Comedian and Former WWE Creative Team Member Patrice O'Neal Dies at 41, Chris Jericho Comments
Comedian Patrice O'Neal, who briefly worked on the WWE Creative team, died Tuesday at the age of 41. Chris Jericho tweeted Tuesday, "Sad to hear about Patrice O'Neal...I met him when he was a WWE writer and worked w him many times. Sweet guy and very funny! God bless u man." O'Neal talked to the Atlantic City Weekly publication last year about his experience on the Creative team:
It was actually a dream situation, but I think if I had kept doing it, it wouldn’t have been a dream. When I stopped doing it, it was perfect. It was just to be able to say I did it and it was like, ‘Wow, I actually got the job!’ You know, you had to audition to get it so I actually wrote a scenario where they wanted me to write a finish to an existing beef and conclude it in a Pay-Per-View match. I think I was doing The Undertaker and Triple H and I had to escalate it for three weeks and then end it with a Pay-Per-View. At the time I was really into wrestling so that was easy to do and my writing sample got the job. It was fun; I flew around on a WWE jet, [got to] roll with some of the big-time wrestlers ... and directed a couple of vignettes. Vince McMahon was one of the few people I’ve ever seen that I was in complete awe of his presence, you know? He was the man, he was the boss. I learned a lot of things in like three days looking at Vince McMahon and how he operates; it was a hell of a thing. So when that ended it was almost like it should've ended cause it was a good experience and I didn’t have to see anything I shouldn’t see and didn’t have to deal with anything I shouldn’t have dealt with. It was just short and sweet.

Boots to Asses—WWE Social Media Strategy Leaves Others In The Dust
Over the past year the WWE has continued to push the social media envelope by integrating Twitter and Facebook further into its regular broadcasts. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, now a cross-over star in both the WWE and Hollywood, cut a promo on WWE Raw to hype the upcoming pay-per-view “Survivor Series”. During that promo, the Rock quickly coined a new catchphrase “Boots to Asses” and said it was now trending worldwide. Before he mentioned it there was no mention of it on Twitter. Shortly after he said it, not only did it start a new chant throughout the arena, but it proved that Mr. Johnson was prophetic as minutes later the term “Boots to Asses” was trending worldwide. One might say this is a one off, but for anyone observing what the WWE has been up to this can be seen as only a small part of a much larger social media strategy.
In the last year, the WWE has bolstered it’s already strong web presence with a very savvy social media offensive. Now every performer who appears on WWE TV has their own Twitter handle which they use to build a fan following and actually continue storylines started from the show. During the broadcast, whenever a wrestler heads to the ring, their Twitter handle is prominently featured next to their name on the screen graphics. Their strategy is obvious and effective, providing a method to allow their show to be more interactive and leverage casual fans to tune in more regularly especially when something eventful is on the screen. Throughout the show, it is quite common to hear announcers talking about whether something is trending worldwide...More?

Lawsuit Filed Against WWE, Others Over TV Taping
A personal injury lawsuit has been filed against WWE, NEP Broadcasting, Screenworks LLC, Event Services Inc. (ESI), Sharpshooters LP and Neil Broome in the United States District Court of Washington on 11/15 reports PWInsider.com.
Shane Hawley claims that while working at a 2/14/09 WWE television taping in Seattle at the Key ARena as an "employee of the city of Seattle", Broome showed negligence while working at an elevated location in the venue and dropped a piece of metal causing the object to fall 40-50 feet and strike Hawley "causing serious personal injury."
WWE and the other defendants have yet to respond.
Plans for R-Truth's Return to WWE, Controversy Backstage, More
R-Truth is scheduled to return to WWE as babyface reports The Wrestling Observer. The currently suspended superstar has impressed Vince McMahon with his 'Little Jimmy' references enough for the company to make merchandise which they hope will sell well with a fan favourite R-Truth.
Truth's suspension for the use of smoking fake marijuana is something of a hot topic backstage as it resulted in him getting suspended several weeks after that of Evan Bourne who tested positive for the substance on the same day as Truth. The belief is WWE did not want to jeopardise the Survivor Series main event which Truth was apart of and thus held out on suspending him.
Wanted: Showstopper
Considering the explosive recent events between once fierce friends Triple H and Kevin Nash, a confrontation between them – when and if The Game is able to compete again – is inevitable. The epic showdown is sure to rock the WWE Universe to its very foundations.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) will rent 66,000 square feet of production space at 345 Ely Ave. in South Norwalk as the Stamford-based entertainment giant expands its business, city officials and the building's landlord announced on Wednesday.
"They needed additional space and we have a facility that worked well for them," Kevin Segalla, president of the Connecticut Film Center, which rented the space to WWE. "It's great for Norwalk and the Connecticut media industry. I've been working with WWE over the years and this is part of their natural growth."
Clay Fowler, principal at Spinnaker Real Estate Partners, the building's landlord, added: "I'm pleased to see continued growth of the entertainment industry in Norwalk."

