J.R. Comments on Florida Championship Wrestling

"FCW is a great facility and it seems the staff there is doing a super job. I saw several young talents who seemingly have the opportunity to become stars someday if they study their craft and devote ample time to getting better on a daily basis."

SmackDown Results: Charging Toward the Chamber

With the 2010 Royal Rumble winner Edge joining the broadcast table, Chris Jericho pinned The Undertaker in an earth-shattering No Disqualification Match. After the action stretched outside the ring, The Phenom suddenly leveled the nearby Rated-R Superstar with a big boot. The Deadman then went on to execute the Last Ride on Jericho, only to be speared by the revived Ultimate Opportunist. This stunned The Demon of Death Valley enough for “the best in the world at what he does” to finish him off with the Codebreaker. Full results.

WWE to Overhaul Major PPV

Vince McMahon has announced in a conference call with WWE shareholders that the Survivor Series pay-per-view will be coming to an end:

“We think Survivor Series is obsolete. It worked many, many years ago,” McMahon told investors, “but it’s outlasted its usage.” He went on to say that despite being one of the company’s four original PPVs (the others being the Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania and Summer Slam), “It’s one of the PPVs we will be looking at in terms of re-branding. We will no longer have that title anymore.”

The announcement follows a report noting that while buy-rates WWE’s newer ‘themed’ pay-per-views is on the rise, Survivor Series suffered an almost 30% fall from the previous year.

Muhammad Ali Comes to Life Through His Foes' Eyes

Jerry Springer on Pro Wrestling: "Millions Have Grown Up Enjoying It, and I Don’t Think It Should Be Taken Any More Seriously Than That"

“It’s all a circus and it’s all entertainment. If you’re prepared to take it in the spirit in which it’s given, then you can really enjoy it and have a great time. If you’re going to sit back and just be in judgment of all this, then you’re not going to have a good time. The fact is, particularly young people enjoy it, love it [and] they don’t grow up to be dysfunctional because they see it. A whole nation has watched wrestling for the last 50 years on television. It really was one of the first sporting events on television because it was very easy to televise. Millions and millions of Americans have grown up enjoying the entertainment, and I don’t think it should be taken any more seriously than that. One thing that is very clear when you watch professional wrestlers is what phenomenal athletes they are. There’s so much emphasis given to the drama and all of that, but if you really look at it, they are in phenomenal shape."

Edge Makes the Save at FCW

Edge signed autographs at last night's FCW show in Melbourne, Florida and later appeared in the ring to make the save for Bryan Danielson.

Danielson, now going under the name Daniel Bryan, was attacked after the main event by Curt Hawkins, Caylen Croft and Trent Beretta. Out of nowhere came Edge to the ring, taking out the three to save Danielson and FCW Heavyweight Champion Justin Angel.

Edge then shook hands with Angel and Danielson before posing for the crowd and leaving.
