This Day in Wrestling History
In Houston, Texas, Vince McMahon creates the WWF "Hardcore Championship" and awards it to Mankind (Mick Foley). Ironically, Mankind would hold the title for less than a month, and never win it back. Despite this, the Hardcore Title is often associated with Foley.

Raw Results: Necessary "Ref"-Ness
It had been months since a vicious attack at the hands of The Nexus left Mr. McMahon incapacitated. The Chairman, however, appeared to be alive – if not well – in a dream of his daughter Stephanie. Moments after awakening from the coma, McMahon appeared shocked enough to relapse. His medical handler informed him of the disarray within his beloved company: The Undertaker has been buried alive, John Cena joined The Nexus, Paul Bearer has returned, Goldust is getting married and Pee-wee Herman had taken over the show.
Former WWE Women's Champion Lita made a surprise appearance. She appeared in a backstage skit with host Pee Wee Herman. Full results.

Free WWE Merchandise Outside Poll Stations Nixed
Not so coincidently after President Obama’s visit to Connecticut this past weekend and on the eve of the midterm elections, WWE® is being threatened by the U.S. Department of Justice of the Obama Administration with potential criminal activity for distributing WWE t-shirts near select polling stations tomorrow on Election Day.
“This is clearly heavy-handed bullying from big government and would appear to be desperate political activity in closely contested elections in Connecticut,” said Vince McMahon, Chairman and CEO World Wrestling Entertainment. “This is consistent with some Attorney Generals’ tactics that threaten litigation for political gain.”
Under this ambiguous threat of legal action by the U.S. Department of Justice, WWE has reluctantly decided not to give away WWE merchandise near select polling stations tomorrow...More?

Chris Nowinski Comments on TNA's Continued Use of Chair Shots to the Head
"I was extremely pleased to see the concussion storyline as it was executed on TNA. I think it was a positive portrayal of the issue, and it was great to see Matt Morgan treated as the babyface for his concern about the consequences of returning to the ring so soon after a concussion. Matt Morgan has been an energetic support of the Sports Legacy Institute and this issue, and I was proud to see him able to reach millions with this message.
However, I must note that I'm not happy the storyline was generated by a chair shot to the back the head of Ken Anderson, another SLI supporter, but I was told it was not scripted that way.
I hope TNA notes the cause and effect of that hit and puts more in place (training, fines, etc.) to prevent future use of the chair in that manner and keep top talents in the ring."
