Gina Carano: Making MMA History

Whether “Conviction” or “Crush,” the brawn and beauty that is Gina Carano will be in more than a few living rooms these next few days and breaking down barriers while she’s there.

Elite XC, likely the No. 2 mixed martial company behind the Ultimate Fighting Championship, will make history on Saturday when it airs live on CBS - the first MMA brand to appear live on network television. Making history right along with the show will be Carano, 5-0 in MMA competition, and opponent Kaitlin Young, who will continue to grow women’s MMA competition when they become the first two ladies to showcase their talents on network TV. That’s the “Conviction” part, her MMA nickname.

WWE® WrestleMania® Revenge Tour In Mexico a Huge Success

The World Wrestling Entertainment® Superstars of RAW® drew huge crowds of enthusiastic fans and press on the WrestleMania Revenge live event tour in Mexico, May 21 to 24.

The tour kicked off May 21 with a sold out show in Monterrey, where more than 12,000 fans gathered in 100 degree heat to cheer on WWE Superstars Triple H®, John Cena®, Shawn Michaels®, Chris Jericho®, Jeff Hardy™ and Mexican Super Crazy™. On May 22, more than 10,000 were in attendance at The Plaza De Toros Santa Maria in Queretaro. Chris Benoit's doctor facing at least 150 charges related to conspiracy and illegal drug distribution

A Carrollton, Ga. doctor has been indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury on more 150 more counts of overprescribing prescription drugs.

Dr. Phillip C. Astin III, 52, was first charged in July 2007 in a federal criminal complaint and then a seven-count indictment for illegal distribution of prescription drugs, including Percocet, Adderall, Lorcet and Xanax, to two patients.

The new indictment includes charges alleged in the first indictment and adds more than 150 counts relating to 17 additional patients, who are alleged to have received hundreds of illegal prescriptions for methadone, Percocet, Oxycontin, Demerol, Lorcet, Ritalin, Vicodin, Xanax, Adderall and Soma. The indictment also alleges the prescription drugs Astin dispensed caused death or serious bodily injury to one patient...More?

Nikita Koloff announced for NWA Hall of Fame

“The Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff was announced as the fourth inductee and fifth member of the NWA Hall of Fame’s Class of 2008, as reported in a news item on NWAWrestling.com May 29. Koloff joins The Midnight Express, The Iron Sheik and Tommy “Wildfire” Rich as the members already announced for this year’s ceremony. The event will take place at the Philips Arena in Atlanta on June 7 and will be hosted by the former manager of The Midnight Express, Jim Cornette.
