WWE announces that they have purchased the video libraries of World Class Championship Wrestling and Stampede Wrestling. These acquisitions, along WWE's own library and the WCW, ECW, AWA, SMW, OVW and other territorial tape libraries they have purchased, creates the largest known wrestling video library, which at last count now contains an estimated 95,000 hours of content.

SmackDown Results: Unnatural Phenom-enon
An intensely disheveled Kane came before the WWE Universe to lament the fall of his brother The Undertaker. Claiming that The Phenom may very well be gone forever, The Big Red Monster vowed to execute “swift, decisive vengeance” on any and all parties responsible for the “heinous assault” on the ominous Superstar. He then unleashed on a quest of absolute terror, storming through the halls of SmackDown to find The Deadman’s unknown assailant. Full results.

This Day in Wrestling History
Kerry Von Erich is involved in a motorcycle accident in Argyle, Texas, crashing into the back of a police car while trying to pass a truck on a two-lane highway while wearing shorts and no shoes. Von Erich suffers a dislocated hip and a severely damaged right foot and undergoes over 13 hours of surgery. Von Erich would later have the foot amputated, but returned to the ring with a prosthetic foot and continued his career. To this day, there is no definitive answer as to whether Von Erich lost the foot at the time of the initial surgery, or had it amputated later (with some even saying it was removed after a failed early comeback attempt did further damage to it). Von Erich and his family would claim he had his ankle fused to account for the lack of mobility in the foot, and it was not until after his death that his family would admit that he was wrestling without a foot (although in one Las Vegas match, his boot was pulled off accidentally, and several fans saw that he had no foot).

WWE Superstars Results: Captain Jacked
It should have been an easy Thursday night for Christian. Originally set to face Chavo Guerrero in a singles match, Captain Charisma entered “WWE Superstars” as the odds-on favorite. And then Vickie Guerrero showed up and announced that the bout would now be a 2-on-1 Handicap Match with Dolph Ziggler teaming up with Chavo. Clearly at a disadvantage, Christian amped up his offense, hitting his two opponents with every maneuver in his arsenal. Still, the talented Superstar couldn’t stop the underhanded tactics of Ziggler & Guerrero and ended up suffering a loss after a noble performance. Full results.

Asheville's Latest Celebrity: Professional Wrestler Edge
The 6-foot-5-inch, 250-pound professional wrestling star loves hiking, mountain biking, dogs…and, well, spearing people, but we'll get to that in a minute. But first, let's talk about how Edge, aka Adam Copeland, one of the stars of the World Wrestling Entertainment, came to live in our lovely mountain oasis.
“The last show here, I was standing out on the (Civic Center) balcony, on the side, looking around at the mountains,” Edge told me in a recent phone interview. “I've always liked this town. We walked around the downtown and really got feel for what it's like — an old-fashioned downtown, not a superduper Walmart kind of downtown. We liked the art, and it seemed like it was pretty cool culturally — and we love the mountains and the seasons.”
Edge and his girlfriend, Charissa (he declined to give me her last name), loved it so much they bought a home in southern Buncombe County. He's a native of Toronto who had been living in Tampa, Fla., but got tired of the heat and the big-city life...More?
