SmackDown smashes own record

After a record-breaking premiere on MyNetwork TV with a 1.9 broadcast rating, WWE Friday Night SmackDown broke its own ratings record in week two. Last Friday, SmackDown delivered a 2.1 broadcast rating, the highest household rating and the most total viewers in the history of MyNetwork TV, beating the premiere by 11 percent.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown won the night in the coveted male 18-34 demographic, beating all of the other networks for the second consecutive week.

World Wrestling Entertainment has made Forbes 2008 list of “200 Best Small Companies.”

Forbes annual list of Best Small Companies identifies the strongest small public outfits. To qualify, companies must have sales between $5 million and $750 million and a stock price of $5 as of Sept. 29. The ranking is based on return on equity, sales growth and profit growth over the past 12 months and also over five years. Forbes also compares company stock performance with industry peers.

Sports Writer Compares MMA to the XFL

After allegations of "fight fixing" by Elite XC for their Kimbo Slice debacle, a reporter from the Fort-Worth Star Telegram made the following comment relating MMA to the XFL:

...Which prompts us to offer this bit of advice to CBS and EliteXC: Take a page from the WWE playbook and just script it so that Kimbo and Gina never lose. We don’t think anyone watching will care...

The point that reporter missed is that professional wrestling doesn't claim to be "real".
