Raw Takes Top 2 Cable TV Time-Shifting Spots

For the week of May 19-25, 2008, USA’s WWE Raw took the top 2 spots for cable show time-shifting with increases of 7.8% and 6.6% over its Live audiences in its Live+7 viewing audience and absolute time-shifted audience sizes of 360,000 and 286,000. This was an atypical week without any of the big cable time-shifter’s (The Hills, Monk, Psych, South Park) airing to make the top of the list.

Ashley Massaro Update - Baltimore Appearance Nixed

Update to my June 6th post about Ashley Massaro's appearance at Camden Yard. The WWE has replaced her with Jillian Hall.

Massaro posted an update on her WWE status last week on her MySpace, claiming "family stuff" as the reason for her hiatus. Massaro wrote: "lil bit o family stuff goin on but I will be back on WWE tv quicker than you can say "when is ashley coming back on WWE tv".

According to pwpix.net, Ashley hasn't appeared on television -- or at any WWE function for that matter -- since the May 5 edition of Raw. Prior to her disappearance, Massaro was on Raw for seven consecutive weeks, including two appearances on pay-per-view. The weekend before her last WWE appearance, Rolling Stone reported in an investigative article that Massaro was employed by a Los Angeles escort agency.

Regarding the canceled autograph signing, one would have to think that WWE nixed it so that she wouldn't get heckled by mischievous fans bringing the issue of Rolling Stone featuring the article on her.

Hunter speaks about the MDM and the state of the wrestling business

Some quotes from the interview:

...Next to sit with us was Triple H. Uber-friendly and modest, Hunter was asked right off the bat who his pick was: Celtics or Lakers? Hunter picked the Celtics since he now lives in New Hampshire, but then added this:

"You know I don't follow sports. I'm so busy. I'm like the only guy in our entire locker room that doesn't. I have no idea what everyone's talking about when they talk about these games. But just out of hometown loyalty, you gotta go with the Celtics, right?" But, still admittedly, Hunter is no sports fanatic.

"It's a little embarrassing sometimes, like I went to the Red Sox one time and they had me throw out the first pitch of the game, and I had to bring my nephew because he's a huge baseball fan. I had to have him stand next to me and then everyone who came over I was like whispering to him, 'who's this guy?'"

..."You know what, if you're a fan of our business, a fan of what we do, you tune in and you watch our product and you're entertained by it, [then] there's no explanation for what we do. You know what I mean? It doesn't matter if it's real or fake - There's no explanation necessary. But if you're not a fan, you're just not going to see it"...More?

More Steiner Fallout

Keven Eck of The Baltimore Sun gives his thoughts on the Scott Steiner interviews:

Triple H – For someone like Steiner who loathes the political games in wrestling, it’s no surprise that he has nothing good to say about “The Game.” I don’t think it’s accurate, however, when Steiner says that Triple H only got his spot on top because he is married to Stephanie McMahon. Triple H was among the upper echelon and won his first WWE world title before hooking up with Stephanie. He deserves his spot as one of the top guys in the company. However, I don’t think he would be a 12-time world champion if he wasn’t married to Vince McMahon’s daughter. And I do think he has used his political influence to try to keep down certain guys that he perceived as a threat to his spot – namely Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam and Kurt Angle. On the other hand, he was instrumental in making superstars of Batista and Randy Orton. And, just like Flair, Triple H has been a victim of politics at times in his career, too...More?
