The Jericho British Columbia Conspiracy: Work? Shoot?

Chris Jericho, acknowledged as one of the all-time nice guys in wrestling and a normal person away from the ring, is in the news. It is alleged that Jericho, a man who has had no run-ins with anyone of consequence (I’m looking your way, Bill Goldberg) and zealously protects his image, punched a female fan who accosted him after an appearance in Victoria, British Columbia.

As the WWE begins the run up to its biggest PPV of the year (Wrestlemania) by presenting their smallest PPV of the year (No Way Out) about a week after their, arguably, #1 heel gets a lot of ink and bandwith for, well, being a heel? Could it be....A work?

The pieces all add up to this incident being an angle to elevate Jericho to an even higher level of assholedom. He’s never done anything like this + the marks are not charged + there is a video tape + there are ready made scapegoats in the "Security" team that did not protect Jericho + tons of pub including a WWE press release = WORK...More?

Running away with nearly half the votes, Triple H proved that he has the largest and most dedicated WWE fan base among the field of legendary contestants of this past week.

Even the second place finisher, Kurt Angle, was desperately far back in Triple H’s rear-view mirror, pulling in only about half the votes for a total of 22 %.

Behind Triple H came WWE Hall of Famer Andre the Giant and fourth and fifth finishers, Kane and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.

Former WWE Diva Hints at MMA Run

From former WWE Diva Victoria's myspace blog:

"I have really increased my jiu-jitsu training. I was even training on vacation. Again, if you know me, I'm 1000% about anything I do. Now that I'm back in Louisville, I've moved from a straight Jiu-Jitsu program into a full MMA training program. I have also been contacted by several agents, a couple of whom represent current and former UFC Champions. But I think that's putting the cart in front of the horse. I think they think I can fill seats. I'll sign with someone if and when I feel that I can be a top level competitor."

FoxSports.com on Jericho Incident and Info from WWE Stars

Fox Sports website filed a report on the Jericho incident that was very much slanted toward the girl who from all videos I saw initiated the situation. The story leads with:

"Think pro wrestling is fake? Tell that to 20-year-old Ashley Levey."

http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/9201246/Report:-WWE-wrestler-hits-female-fan-in-face

Bill Behrens of wrestlezone.com spoke with other WWE stars who were at the show and they report that fans were surrounding wrestler cars as they tried to leave, beating on the cars with their fists, and that as in the situation with Jericho, the security was doing nothing.

One wrestler said "never leave the car....that was the mistake Jericho made"
