The on again, off again segment planned by HBO's Real Sports on pro wrestling will air tonight. The show, which will be hosted by Armen Keteyian (look for HBO to air the clip in 2003 where Vince McMahon slaps the notes out of Keteyian's hand). As we previously noted, HBO did interview Marcus Bagwell for the segment a few weeks back, and pulling out of a scheduled interview with Konnan. According to the press release, the segment will focus on the road schedule, lack of job security and workers constantly performing while injured. Keteyian will also focus on what the industry is doing about these issues.

Mixed martial arts gives wrestlers another career option
Willie Gunter wants to be a mixed martial arts fighter when he grows up. He already has a nickname picked out — "The Beast.” He has a way to reach his dream, too. Wrestling.
Already a winner of two state wrestling titles at Midwest City High, Gunter would hardly be the first wrestler to transition into the combat sport that has taken the country by storm. McMahon, WWE deserve some applause
It’s time to give Vince McMahon and World Wrestling Entertainment some credit for the company’s most recent moves in the continuing morass of events springing from the June deaths of Chris Benoit and family...for all the scorn he has received — much of which he has earned — Vince McMahon is not the devil and any steps toward handling the drug and health issues in his company, while overdue, deserve measured applause.

Those who initially ascribed “roid rage” to the killings were obviously wrong all along, but this finding was the final nail in that argument’s coffin, even though steroids and growth hormone increase levels of aggression could very well have been a factor in the killings.
Let’s hope that neither McMahon, any other wrestling promoter nor the fans use this finding to discard the dangers that combining performance enhancers and narcotics to the profession, particularly just as WWE is making baby steps toward fixing a problem that, unchecked, could spell the industry’s doom...More?

Sour grapes fuel Caribbean Bad Apple
When Carlito sees Triple H, he sees everything he resents and hates about his career so far.
The Caribbean Superstar will be out to prove a point when he takes on The Game in a one-sided No Disqualification Match this Sunday at Unforgiven. He believes Triple H is “overrated” and only successful whenever he brandishes a sledgehammer. In a match where only he can use any weapon he wants and Triple H cannot, the Caribbean Bad Apple believes he will expose The Cerebral Assassin as a fraud. But more importantly, with stipulations of the dangerous match tilted in his favor, Carlito has a license to target Triple H’s surgically-repaired leg and potentially end his career. By taking out The Game, Carlito could gain the respect he believes he has long deserved...More?