WWE spokeman Robert Zimmerman said the company is happy to expand in Norwalk and looks forward to "continuing to be good corporate citizen in Connecticut."
WWE is in the processs of launching its own television network, although it was unclear exactly how WWE will be using the Norwalk studio space. It is also unclear when WWE will move into the space or how many new jobs the lease will create.
"The company is expanding and we current have 625 employees and have 50 open positions," Zimmerman said. "We'll need people to do the work in Norwalk, but we're not sure how many jobs we're looking at right now."...More?

Is The Rock a diva? Dwayne Johnson acts too Hollywood for the WWE wrestling ring, says CM Punk
Yes, Dwayne Johnson has action hero biceps, a megawatt smile, and an adoring public. Yes, he made a roaring return at Survivor Series at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. And yes, he's a Hollywood superstar now, too.
But no, that doesn't mean that The Rock's return to the WWE has gone smoothly. Why not? Because, according to fellow WWE wrestler CM Punk, Johnson has hardly spent any time with the rest of the group. Instead, he's acted like an ultra big shot celebrity, a brand name all his own, and shown little regard for the rest of WWE.
"You know, the thing about that is, he's not around," Punk told the Daily News during an event to promote THQ's "WWE 12" video game. "He's not around. It doesn't help morale when the guy goes right from his limo to the dressing room to the dressing room to the ring. He's very bourgeois Hollywood."

Research Firm Says to Avoid WWE Stock
World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (WWE) was recently trading at about $9.50 per share, near the low end of its 52-week range of from $14.90 to $8.67. Its market capitalization is about $720 million, and its P/E ratio is 17. It recently lowered its dividend to an annual rate of $0.48, for a yield of 4.7%.
In its third quarter of 2011, WWE's sales and profits from continuing operations were essentially flat when compared with the year ago quarter. But the reported earnings were actually down about 25%, due to a one-time $5 million charge in WWE's film division.
WWE's product is dated when compared to the various mixed martial arts formats available to the public. Overall weakness in the economy has not been helping matters, either.
Jim Cramer recently described WWE as a “wasting asset.” I agree with that, and with Cramer's opinion that there is no reason to own WWE. Avoid it.

Rumor Mill - WWE To Launch The WWE Network By Broadcasting Wrestlemania XXVIII Next Year?
There is a hot rumor beginning to make rounds within inner circles of WWE. Vince McMahon promised a major announcement regarding the forthcoming WWE Network in the company's investor conference call to discuss quarter three earnings for 2011 earlier this month.
The rumor making rounds is that the company will kickoff the WWE Network by broadcasting Wrestlemania XXVIII for free on the network. According to those with knowledge of the rumor, the idea is to launch the network on April 1, 2012.
Various wrestling sites reported back in September, the topic of giving up the tremendous Wrestlemania pay-per-view revenue to use it as a bargaining chip to gain clearance for the WWE Network on cable and satellite systems has been discussed.
The company hasn't decided yet if it plans to air Wrestlemania XXVIII exclusively on the WWE Network or on the network as well as making it available on pay-per-view.

