Whole lot of diversity goin' on
Universities today are full of people who not only embrace diversity but who also talk a lot (endlessly?) about their zeal for social inclusion, their desire for a more democratic culture and a bigger public sphere. Often, they also decry the fact that "social capital" is eroding and the bonds of community are loosening. These people ought to get out more often, or at least away from the university, perhaps by attending a diverse, inclusive, democratic event in the "squared circle," if not the public sphere. That is to say, they should take in an event like "RAW LIVE" presented by the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment to the uninitiated)...I mean, you've gotta love the way a snobbish aristocratic "heel" (albeit a massive one) such as Hunter Hearst Helmsley could be transformed into the monstrous and (now) monstrously popular "face" known as Triple H...More?

Charity wrestlers raise cash for burn camp
Young burn victims will be going to camp this summer because of power bombs, backbreakers and drop kicks thrown by two dozen men in chains, masks and tights.
The wrestlers range in age from 18 to 60 and all have full-time jobs in such fields as nursing, security or firefighting. Only a few have any professional wrestling experience.
The Charity Wrestling Federation has been putting on shows once a month at the Timberlea Fire Hall since November 2006.
All proceeds go to the Nova Scotia burn treatment society, which uses the money to help pay for treatments and allow children with burns to attend a summer camp with doctors and nurses available...More?
