Benoit Overload
All this Benoit news is draining. I am a wrestling fan and always will be. I don't think his actions taints the industry at all. There are drugs and "monsters" in all facets of life.
I agree with the WWE's decision to remove all tributes to Benoit. I removed his picture and the video of Hunter's tribute to him. It is erie that Hunter spoke of his respect for Chris, then we find out that he committed two murders.
I also don't understand the criticism of the tribute show that the WWE did on Monday. How were they to know that this man murdered his family?
I decided to post the video from Hunter's return in January of 2002 as a reminder of why we watch these guys and a reminder of what is to come.

Chris Erased, Vince to Apologize
Interesting to see that Chris Benoit's profile on ECW's page has already been removed. During Eddie Guerrero's death, his profile remained on Smackdown for several months after his death. Seems like the WWE is trying to distance themselves from Chris.
WWEShop.com has removed all traces of Chris Benoit from the site. Chris Benoit's name has been removed from the Superstars section, as well as all his merchandise. The WrestleMania 23 DVD no longer lists his match against MVP in the match listing and the description for a plaque autographed by all of the winners at WrestleMania no longer lists his name. Furthermore, a search for "Benoit" or "Chris Benoit" leads to a blank page with the words: Search results for "discontinued".
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will apologize for the three-hour USA Network tribute to pro wrestler Chris Benoit that aired Monday night, sources said.
The WWE and USA Network have received complaints about the tribute, which was hastily produced after Mr. Benoit, his wife and their son were found dead in their Georgia home Monday afternoon.

As a pro wrestler, Chris Benoit achieved hero status among young audiences with such moves as the "Crippler Crossface" and the "Sharpshooter."
But child psychology experts worry that the real-life violence that marked the end of his life -- in which he apparently slayed his family and killed himself in his Fayetteville, Ga., home -- may have a profound effect on his youngest fans.
"I think that this is going to be very disturbing for kids," says Nadine Kaslow, chief psychologist at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and a professor at Emory University's School of Medicine.
As with the loss of any hero, young fans may react with depression and disappointment.
"They've lost a hero in multiple ways," Kaslow says. "In one sense, you have the death of someone who was admired; that's a loss. But then you also have the loss of respect -- we hope -- for someone, because murder-suicide is such a severe form of domestic abuse." More?
