Rumor Mill - Triple H's Power in WWE

Most people within WWE are positive about Triple H having more influence and power in the company these days. There's a feeling that while Triple H has had some power for years now, this will be the first year of what will be a transition from Vince McMahon to Triple H as the guy leading the company. The transition will likely be a very slow one as there is no indication that Vince is giving up power. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are considered to be the successors to Vince's throne.

Indiana Man Suing The Rock, Triple H & WWE Over Alleged Injury

The Courier Journal out of Louisville, Kentucky, is reporting that an 18 year old Indiana man is suing WWE, Triple H and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson over an alleged injury that took place at WWE's 2000 Judgment Day PPV.

The article notes, "An Indiana man has filed a lawsuit against World Wrestling Entertainment, specifically naming former wrestler Dwayne Johnson, known as “The Rock,” and wrestler Paul Levesque, known as “Triple H,” claiming he suffered injuries at a wrestling event in Louisville more than a decade ago when he was 7 years old.

An attorney for Basham, who now is 18, filed the suit in Jefferson Circuit Court on Monday alleging Basham's right leg and knee were injured at the May 21, 2000, professional wrestling match billed as “Judgment Day.”

As the wrestlers pushed and shoved each other, one collided with an audience member, then shoved that person into the audience toward Basham. The lawsuit alleges that Johnson then pushed that same spectator again into a woman, causing her to fall on Basham, causing his injuries.

The lawsuit accuses the WWE of failing to properly stage the match and provide adequate security for its customers. Both Johnson and Levesque are accused of “reckless, willful and wanton conduct.” You can read the entire article by clicking here.

Why WWE’s Dividend Deserves A Smack Down

Spending more than one makes is as American as, well, as subprime mortgages, but sooner or later it will catch up with you.

World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) dividend payout in recent years has exceeded its net income.

WWE even discusses, in the risk factors portion of its 10-K filing, potential tax implications for its holders because of its habit of paying out more than it earns (which can reduce a stockholder’s cost basis for tax purposes; ouch).

It’s an odd state of affairs because, in some other respects, WWE is an attractive stock. WWE has a nice cash cushion...More?

One Year Ago: TNA vs. WWE Monday Night War II

One year ago today, TNA iMPACT! moved to Monday nights to compete against WWE Raw. That night, Hulk Hogan made his debut with TNA, while Bret Hart made his WWE return. Four months later, iMPACT! moved back to Thursday nights. They were not able to compete against Raw in the ratings.

A year later, iMPACT!'s tv ratings are basically the same, and their World Champion has been indicted on drug charges and plans on pleading guilty to them.

A year later, the WWE has embraced their youth movement and made The Miz, a former reality tv star, WWE Champion. Their tv ratings have basically remained the same also.
