WWE Settles Lawsuit With Memphis Wrestling

The lawsuit between WWE and Memphis wrestling, regarding WWE pulling Jerry Lawler from the big match against Hogan last April (later replaced by Big Show) has been settled out of court.

Memphis promoter Cory Maclin was claiming that WWE had violated section two of the "federal Sherman Anti-Trust Act" as McMahon used his influence with Jerry Lawler to keep him from working for Maclin, due to his feelings toward Hogan at the time.

Reaction from Jim Ross:

So the WWE settles out of court with a wrestling promoter in Memphis over Jerry Lawler not wrestling Hulk in Memphis some time back. This lawsuit, in my opinion, was a joke from the get go and apparently the WWE settled to simply move on. I can’t blame them for that. The promoter most likely made more cash in the legal settlement than he would have if Lawler had wrestled Hogan. The King himself thought the lawsuit was ridiculous.

ECW with Raw; Heat out

WWE is planning to end the WWE.com Heat series and move the ECW On Sci-Fi tapings to the RAW tapings starting in June following the promotion's tour of Australia.

ECW will be taped prior to RAW broadcasts and, we can assume, will also be part of RAW house shows. Smackdown tapings and house shows will then only feature Smackdown talent. WWE is hoping that mixing ECW in with RAW will help increase ECW ratings.

WWE has already informed their international TV affiliates that a new WWE Classics series, featuring old WWE footage, will be replacing Heat soon.

Raw House Show Results: Monterrey, Mexico

Complete sell out little over 13,000 people.

DX (awesome pop) beat Umaga and Snitsky, usual DX with funny references and great crowd interaction (probably best match of the night).

Very good show all around, usual face reaction (Cena being the biggest) and Carlito (surprisingly) had the biggest heat, given to trash taking the crowd in Spanish.

Hunter/Hardy Comments

Twist Of Fate: The Matt & Jeff Hardy Story topped Billboard's Recreational Sports DVD chart for the second consecutive week. According to a number of Matt Hardy Internet wrestling profiles, Triple H allegedly said of Matt Hardy's departure from the company in April 2005, "He never drew money anyway." Hardy countered Hunter's alleged comments in an online interview stating that he and his brother Jeff, as the Hardy Boyz, had been top sellers of WWE merchandise.

Well, I don't see what the big deal is. I think Matt's statement is correct:

1. Matt Hardy with Jeff Hardy as the Hardy Boyz = draw
2. Jeff Hardy = draw
3. Matt Hardy without Jeff Hardy = boring

J.R.'s Superstar of the Week - Mr. Kennedy

This week’s Raw Superstar of the Week is Mr. Kennedy … Kennedy after defeating “former” Raw General Manager William Regal in a Loser Gets Fired Match. Kennedy has major league verbal skills (i.e. he likes to talk, not that there is any thing wrong with that) and certainly seems to have ample potential. It will be interesting to see where this significant victory takes Kennedy … Kennedy.