Matt Hardy Arrested After Being Kicked Out of Rehab and Violating Court Order
Former WWE/TNA wrestler Matt Hardy was reportedly kicked out of rehab Friday after failing a breathalyzer test. If the legal process takes over from here, Hardy could be faced with jail time.
TMZ reports staff at the rehab facility Hardy was attending became suspicious of Hardy's behavior Friday and ordered a breathalyzer test on the spot. Hardy failed, but Hardy was "adamant he wasn't drinking." According to the report, Hardy claimed he failed because he had "just used mouthwash."
The rehab staff apparently did not buy Hardy's argument and ordered him to leave the facility. In the process of undergoing a three-month program, Hardy was one month shy of completing rehab.
In September, Hardy presented the decision to attend rehab as a personal decision, but a North Carolina court ordered Hardy to rehab following multiple summer arrests or he would be faced with jail time.
“That (rehab) is only part of the release order,” said Moore County District Attorney Maureen Krueger in September. “It also states that he must comply with a treatment program or be placed in the detention center under a $1 million bond.”
Now, the legal process will apparently take over. According to the terms of his court-ordered rehab, Hardy was to attend rehab, then face one charge stemming from his third summer arrest for drug possession. He made a formal agreement to appear in court since his release was tied to him entering rehab.
Hardy was arrested for a third time in September after a search of his home on Sept. 14 yielded steroids, ecstasy, prescription drugs, and cash. Hardy was charged with possessing a controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver, possessing a controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling for use of drugs, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chris Jericho Says TNA Will Never Beat WWE
Chris Jericho was asked during an interview with Wrestledope Radio whether another promotion could ever be a legitimate competitor to WWE by rising to their level. He doesn’t think so.
“I don’t think it’ll ever happen because WWE is such a machine at this point. Vince could leave this earth tomorrow and it would still continue on. I think it’d be, not impossible, but you’d have to have a lot of money behind you and it’s not like it was ten years ago when there were guys working in Japan or over here or in ECW or whatever that you could bring it. Pretty much everyone that’s any good that’s worthy of drawing money works for Vince now,” Jericho says.
“So, if you were going to go and open up another company, you almost have to have so much money that guys can’t turn you down, kinda like it was with WCW back in ’96 or so. But, it’s not going to happen. I really don’t think. I think Vince is the monopoly for the business and there will always be second-rate or third-rate, but let’s face it, everyone wants to work for Vince McMahon, I don’t care who you are. Hulk Hogan wants to work for Vince McMahon. Dixie Carter would probably work for Vince if he offered her a job. TNA could be a good second, but they’ll never be first. And anyone who actually says it with a straight face is probably just saying it as bravado.”

List This! - Barbaric Moments in WWE History: #10 All Hail The King of Kings
In two separate appearances on The Grandest Stage of Them All, this furious combatant would demonstrate the full extent of the intimidating nature that helped to forge his legend, bringing him into the No. 10 spot of “List This: WWE’s Most Barbaric Moments.”
Already known for his earth-shattering entrances, The Cerebral Assassin set out to shake up John Cena in epic fashion, prior to their WWE Championship Match at WrestleMania 22. In the wake of a barrage of skeletons and knights, engaging in combat on the TitanTron, the fierce grappler ascended from the depths below, sitting in a massive throne adorned in skulls.
Atop The Game’s head laid a silver crown bearing his trademark cross, while an enormous hammer sat at his side. With the opening strains of his powerful music blaring throughout the arena, he shed the animal-pelt cape resting atop his shoulders and prepared to enter the warzone once again. The “barbaric” Superstar was truly poised to conquer another iconic foe.
Five years later at WrestleMania XXVII, Triple H would face the greatest challenge of his career, taking on The Undertaker and his 18-0 undefeated WrestleMania streak. Although The Phenom was known for getting inside his opponent’s mind like no one else – especially at The Show of Shows – The Game would shout from the mountain tops that he was more than ready to play.
Moments before the war-hardened Triple H came forth, the arena lights went dark. In direct defiance of his legendary adversary signature funeral bells, the opening peals of Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls” reverberated throughout the WWE Universe.
Then, in anticipation his god-like entrance, a legion of soldiers appeared in battle formation, their shields forming an impenetrable wall. When they split apart again, The King of Kings revealed himself, wearing a long cloak with spiked shoulders. His ever-present intensity would instantly set the tone for his larger-than-life showdown with WrestleMania’s most successful Superstar.
Decorated with ghastly skulls at each of its points, Triple H’s weathered headpiece reflected the hallowed history of the mighty battler who wore it. Covering his face was a life-sized skull, as Triple H radiated the explosive image of the ultimate warrior-king.
The dual displays of barbaric intimidation by Triple H at The Showcase of The Immortals were as important as any weapon in his brutal squared circle arsenal. Ultimately, both would serve as a daunting prelude to the wars he would fight once he got in the ring.

