Jim Ross Criticizes UFC Over Paul Daley

WWE veteran and former announcer Jim Ross is always candid in his assessment of UFC pay-per-view events, and he provided similarly-interesting comments about Saturday’s UFC 113 event.

Specifically, Ross took UFC and its president Dana White to task for permanently banning Paul Daley from the Octagon after his post-fight antics Saturday.

“Daley lost his cool which has apparently got him ’suspended for life’ from UFC but I have a difficult time thinking that decision won’t be revisited at some point,” wrote Ross on his JRsBarBQ blog. “I do agree that Daley should be severely penalized for striking his adversary after the fight had ended with a blatant left hook but to banish the guy for life seems a bit heavy.”...More?

Kidsday Talks With Triple H

Did you play any other sports when you were younger?

I played basketball and baseball. My mom, ironically, wouldn’t let me play football because she thought it was too dangerous. Which is kind of funny right. When I turned 14 I went to the gym for the first time and started lifting weights and kind of fell in love with lifting weights too. I kind of stopped playing sports at that point in time and just kind of focused on being in the gym. I was like a gym rat. I was always at the gym working out. I enjoyed it.

If you could have a rematch with any wrestler who would it be and why?

If I could have a rematch with any wrestler. Probably Shawn Michaels. Even though Shawn and I are best friends is probably why I would wrestle him. We know each other so well some of the greatest matched I’ve had in my career have been with Sean and I consider him, in this generation, the greatest performer of anybody. To have the opportunity, he and I are so close as friends, but to have the opportunity one more time to get into the ring with him. Like a Wrestlemania or a big event like that and just to make people go crazy would be a thrill...More?

Mick Foley Follows Up on Triple H Criticism

Mick Foley published a new blog on MySpace today acknowledging that he could have cost himself professionally down the road after calling out Triple H
earlier this week. Foley says he felt he needed to say something about Hunter's dig at Lilian Garcia during the April 19 Raw, though. (Read Foley's initial blog calling out Hunter.)

"You'll just have to believe me when I say that my feelings about the issue were strong enough for me to speak up - even knowing that doing so may cost me professionally down the line," Foley said.

Foley acknowledged feedback he's received this week since calling out Triple H for his "horsing around" comment directed toward Garcia. Foley said some people have called him a hypocrite, but he felt like he had to stand for certain principles in this situation.

Foley, who titled his blog "do nothing, say nothing, be nothing," explained further: "I could go into great detail about why some of the issues raised (it was innocent joking around on Triple H's part, I'm a hypocrite because I made fun of Al Snow, Test, etc., where was I during the Mickie James angle?) but I think it would be far more productive for readers to try to figure out the differences for themselves."

Terry Funk: 'I Don't Want to Die in the Ring'

"I don't want to die in the ring," says the 65-year-old Funk, who has pulled up stakes in Amarillo, Texas. "I want to die on my back porch, drinking beer.

"It gets tougher and tougher in the morning. Hell, I used to jump out of bed, then I rolled out, now I crawl out. I know why I did it, but when I saw the end result, I'd get up the next morning and I couldn't walk, sometimes it was, 'What the hell am I doing?' I've got a tremendous amount of pride in what I do.

"I'll go up to Thunder Bay and when that bell rings, it does something to me. That thrill is back."...More?

Note on May 7th WWE Superstars TV Ratings

Last night's WWE Superstars on WGN scored a 0.28 cable rating, with 263,000 viewers. This is most likely due to the show being pre-empted due to a Chicago Cubs game. The show didn't air until 10:00pm.
