Jeff Hardy Pleads Guilty to Drug Charges, Gets 10 Days in Jail

Professional wrestling star Jeff Hardy was sentenced today to 10 days in jail, 30 months of probation and a $100,000 fine as part of a plea deal that will keep him out of prison. The start date of the jail sentence will be arranged at a future date with his probation officer.

Hardy, 34, who lives in the 200 block of Boys Camp Road in Cameron, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver a controlled substance and a single count of conspiracy to traffic in a substance containing opium, all felonies.

Hardy was arrested Sept. 11, 2009, in a raid on his home and charged with several felony drug counts including trafficking in opium by possession, possession of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for keeping and selling controlled substances, and two counts of possession with intent to sell a controlled substance.

As a result of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped the other charges but said he must remain in a dug abuse treatment program.

Update on Jeff Hardy's Next Court Date

Jeff Hardy's next scheduled court date in Moore County Superior Court is September 8, according to the North Carolina court system's public records.

In late June, it appeared Hardy's case would be wrapped up. A judge was scheduled to rule on whether Hardy could be admitted to a drug rehabilitation program in lieu of jail time stemming from his drug possession-related arrest.

Instead, the case appears to be continued to the near-two-year anniversary of Hardy's arrest on September 11, 2009 that set in motion the ongoing legal process.

In April of this year, Hardy's case was continued after a drug counselor became involved in the case to assess whether Hardy should undergo a drug treatment program. The assessment was at the initial stages, which caused the case to be continued to June.

Update on Jeff Hardy's Drug Case

Prosecutors hope to wrap up the drug case against professional wrestler Jeff Hardy this week.

A judge Monday was supposed to hear the results of a review of whether Hardy should be accepted into an inpatient substance abuse addiction program in lieu of jail time. However, the hearing was postponed because of scheduling conflicts with a civil case that needs to use the courtroom.

Assistant District Attorney Warren McSweeney said Judge James Webb put the case on stand-by, and Hardy is likely to be called back to court some time Thursday.

In April, Hardy's lawyer said his client was working with Moore County's Sentencing Services program to pursue a treatment program as an alternative to serving jail time.

At Hardy's last court hearing, Becky Carlson, the county's sentencing services administrator, told the judge Hardy was borderline in his need for a 28-day inpatient treatment program, though she had only formed an initial opinion...More?

Kurt Angle Says Jeff Hardy's Been Clean For A Month

Busted Open satellite radio show with Kurt Angle:

Angle on the Jeff Hardy incident at the end of the Victory Road PPV: "That was an unfortunate situation where I think Jeff realizes it now. Whatever he did...this is something that’s been talked about many times. Jeff made a mistake. If he was going to take any form of, let’s say, sleep medication... he probably should’ve waited an hour before he did that. Jeff made a bad decision and he’s learned from it.

"Jeff has been clean for the last month and he wants to come back and he’s ready to come back and I believe that he won’t make that mistake it again. But it did happen. I felt really bad. I felt bad for TNA, I felt bad for Jeff, I felt bad for the company. Jeff Hardy is an amazing wrestler. I have nothing bad to say about him, actually I love the kid. I wrestled Jeff at his best and I wrestled Jeff at his worst, and it’s night and day."

Jeff Hardy's Drug Possession Case Has Been Continued...Again

TNA Wrestling star Jeff Hardy was scheduled to appear in court to face charges stemming from his September 2009 arrest, however the case was once again continued.

The case was continued because the defense attorney had been trying to get in contact with the county's Sentencing Services Program. The Sentencing Services Program reviews cases and makes a recommendation of rehab instead of jail time if appropriate. It appears as though he'll either face limited jail time or probation/rehab no matter what.

The case has been continued until June 27th

One month removed from TNA's Victory Road PPV in March, TNA executive Eric Bischoff says he's still upset with Jeff Hardy following his behavior in the main event TNA Title match against Sting.

"I shouldn't be, and I can't understand why I feel the way I feel, therefore I certainly can't explain it, but I'm still angry at Jeff Hardy," Bischoff said on the Monday Night Mayhem radio show this week.

"So, it's hard for me to discuss what I think he could do or should do (in the future in TNA), because until I quit being angry at him and about this situation, whatever would come out of my mouth would probably be counter-productive."...More?

Sting Comments on the Situation with Jeff Hardy at Victory Road

In an interview that he did on 4/8 with The Daily Star, Sting addressed the finish of his match with Jeff Hardy at Victory Road, which was cut short due to Hardy not being in condition to perform.

About Hardy Sting said, "I love Jeff Hardy. I don't want to do anything to harm him. He has personal issues, everyone knows that. But some things are true and some are not. What is true is that it all came to a head that week and hit really big that night. I hated what happened because I wanted to give fans a great match. But I realize it had to happen the way it did."

Once the match was over, he was concerned about Hardy saying, "And after all was said and done I came to the back and made sure he was OK. He is OK and he's been talking to people close to him a lot. Jeff is getting stronger. He's riding 10 miles a day on his mountain bike to get in condition, I hear! Good luck to him."

He also talked about coming back to TNA after his contract had expired. You can read the full interview here.

Update on Jeff Hardy's Drug Case

The drug case against Jeff Hardy, the professional wrestling star from Cameron, was continued again today in Moore County Superior Court. Assistant District Attorney Warren McSweeney, who is in charge of the case, said he planned to ask Judge James Webb to continue to the case.

Prosecutors are still awaiting the results of lab tests from the State Bureau of Investigation on some of the evidence that lawmen seized Sept. 11, 2009, when they raided Hardy's house on Boys Camp Road outside of Cameron, McSweeney said.

Hardy's lawyer, James Van Camp, has said the 33-year-old plans to plead guilty. Prosecutors have said they were continuing to work out the terms of a plea deal.

Sheriff's deputies found about 260 Vicodin prescription painkillers, 180 Soma prescription muscle relaxants, 55 milliliters of anabolic steroids, powder cocaine residue and drug paraphernalia when they searched Hardy's home.

Steven Godfrey, a spokesman for Hardy's wrestling company - Total Nonstop Action Wrestling - has declined to comment on how the company is dealing with its star's legal trouble. He said TNA has a drug testing policy, though officials don't release details.

More Details on Jeff Hardy/Victory Road Incident

In a follow up from the incident at Sunday's TNA Victory Road PPV, Jason Powell of Prowrestling.net is reporting that when Eric Bischoff entered the ring to change the stipulation of Sting vs. Jeff Hardy, he called an audible. Bischoff could be clearly seen saying things to both Hardy and Sting after taking breaks from speaking on the microphone. According to TNA sources, Hardy had to be "held up" as he was brought from outside the building to the gorilla position. Once TNA management saw the condition he was in just moments before the main event, a call was made to change all plans. Hardy was noticeably stumbling on his way to the ring during his entrance and looked "out of it" according to one person who emailed Wrestleview.com that attended the show live. As reported on Monday, Hardy was sent home by TNA from the Impact TV tapings this week in Orlando.