Shawn Michaels & Sean Waltman Discuss the War Between Triple H and Kevin Nash
In an industry where lasting friendships are rare, their alliance had withstood doomed promotions, debilitating injuries and personal demons. After two decades, The Kliq was still united.
But all that’s changed.
“They pushed it too far,” Shawn Michaels told WWE.com when asked about the war between The Game and Kevin Nash. “And it’s one of those things that, before it’s going to get better, I’m afraid it’s probably going to have to get worse.”...More?

The GOP as the WWE
For the past year, a frenzied discussion has revolved around which Republican candidate will receive the presidential nomination.
I have more than 25 years of experience in broadcast television and one of my jobs was Supervising Producer at World Wrestling Entertainment, which perhaps explains my unique understanding of the GOP candidates.
Professional wrestling has two distinct categories: Heels and Babyfaces. In wrestling jargon, heels are the bad guys and display a wide range of nefarious and sometimes wacky behavior. Babyfaces are the fan favorite and these characters are always portrayed as heroes and are usually the champion.
So, how does the GOP match up using the WWE model?

UFC on Fox Peaks with Record 8.8 Million Viewers
The UFC debut on Fox which was headlined by the Heavyweight Championship fight between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez broke all U.S. MMA viewership records peaking with 8.8 million viewers for a 64 second fight before dropping to down to 5.9 million viewers. The bout, which is being hailed as the most-watched fight in MMA history, smashed UFC's previous viewership high of 6.1 million for the Kimbo Slice-Roy Nelson fight on The Ultimate Fighter.
UFC and Fox will be extremely happy with the debut figures as head toward the start of their partnership in 2012. The key for both now is to work out a tweaked format in order to attain more peak time viewers and increase advertising revenue.

Kurt Angle Comments on the WWE HOF and Kevin Nash
The following is an excerpt from an interview with Kurt Angle did with PW247Radio.com:
On Kevin Nash: I love him to death. I know why he went to WWE. He wanted the carrot. He wanted that carrot they dangled in front of his face. But has the WWE used him the right way since he came back? No. Kevin should come back to TNA where they can use him the way he should be. WWE thinks he’s old and washed up but TNA doesn’t think that. TNA wants Kevin Nash. He is so gifted, talented, and popular. I want him back in TNA because he’s one of my best friends.
On joining the WWE Hall of Fame: If I end up in the Hall of Fame in the WWE, I don’t know if I’ll accept it. I love Vince McMahon. He made me a lot of money and was like a father figure to me. But Dixie Carter is my boss and I love her to death. So I don’t know what I’m going to do. I would like to say that I am not going back to the WWE. But Vince McMahon may offer me something when I retire and I’m done with TNA. But I’d also like to be part of creative or be an agent in TNA. Out of everyone in the world, I am the best at coming up with finishes. I would like to stay with TNA and do that. A lot of people ask if I’d go back if Vince wanted me for WrestleMania, and I don’t know the answer to that. But I know I am happy in TNA and I’d like to stay there.

WWF held the Survivor Series in Detroit, Michigan at the Joe Louis Arena. WWF faced a lot of criticism for running an angle on the PPV where Steve Austin was hit by a car, resulting in him being unable to wrestle in the main event against Triple H and The Rock. WWF knew in advance that the injured Austin would be unable to wrestle, but waited until after the PPV began (and fans had already purchased the event) before running the angle and creating a storyline reason for his absence. Big Show (subbing for Steve Austin) defeated Triple H and The Rock in a Triple Threat match to win the WWF World Title.

