In the night’s main event, two of Raw’s finest in-ring warriors battled it out with the two-time collegiate All-American claiming victory. Though it was a back-and-forth battle, Swagger used his amateur wrestling skills and his commanding power to take control of the match when he needed to. After “The All-American” American connected with his vicious Gutwrench Powerbomb, MVP was left with nothing to do but look up at the lights despite a valiant effort. Full results.

Family Matters in Pro Wrestling
It's every parent's dream to have their children follow in their footsteps and enter into the family business. It's not as common as one would think, but in professional wrestling, it happens more often than not. Years from now, wrestling fans of different generations will remember names such as Dibiase, Hart, Funk, Orton, Armstrong, Guerrero and McMahon, particularly because more than one member of each family has been there to constantly remind them where they came from.
These days, whenever a father sits with his son to watch a wrestling match and sees a group such as Legacy on the screen, it gives him a chance to reflect back on the old days, when he used to watch their fathers (or in Dibiase's case, his grandmother too!) compete in that same ring years ago. The wrestling business certainly brings families closer together and if nothing else, one thing that every wrestling family has in common is that they are all part of the extended family of sports entertainment...More?

Nothing Tender About WWE's TLC
Like most South Texas teenagers, Shawn Michaels grew up intensely watching wrestling in the early 1980s.
"I grew up watching ‘Southwest Championship Wrestling' and then ‘World Class Championship Wrestling' in Dallas with the Von Erichs," said Michaels, 44. "I was about 15, I believe, and I just got hooked on it from there."
It didn't take long for Michaels to go from performing in front of 50 diehard wrestling fans at the former hole-in-the-wall called Junction on Blanco Road to tens of thousands of diehards at some of the biggest arenas in the world.
Regarded as one of the all-time greats (he has a DVD of his 25 greatest matches due out in March), Michaels will team with good buddy Triple H at World Wrestling Entertainment's pay-per-view event "Tables, Ladders and Chairs," Sunday at the AT&T Center...More?

Japanese Pro Wrestling Organization HUSTLE Launces Kickboxing Division
HUSTLE, the Japanese pro wrestling company best known for their outlandish, WWE-style theatrics, has announced a major change in their structure. The company will now have three divisions, each one focused on a different area. SMASH 2010 will be a pro wrestling organization (headed by former WWE star Tajiri), SMASH Fight Club will focus on MMA (headed by Akira Shoji) and SMASH Grand Prix will focus on kickboxing. Former WWE Wrestlers to Donate Brains for Research
Former WWE wrestler Chris Nowinski issued a memo to PWTorch today listing several former WWE wrestlers who have agreed to donate their brains following death to aid the research of brain trauma from repeated blows to the head.
"Over 20 wrestlers have already enrolled or recently pledged to join the study, including Rob Van Dam, Matt Morgan, Lance Storm, Ken Kennedy, Molly Holly, Tony Garea, Antonio Thomas, Dawn Marie, Kevin Fertig, and other big names who at this point choose to remain anonymous," Nowinski said in a memo. "The only group of professional athletes so far with a greater commitment to this research is NFL players, with over 60 current and retired players involved."
Nowinski issued the memo in response to ESPN's report that Andrew "Test" Martin showed signs of long-term brain damage as a result of repeated trauma to his head during his wrestling career...More?

Jim Ross Says Chair Shots to the Head Should End
"Concussions are a big issue in sports today and let's not forget that pro wrestling/sports entertainment or whatever in the hell one wants to call it doesn't have the franchise on this dilemma. However, chair shots to the skull should be forbidden in wrestling. Period. End of story. Bottom line."
Andrew "Test" Martin Suffered From Postconcussion Brain Damage
In 2007, professional wrestler Andrew "Test" Martin was interviewed for a soon-to-be-released documentary titled "The Circus: Live Fast, Die Young."
"I just turned 32 years old and went to eight funerals this year," Martin said at the time in his mild Canadian accent, sweat bathing his handsome features. "Do I want to join that club? Hell, no, I don't want to join that club.
"So either you clean up, straighten up -- or lay down beside them."
Seventeen months later, on March 14, 2009, Martin was found dead in his Tampa, Fla., condominium at age 33. The Hillsborough County medical examiner later ruled that the 6-foot-6, 280-pound specimen died of an accidental overdose of oxycodone, the addictive ingredient found in the painkiller OxyContin...More?
