Update on the Probability of Jeff Hardy Serving Jail Time

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that based on statements made by Maureen Kruger, who is the judge handling Jeff Hardy's current court case, the expectation is that Hardy's plea bargain will entail the drug trafficking charge being dropped and Hardy will then plead guilty as a first time drug offender. The trafficking charge carries a mandatory prison sentence, so if that is dropped then he might avoid jail time altogether and face penalties by way of fines and probation.

Nick Gage, Jailed Icon of Violent Wrestling, Speaks of Drugs & Bank Heist

Nick Gage, a berserker whose brutal brand of wrestling has made him a legend in the Philadelphia-based Combat Zone Wrestling, has been set on fire, hit with chairs, tables and worse, and has seen his blood spilled all around the world.

The only thing that could stop Gage was Gage, also known as Nicholas W. Wilson, the South Jersey native who created the character in 1999. Last month, Wilson, 30, may have sidelined his alter ego for years when he allegedly walked into a Collingswood Bank and handed a teller a note demanding money.

"Gage" was supposed to stir things up at a CZW event held in South Philly last night, but Wilson was in the Camden County Jail on $150,000 bail for robbery charges.

Speaking publicly about his arrest for the first time, Wilson told the Daily News that he's ready to do his time, get clean from drug addictions that have plagued him for years, and eventually get back to what he does best, kicking ass...More?

Rumor Mill - Backstage Update on Stephanie & Triple H

Stephanie McMahon has been less involved with the creative content of WWE programming than many expected her to be at this point. She took maternity leave following the birth of her third child in August and has largely worked via telecommuting since that time.

Although Triple H does not attend creative meetings, he is more involved in the creative process and has a lot of stroke in producer meetings. He also filled in as a show runner when Vince McMahon missed a few recent television tapings.

"I would say Vince McMahon is the executive show runner and Hunter is the associate show runner," said one WWE source. "He's the apprentice."

This "source" is claiming that Triple H is heavily involved in the creative process; however, Hunter stated in a recent interview that he is not that involved in creative and is more involved on the corporate side.

Triple H, The Rock & WWE Accuser Speaks Out

It's a story being talked about around the country - two of the biggest names from World Wrestling Entertainment are being sued by a Kentuckiana teenager. For the first time, that teen is talking to WAVE 3 News about what he claims happened to him at a WWE event more than a decade ago here in Louisville.

Ronnie Basham is now a senior at Clarksville High School, but 11 years ago, he was just 7 years old when his parents granted his wish to go to Freedom Hall to see his favorite wrestlers battle it out. Now, they wish they had just watched it on pay-per-view.

It was May 2000 and one of pro wrestling's biggest events had come to Freedom Hall: "Judgment Day." "It was supposed to be a special match between two of the top wrestling stars," said Basham's Attorney Harris Berman. Paul Levesque, better known as "Triple H", vs. Dwayne Johnson, that's "The Rock", Ronnie's idol at the time.

"I was very, very excited," Basham remembered, "I begged my mom to get tickets." Ronnie's parents got great seats just a few rows back from the wrestling stage. But the fun came to a halt when the match left the ring. The wrestlers went over a crowd barrier and people started pushing back.

"After The Rock got into it with one of the spectators, bodies were just coming towards me," Basham told WAVE. Ronnie's mom, Lisa Lanham, says someone shoved a woman on top of her young son who was standing on a chair.

"I was trying to stay calm myself for him, but I just couldn't believe it happened," she told us.

Berman continued with what the family says happened next.

"He (Basham) fell down and his legs were caught between the two chairs and the lady then fell on him and crushed his right knee," Berman said. "It really resulted as an assault on a 7-year-old kid."

Mother and son say the injury only got worse. They claim as the years went by the boy played baseball and football, but couldn't compete with his teammates.

They tell us medical bills piled on for treatments and surgeries. Berman, who says he has represented the family ever since the injury, said they had no plans to sue until the WWE refused to pay for anything, including the boy's ride in the ambulance to the hospital.

We asked Basham if he thought suing the WWE was the right thing to do. "Yeah for the pain and taking away a kid's childhood, because that's the best part of anyone's life is their childhood," he said.

The entertainment website TMZ has photos of Ronnie Basham in a stock car and a recent article questioned if it's possible that's how he was injured. His attorney tells us, there's no proof of that.

Although the alleged injury happened a decade ago, the Statute of Limitations in Kentucky extends for minors to age 18. The suit seeks compensation and a jury trial.

This Day in Wrestling History

Wayne "Big" Munn wins the linear (Gotch-Hackenschmidt) World championship from Ed Strangler Lewis in Kansas City, MO. This is the beginning of a promotional war with Lewis claiming to have been fouled when thrown over the top rope by Munn. The whole war was a booking angle to reunify the two titles in a big money match scheduled for May. However a shoot double cross by Stanislaus Zbyszko and promoter Tony Stecher (brother of Joe Stecher) messes things up on Apri 15. The two World titles end up being reunified anyway in 1928.

SmackDown Results: Power and Glory

Before facing Rey Mysterio in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match, a smiling Alberto Del Rio made a bold statement, informing the WWE Universe that it is his destiny to win this year’s Royal Rumble and go on to headline WrestleMania.

After avoiding the 619, Del Rio scored the important first fall on Mysterio with the cross armbreaker. The Ultimate Underdog roared back, using his athletic prowess to pick up the quick pinfall on his aristocratic opponent. Then, in the crucial final moments of the match, Ricardo Rodriguez held Mysterio’s feet as the masked Superstar was trying to get back in the ring. This prevented Mysterio from answering the 10-count and allowed his affluent adversary to triumph. Full results.

Triple H Clarifies His Current Role in WWE

During an interview with Heavy Muscle Radio, Triple H clarified his status with WWE. He stated that a year and a half prior to his injury last July, which would be January 2008, Vince was strongly encouraging him to come into the office more. Hunter said that contrary to what has been floating around the internet, he is not involved in the creative side of the business. He said he is at the television tapings (Mondays & Tuesdays) and has run some of the shows but the creative part is usually done by the time he gets there. Sometimes there is some fine tuning to do but that’s all. Hunter also said that he is in the office the rest of the week and is learning the corporate side of the business.

When asked if he will be wrestling a regular schedule or just the pay per views, Hunter said for now he will probably just do the pay per views, but he is playing by ear.