Who Would Bobby Lashley Want To Face If He Return To WWE?
Former WWE Superstar Bobby Lashley was a guest on The Chad Dukes Wrestling Show where he discussed his thoughts on a return to pro wrestling and in particular, who his ideal opponent would be:
"That's a tough one ... I think on the WWE side - I think as crazy as this sounds - this isn't saying it because this person is on the top or anything like that but I think Triple H is someone that I would really like to work with."
"The reason why is because he has that attitude, that aggression, that I like. And I think with professional wrestling you ... have to actually look the part ... He looks like someone that if you crossed him in an alley you wouldn't want to ... pick a fight with him. I think that pro wrestling has fallen away from that a little bit ... and I think Triple H has a tough look."

Rumor Mill - Vince McMahon's Health
From talking with people internally, there continues to be the notable talk of Vince McMahon still not being himself. It's described like he's got the flu and fatigues faster than in the past, although this flu has lingered now for a number of weeks. The description is Vince is usually pretty much himself on Mondays, where he takes apart Raw and the Raw show is nothing like the show the writers present to him because of all the late changes he makes. But when it comes to Tuesday, after the grueling Monday, he seems tired and just rubber stamps almost everything Ed Koskey (head Smackdown writer) puts in front of him. So Smackdown's final product is very similar to how it's written, with all the key matches and almost all segments in place. That's why Smackdown seems to make more sense week-to-week.

Comics & Wrestling: A Perfect Match
It's a known fact that when put together, comic books and wrestling aren't a tasty cocktail. While I'm sure it can be done in a worthwhile manner, things like the last round of WWE comics and the character-centric comics of the '90s haven't exactly inspired confidence in the partnership.
However, comic books and professional wrestling as industries and forms of entertainment actually share a lot more in common than one might expect...More?

Chyna Says She Has No Problem Working With Triple H & Stephanie McMahon
Chyna appeared on The Howard Stern Show Monday to promote her first professional pornographic film, Backdoor To Chyna and revealed that she recently wrote a letter to Vince McMahon regarding a possible return to WWE. The organization responded and informed Chyna they were not interested in doing business with her at that time. She has since clarified on Twitter that she offered to return to WWE prior to her affiliation with the producer of her film.
“I extended the olive branch to Vince before Vivid made their offer. He didn’t want me back,” she wrote.
Nonetheless, Chyna still has the door open for a return to WWE. She posted numerous messages on Twitter indicating that she would like return to the organization.
* “I would love the opportunity to come back & give the WWE Universe ONE MORE MATCH!”
* “I would love to come back to the WWE Universe. Vince McMahon needs to bring me back.”
* “Hopefully one day I will be back in the WWE.”
* “Vince doesn’t seem to want me back but if enough fans want it he’ll have to do it.”
The relationship between Triple H, her former real-life boyfriend, and Stephanie McMahon (with whom Chyna claims he had an affair and then left her for), was a major factor in her departure from WWE in 2001. She reiterated on Twitter, “We were actually a couple when Stephanie was having an affair for Triple H for a whole year while he was with me.” However, when asked whether that would pose a problem for her in returning to WWE, she said no.
“The past is the past,” she wrote. “I want to wrestle and do business with the WWE. It’s business, not personal.”
When asked which WWE Diva she would like to face upon her return, she quipped, “The only diva I would want to take on if I ever came back is the biggest one, Vince McMahon.”

Rumor Mill - Evan Bourne Not The Only "User" But Only One Suspended
Evan Bourne wasn't the only one who "should" have been suspended according to reports by The Wrestling Observer newsletter.
It is believed that Bourne was suspended for violating the company's wellness policy courtesy of smoking fake marijuana, believed to be Spice. The word going around in WWE is that Bourne used the drug at a party with other WWE talents who were using it as well. The talents on the roster who also smoked the fake marijuana are said to be higher up on the roster.
Internal talks have been on the fact that a mid-carder gets suspended for doing something that a main eventer does for which he/she is not punished.
