Matt Hardy Reviews 'The Wrestler'

ECW champion Matt Hardy reviews "The Wrestler":

"It's an amazing piece of cinema that you will feel," and he can think of several wrestlers from the 1980s era who fit the mold of Randy "The Ram" Robinson, played by Mickey Rourke. "One thing I can say though, regardless of what anyone says, the business has evolved. The guys and gals are so much more intelligent and responsible in this day and age then they were in the 80's/early 90's. And that's a good thing. A very good thing."

Waters have receded; Now museum readies a flood of memories

After flooding devastated the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute & Museum in Waterloo, Iowa, on June 10 of last year, Mike Chapman, executive director of the museum, designed a T-shirt that read, "Wrestling teaches you how to get off your back. Old Man River put us on our back, but we’re on our feet and fighting to survive."

Consider Old Man River down for the count. After nearly seven months of arduous labor and elbow grease, the museum will observe its grand re-opening this Friday, January 9th, just in time for the prestigious National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals in nearby Cedar Falls...More?

'Brother' Devon Hughes minus his longtime partner?

"Brother" Devon Hughes won't be teaming with longtime partner Brother Ray (real name Mark "Bubba Ray" LoMonaco). That separation may be a harbinger of things to come.

Not that there's personal trouble between Brother Devon and Brother Ray in Dudleyville (the mythical New York City borough where the duo was long billed as originating). Performing as Team 3D, Hughes and LoMonaco captured their 22nd major tag-team title last weekend by winning a New Japan Pro Wrestling tournament in Tokyo.

Hughes said LoMonaco, 37, is feeling the effects of a rough-and-tumble grappling style dating to their days as the Dudley Boyz in Extreme Championship Wrestling from 1996 to 1999. Those injuries never healed properly as the Dudleys spent the next six years performing almost nonstop in World Wrestling Entertainment. "Bodywise, he's pretty messed up," Hughes said Tuesday during a telephone interview. "I saw this coming two or three years ago. There were times where even getting on a plane was hard for him...More?

John Cena's Celebrity Status

John Cena’s celebrity status outside of the wrestling world seems to still be increasing, as a Hollywood research firm recently said that the WWE Heavyweight Champ was the fifth most-sought-after celebrity in 2008. Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers and Zac Efron were also in the top 5. Cena was ahead of Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Angelina Jolie. Cena continues to act as the public face of WWE, speaking exactly what Vince McMahon wants him to say in order to convey his vision of the WWE brand to the world.

Cena's merchandise numbers for 2008 were the best of anyone in the history of the company with the exception of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin during his peak years and Hulk Hogan in the 1980s.
