Ed "Strangler" Lewis defeats Joe "Scissors" Stecher to finally unify the World championship in St. Louis, Missouri. Lewis had been recognized as World champion in various areas, while Stecher held the linear championship belt. This match had been put off several times since 1925. While Lewis now has the strongest claim as World champion, the New York State Athletic Commission decides to recognize Hans Steinke as champion.

Ricky Steamboat Comments about Triple H

Another young man, 15, 16, 17 years ago, that sat next to me on a plane…6’3”, 6’4”, 260, 270...came in the aisle seat. Me…pressed up against the window. He was very, very respectful:

“Ricky, you got enough room? Here, Ricky, you can have the arm rest…I’ll lean out in the aisle. Ricky, you sure you got enough room?”

Well, as we got airborne, we got deep into the subject of our business. For hours, it was one question after another - and I was impressed by the type of questions he was asking me. It didn’t take long to know, that this kid had it. That was then, and he has it more so now. - Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat speaking about Triple H at the 2009 WWE Hall of Fame

Aaron Hubbard of 411mania.com lists his personal favorite wrestlers

• Eddie Guerrero
• The Undertaker
• Kenta Kobashi
Triple H - Yes, I know this is like a cardinal sin nowadays, but I have always liked Hunter. He's a thinking man's wrestler, and always looks like he's two steps ahead of his opponents. The man seamlessly transitions from cowardly heel to superhuman babyface to ruthless monster heel to humorous everyman. I just like his style, even if he has lost a step or ten since his first knee injury.
