500, the sheriff's department said at the time. He was charged with trafficking in opium, two counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He has been free on bail since his arrest.
At a court appearance earlier this month, Hardy's lawyer, James Van Camp, told the judge his client intends to plead guilty at his hearing Jan.20, District Attorney Maureen Krueger said.
Krueger would not comment on whether Hardy would be offered a deal in exchange for his plea, or whether he would be able to avoid jail time...More?

CM Punk on Time with the Raw Commentary Team
The "Geek to Me" section of ChicagoNow.com is featuring an interview with WWE star CM Punk talking about his return to the ring this weekend for the company and his time on the Raw commentary team while recovering from an injury.
"It's been awesome, actually its been a lot of fun. I'm gonna miss it. [laughs] I would love to do both but I think I believe there's a thing as overexposure and I think people will get sick of me real quick. I kind of basically looked at it as my retirement plan now. That's definitely something I can do when I'm not wrestling anymore. And believe it or not -- this sounds horrible -- but it was really easy for me. [laughs] I would really love to do both. I'd love to wrestle and do commentary, I think that would be awesome."...More?

This Day in Wrestling History - Gorgeous George Passes Away
"Gorgeous George" Wagner died of a heart attack at 48
March 24, 1915 - December 26, 1963
Muhammad Ali acknowledged that his own approach to flamboyant self-promotion was influenced by George. A 19-year old Ali met a 46-year old George at a Las Vegas radio station. During George's radio interview, the wrestler's promo caught the attention of the future heavyweight champion. If George lost to Classy Freddie Blassie, George exclaimed, "I'll crawl across the ring and cut my hair off! But that's not gonna happen because I'm the greatest wrestler in the world!" Ali recalled, "I saw 15,000 people comin' to see this man get beat. And his talking did it. I said, 'This is a gooood idea!'" In the locker room afterwards, the seasoned wrestler gave the future legend some invaluable advice: "A lot of people will pay to see someone shut your mouth. So keep on bragging, keep on sassing and always be outrageous." - wikipedia.org

Starrcade, nicknamed "True Gritt" is held at the Scope in Norfolk, Virginia. This is the first Starrcade to not be held on Thanksgiving, as WWF had successfully bumped them out of the spot with the Survivor Series. Cable providers would not allow the companies to have head-to-head Pay-per-view events again (like in 1987), so the proven PPV commodity (WWF) won out, forcing the change.

WrestleZone has spoken to several close friends of Brandon Silvestry (Kaval/Low Ki) today, and the feelings are as polar opposite as anything we've seen.
"I think he's probably devastated," one wrestler who is friends with Kaval told us, "I haven't spoken to him yet, but I'm sure this caught him off guard, and to get fired just two days before Christmas really sucks!'
However, another wrestler who is known to be friends with Kaval/Low Ki had a totally different story. "Ki (as some friends call him) knew this was coming a few days ago. He didn't get fired today. He finished up like a pro the other night (at the Smackdown tapings), and it was kept under wraps until WWE.com reported it today."
A third friend said, "WWE wasn't for him."

On November 19th, Hoyt was released from his WWE contract alongside Luke Gallows, Tiffany, Caylen Croft, Jillian Hall, and Shad Gaspard of Cryme Tyme.

WCW held its 17th-annual "Starrcade" pay-per-view at the MCI Center in Washington, DC. WCW World Heavyweight Champion Bret Hart defeated Goldberg by "submission" in a No Disqualification match to retain the title. Many referees were taken out during the match. Roddy Piper ended up taking over officiating duties, and called for the bell while Goldberg was locked in the Sharpshooter without Goldberg submitting, in Montreal Screwjob fashion. Hart's win ended a four-year losing streak for WCW World Heavyweight Champions at "Starrcade". Bret Hart suffered a severe concussion during the match, due to a mule kick by Goldberg. Unaware of the severity of the injury, Hart continued to wrestle, but was soon diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome. The injury would prove to be career-ending, as Hart retired from wrestling soon after.

WWE's Jerry McDevitt Sends Strong Letter to Irv Muchnick, Puts Him on Notice
WWE's Jerry McDevitt send a strongly worded email to Irv Muchnick due to statements he made about a recent Pittsburgh City Paper article where he was critical of the WWE Wellness Policy. Muchnick posted the letter on his website at this link.
It seemed pretty clear that McDevitt was relaying information to Muchnick as a way of possibly seeking legal recourse down the line should Muchnick make statements that McDevitt could say he now knows are incorrect where WWE is concerned. Given that Muchnick has been extremely negative towards WWE in many things he has written, it certainly seemed like groundwork was being laid here.

Matt Hardy Comments on Leaving the WWE, Creative and More
From an interview with Monday Night Mayhem:
Why he felt he needed to break ties with the WWE, his transition over the past two months, & where he feels he's at mentally/physically/emotionally right now:
"It's been nice for me, because I needed to get away. One, my body was just so beat up and so abused. One thing with Jeff was that he took some time off during his run with WWE. I never did. The only time I was out was when I was injured, and during that time, I was doing intense rehab, so I had twelve and a half years straight that I worked everyday. I missed one day during that whole while, and that was when my girlfriend at the time was having neck surgery. Besides that, I never missed a show. I never asked off for a day. I worked hurt, I worked through injuries, and it just came to a point that I felt like between where I was at being utilized on TV, and the injuries catching up with me, and me not being in the top condition I needed to be at that I needed to take time off or get away. I started talking about possibly getting some time off or getting a release, and I eventually did what I had to do to get a break. I'm happy about it, I'm been happier & healthier physically, mentally, & emotionally than I've been in a long, long time. I've really enjoyed just having my own schedule. It's been a blast. I've just been loving life. The last couple of months have been two of the greatest months of my life."...More?

