Dave Bautista Talks About Training for MMA and Leaving WWE
Dave Bautista can't go too far down the street without someone asking him what he's been doing since leaving WWE earlier this year.
"I just tell them I'm unemployed," he laughs. "They look at me kind of funny."
Nothing could be further from the truth. There's a film role with Russell Crowe in the works and a probable MMA debut with Strikeforce. That could happen in late March-early April, and the fight everyone wants is Bautista (spelled Batista during his WWE days) against fellow former WWEer Bobby Lashley.
The 41-year-old Bautista knows his window for MMA success is short, but he's used to it. He didn't debut in pro wrestling until he was 30, but found fame and fortune as part of the Evolution stable alongside "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Triple H and Randy Orton.
And even though he's left WWE, he says he's still good friends with chairman Vince McMahon.
"I didn't agree with the direction the company was going in," Bautista said, even though he admits the squared circle pays a whole lot more than the cage. "It was geared more toward the PG rating. I fell in love with wrestling again in the late '90s with 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and 'The Rock' Dwayne Johnson … It was edgy, and that was the kind of wrestling I knew and loved. It wasn't like that anymore, and my passion for it died a little bit."...More?

Blumenthal Holds Smaller Lead Over McMahon
Democrat Richard Blumenthal now leads Republican Linda McMahon by just five points in Connecticut’s race for the U.S. Senate in a survey conducted two nights after their third and final head-to-head debate.
The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Blumenthal, Connecticut’s longtime attorney general, picking up 51% of the vote. McMahon, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, earns the vote from 46%. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, while three percent (3%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The latest numbers move the race from Solid Democrat to Leans Democrat in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.
Just over a week ago, Blumenthal opened a 54% to 43% lead over McMahon the night after their first debate. While the race was closer in several surveys since January, Blumenthal has always held the lead. In 13 surveys this year, the Democrat has drawn 47% to 60% of the vote. McMahon has picked up 31% to 46% support during that same period.

The Reason Behind the Cancelation of the Vancouver WWE Shows
The WWE normally comes to Vancouver at least once or twice a year and was scheduled to return October 16th for a show at the PNE Agrodome. That event was then inexplicably cancelled not long after it was announced, leaving wrestling fans to wonder why. It turns out fans might have a long wait ahead of them as it has come to light that the WWE pulled the show after the City of Vancouver enacted bylaw changes that may keep the WWE out of town for the foreseeable future.
A UFC event was held in June in Vancouver, but not after considerable opposition to it was raised by members of Vancouver City Council. That controversy was over the violence of mixed martial arts, a combat sport that is much different from the entertainment professional wrestling provides. Nonetheless, the City of Vancouver sees no such distinction and have lumped the WWE in with UFC and other fighting promotions and have made it more costly for these events to be held here.
And it is a position it seems unlikely to deviate from...More?
