'Card Subject To Change' Gives Viewers 90 Minutes of Insight

We don’t learn the meaning of the film’s name until the end credits, but that’s fine as the newest documentary from Iron River Films, Card Subject To Change, is fantastic for the 90 minutes plus credits.

This film takes the viewer behind the scenes of an independent promotion (National Wrestling Superstars) in New Jersey run by longtime promoter Johnny Falco, a man who has been in the business for more than 30 years.

One wrestler that is keyed on throughout the film is the late Trent Acid, a wrestler Falco eerily hopes won’t one day become a statistic as his substance abuse issues are well documented, even by Acid himself. Falco wishes he could be coherent for a number of his shows, but even when he’s in the bag, Acid is definitely a talent. Included in the DVD is a match between Acid and Billy Kidman...More?

Changes Made to WWE Wellness Policy

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE has banned the highly controversial drug Carisprodol commonly known as Somas. This change which took place over the weekend has become an office amendment to the company's Wellness Policy and will mean no Superstar or Diva can use the drug even if it has been prescribed by a doctor. It is said to be a very popular drug among the WWE roster and is used to relax muscles.

The drug has been the subject of many embarrassing and often dangerous moments for the industry over the past decade including wrestlers passing out publicly and at the wheel of cars.

Jim Ross Comments on WWE Wellness Policy Amendment:

“I think that it’s a great idea. Too many wrestlers took/take Somas recreactionally much like wrestlers used to smoke weed in the 70′s. Prescription pill abuse is a huge enemy of all wrestlers who abuse them. Pain medicine, Somas, ambien, and xanax are an evil mixture especially when mixed with alcohol and taken in excess.”

Sky to Shut Down Bravo Channel - UK Home of TNA

British Broadcaster BSKYB has reportedly announced plans to shut down the Bravo channel in the United Kingdom which is home to TNA iMPACT! The long running channel which launched to the UK market in 1985 has in the past broadcast other wrestling promotions such as World Championship Wrestling's flagship show Nitro during WCW's final year in business and also showed Extreme Championship Wrestling's show ECW Hardcore TV during ECW's final year in business.

In response to reports of Sky TV’s move to eliminate the Bravo cable network, TNA’s home for “iMPACT!” in the United Kingdom, TNA officials issued the following statement on Wednesday:

“Following the acquisition of Virgin Media TV channels (now rebranded as The Living TV Group) by Sky, there has always been the possibility of fundamental changes to those channels, including Bravo. However, we remain confident in TNA’s position due to the outstanding ratings enjoyed in 2010, and our long term contract with the Living TV Group,” TNA Executive Vice President Andy Barton said...More?