Martha Hart vs. WWE Lawsuit Update
World Wrestling Entertainment and representatives for Martha Hart and the Owen Hart Foundation met on 12/3 to attempt to negotiate a settlement in the lawsuit Hart brought against the company but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement.
Hart's lawsuit claims the company violated their original 2000 Settlement Agreement in the wake of Owen Hart's death, that WWE violated the family's privacy with the release of Owen Hart matches and the "Hart & Soul" DVD documentary, that WWE intimates the Owen Hart Foundation endorses their company with the release of Hart's matches and that the rights to Owen's footage reverted back to his estate upon his death.
WWE responded with well over 100 pages of documents to dispute Hart's allegations.

WWE Settles Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Filed By Former Employee
World Wrestling Entertainment settled a lawsuit brought against the company by former WWE Global Licensing Coordinator Fara D'Angelo yesterday, according to court records.
The presiding Judge ordered the case to be dismissed with the possibility it can be reopened by 1/13/11 if either side fails to keep their side of the settlement agreement.
In October 2008, D'Angelo, who worked for WWE from April 2004 through May 2006, filed a suit against the company, alleging that she was sexually harassed by then-Senior Director of International Consumer Products Alex Romer.
D'Angelo claimed that Romer pursued an intimate relationship with her almost immediately after she started working at WWE even though Romer was married, claiming that he would do so in person, via text messages, late night phone calls, etc.
In her lawsuit, D'Angelo alleged that another employee who witnessed the harassment told her to "switch jobs" and that when she took her complaint to WWE's Senior Director of Quality Assurance, Mike Archer, Archer also encouraged her to look for a new job.
D'Angelo claimed in her suit that she felt as if her job would be put in jeopardy if she continued to shed light on the harassment, so she resigned her position after informing WWE of the harassment and filed the lawsuit.
According to court documents filed during the course of the case, WWE offered D'Angelo a promotion and raise if she would stay with the company after she filed her harassment charges with the company's Human Resources department, rather than leave to start a new position with another company.
The settlement follows a 10/14 ruling by the Judge denying WWE's attempts to have the case thrown out, ruling that a jury could conceivably side with D'Angelo's claims based on the evidence presented to the court by both sides and that the case needed to go forward to trial.
Romer is no longer with World Wrestling Entertainment.

This Day in Wrestling History
The most important figure in the history of professional wrestling in Japan, Rikidozan, dies of complications from a stab wound suffered on December 8th at the age of 38. Rikidozan, who debuted in 1951, helped to popularize professional wrestling in post-WWII Japan, and would train Antonio Inoki and Giant Baba, who would become two of the most influential and powerful individuals in Japanese wrestling. While it was thought that Rikidozan, whose Japanese name was Mitsuhiro Momota, was born in Nagasaki, Japan, in truth he was Korean. Because Koreans were heavily discriminated against in Japan, his real background was kept secret, not being revealed until long after his death. Rikidozan's final match was on December 7th, teaming with Great Togo & Michiaki Yoshimura to battle The Destroyer, Buddy Austin & Illio DiPaolo to a draw. Stories of what happened the night Rikidozan was stabbed are cloudy, with legend and fact often getting mixed up. He was stabbed in a nightclub and allegedly it was by a member of the Yakuza, the Japanese Mafia. However, stories have circulated for years that he beat up his attacker and partied into the night before going to the hospital, which is why the wound got infected and ended up killing him. Obviously, there are many that doubt that account of the stabbing.

Fallen Angel Raises Bar in Ring of Honor
The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels ended last year in main events for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. That changed in the weeks that followed when TNA ventured into a new creative direction.
In March, the veteran was released from his TNA contract. Daniels saw this as an opportunity to return to his old stomping grounds in the Philadelphia-based Ring of Honor.
"These are things that happen, and you kind of got to roll with the punches. When I got the call in March that they weren't going to use me anymore. Again, I was disappointed. I thought it was a bad decision on their part, but it was a decision that they made. You try to roll with the punches and land on your feet."
"I was fortunate to have a good relationship with Jim Cornette and with Adam Pearce, who was at Ring of Honor at the time and with [ROH owner] Cary Silkin. That was literally the first phone call I made was to get in touch with them and see if there was a position for me or to see if there was any interest in me rejoining Ring of Honor. Luckily, the answer was yes."...More?

Rumor Mill - TNA World Champion Jeff Hardy Allowed to Wrestle Impaired, Drug Use An "Open Secret" Backstage
Bill Behrens who coordinates independent bookings for several TNA stars including Shannon Moore recently noted on his podcast that TNA Wrestling has allowed Jeff Hardy to wrestle impaired on television in the past and it is an "open secret" that the World Champion is still using drugs. This information comes a week after Hardy was described as 'unfit to perform' going into the Final Resolution pay-per-view. TNA managements reportedly held crisis talks 20 minutes prior to the PPV going on air which would have had Hardy stripped of the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, however the decision was made to allow him to wrestle and defeat Matt Morgan to retain the title.
Behrens discussed Hardy's chairshot to the back of Ken Anderson's head in October which left him with a severe concussion and wound. He said that Anderson is in a great position to sue the organization since he could claim Hardy was unfit to compete when he issued the negligent chairshot. TNA has since hastily banned unprotected chair shots to the head.
