Who Benefits Most from Ric Flair's Retirement
Gibbons, Guillen suspensions on hold for 10 days
Major League Baseball has put the suspensions of Baltimore's Jay Gibbons and Kansas City's Jose Guillen on hold for 10 days. The decision gives players and owners more time to reach an agreement to toughen their drug rules...Negotiators are close to an agreement but have not yet struck a deal. If there is an agreement, the suspensions of Gibbons and Guillen most likely will be rescinded...More?

WWE doesn't pretend to be Masterpiece Theatre
And as we prepare for WrestleMania 24 this Sunday at the Florida Citrus Bowl -- where as many as 70,000 screaming, hollering fans will turn out to root for their favorite heroes and villains -- I find myself asking, why is this stuff so popular? Why do millions of people, particularly grown men, watch wrestling every week?
The answer is quite simple: professional wrestling is great theater -- a physical soap opera. The characters are attractive, particularly if you are a male who enjoys female wrestling, and like any good yarn there's a clear distinction between good and evil.
It has all the elements of classic Shakespeare: comedy, action, drama, betrayal. And it's a great diversion for people who want to escape reality for a few hours each week...More?

Just an observation...
Have you noticed that many times when Hunter is mentioned in the news, his real name is included? Look at this except from 'Alex Marvez's weekly look at professional wrestling':
A win over Michaels would give Flair enough momentum to headline the "Backlash" pay-per-view show April 27 in Baltimore against the winner of Sunday's Randy Orton-John Cena-Paul "Triple H" Levesque title match. He could then bow out by passing the torch, as it's possible any of those three performers could someday break Flair's record for world title reigns.
This seems to be unique to him.

TNA Files Complaint Against Konnan
TNA Wrestling filed a complaint in the United States District Court in Texas yesterday, seeking a declaratory order that Konnan cannot pursue his complaint against the company. In his lawsuit filed against TNA, Konnan is alleging negligence on the behalf of the company as well as racial discrimination in connection with the Konnan gimmick.
According to TNA’s complaint, Konnan agreed to accept responsibility for any injuries from wrestling with the company and agreed not to file any lawsuit for damages from working with the company.

WWE Stars at TNA Taping
During tonight’s live broadcast of TNA Impact, the company’s first ever live show on TV, Robbie from the Highlanders was shown on-camera by his real name Derek Graham-Couch with a graphic saying that he was a WWE wrestler.

WWE officials warned talent to stay away from TNA talent during their stay in Orlando this weekend. They do not want their wrestlers seen socializing with guys from TNA. WWE feels that there should be separation between the two organizations and that TNA is piggybacking off of their weekend in Orlando.

Hunter was definitely in his element. Fielding questions about the WWE and it's policies is easy for him. Putting him into more of a corporate spotlight is something the WWE should do more often.

Re-cap of WMXXIV Press Conference
...Shane introduced Triple H and noted, “I’m proud to call him my brother-in-law.” Hunter walked onto the stage and hugged Shane. The crowd chanted his name. Hunter did the “Are you ready,” bit. He said there’s no explanation needed regarding WrestleMania’s importance to the fans. He said WrestleMania is the event that all other major events wish they could be and put it over as being bigger and better than the Kentucky Derby, the Academy Awards, and the Super Bowl.
Hunter said the three-way WWE Title match is the reason they’re holding the show at the Citrus Bowl. “This Sunday, WrestleMania, I will fight for the WWE Championship as if my life depends on it,” Hunter said. “When it comes to the WWE Championship and WrestleMania, as far as I’m concerned, it does.”...More?
