Dana White To Be Profiled On CNBC

CNBC's Scott Wapner profiles Dana White as the no-holds-barred business brains behind the sport's biggest brand. White -- who is described in the segment as a cross between George Foreman and Jack Welch -- had the vision to take the company to where it is today: the fastest growing sport in the United States. Wednesday, August 1st at 1pm PT/1am ET.

Another Possible Triple H Return Spoiler

The August 13th edition of RAW from Madison Square Garden in New York will also be the night where the company will tape the next Saturday Night’s Main Event. WWE Canada is reporting that this edition of SNME will air on August 18th at 11:30 PM. While it has not been announced anywhere yet, it is expected that the show will air on NBC on the same night here in the United States (August 18th).

Another interesting thing to note about the August 13th RAW taping, it is expected that this will be the show that Triple H will make his long awaited return on.

Kurt Angle: Congressional Hearings on Wrestling

Kurt Angle was recently interviewed by the Tri-Valley Herald in California. In regards to Congress getting involved in wrestling, Angle says wrestling should be classified more as music or acting. "If you take the percentage of rock stars and actors who have ended up in rehab, or overdosing, it wouldn't be any different than pro wrestling." In relation to the Chris Benoit tragedy Angle said, "As much as I loved him, and what he stood for before that happened, the WWE did not kill Chris' family. Chris decided to do that on his own. I decided to become addicted to painkillers on my own. WWE didn't do it, I did it. I took responsibility for what I went through. We're all independent contractors and we all take responsibility for our own actions, If our job is affecting our lives, and it's going to drive us crazy, quit."

Triple H might be making an appearance on Raw before SummerSlam. Near the bottom of the WWE website, they have a countdown for Triple H's return and if you right click and hit play, the number changes and says "tonight".

The Man Who Could Kill YouTube

...Bob Tur, a pilot and photojournalist, hovered above the unfolding chaos in his helicopter, along with his copilot, his camerawoman wife, his lawyer, and a 9mm semiautomatic pistol. Fifteen years later, he still recalls the details of the scene with the precision of a war memory. There was Larry Tarvin, who was pulled from his truck and kicked in the ribs, shoulder, and face. That's when the shots started. Tur's chopper began taking hits as the throng below pummeled another trucker, Reginald Denny, with a cement block, a tire iron, and a fire extinguisher.

Tur knew this was coming, he says, having spent weeks in advance of the Rodney King verdict interviewing gangbangers, church leaders, whomever, asking what would happen if the jury acquitted four white cops. The Crips told Tur they'd try to kill as many white people as possible. So when the call came at 3:15 p.m. on April 29, 1992, Tur, whose fledgling news-video company was pioneering helicopter coverage of breaking events, knew where to go. He arrived on the scene before anyone else and recorded many of the images people now associate with the L.A. riots.

Over the years, he estimates, the Denny tape has generated about $5 million in licensing fees. But Tur has spent almost an equal amount filing lawsuits to protect his content. All of which led to the day last spring when he happened upon an article in The Wall Street Journal about an upstart video-sharing Website whose users were uploading clips of dogs skateboarding and grandmothers belching and, oh yeah, copyrighted news footage. Tur logged on and, after two clicks, watched his Denny video. A few weeks later, like a small bottle tossed before the mob of big entertainment companies like Viacom began their battle for control of digital media, Tur became the first person to sue YouTube for copyright infringement...More?

Former WWE wrestler Andrew "Test" Martin has signed with TNA and made his debut at the recent taping. Since the WWE owns the rights to the name "Test", Martin is now going by the moniker "The Punisher".

Co-defendant: Vick bankrolled dogfighting

One of Michael Vick's co-defendants pleaded guilty Monday to his role in a dogfighting conspiracy he says was financed almost entirely by the Atlanta Falcons quarterback.

As part of a plea agreement, Tony Taylor pledged to fully cooperate with the government in its prosecution of Vick and two other men accused of running an interstate dogfighting enterprise known as "Bad Newz Kennels" on Vick's property in rural Surry County.

"The 'Bad Newz Kennels' operation and gambling monies were almost exclusively funded by Vick," a summary of facts supporting the plea agreement and signed by Taylor states...More?

Mika Brzezinski to Paris Hilton: I owe you three million.

With her June 26 "Who Cares About Hilton" tirade at three-million hits and counting on YouTube, MSNBC freelancer Brzezinski has been flooded with offers. Not bad for the former CBS "it" girl, who left The Eye unhappily in July 2006.

After her on-air Paris snit, "I was hoping I didn't come off as a train wreck," says Mika B., a regular on Joe Scarborough's Morning Joe and host of her own 10am ET hour. Suddenly, "my BlackBerry and phone were ringing off the hook. It was outrageous. I think I touched a nerve; that people were sick of this crap. Within the next couple of weeks, I got my own show and NBC was firming up a contract."...More?

TNA Signs NFL Star Pacman Jones

TNA has once again embarassed itself and the wrestling industry by signing Adam "Pacman" Jones to a short-term deal, according to Hope Hines of WTFV, Ch. 5, news in Nashville.

Pacman Jones was suspended by the NFL recently after being linked by several sources to a Las Vegas shooting that left a man paralyzed from the waist down. Ironically, Tom Urbanski - the man who was the manager of the strip club at which the accident ocurred during NBA All-Star weekend - used to wrestle for AWA in the 1980s.

The signing was supposed to be kept secret until Tuesday when Jeff Jarrett comes back from his international trip, but has been confirmed by Dave Meltzer. With the recent events in professional wrestling, including Congress demanding documentation regarding WWE's Wellness Policy, this is a really ill-timed move by TNA.

Wrestler copycat suicide fear

An American wrestler who worshipped Chris Benoit has taken his own life, with worries it may have been a copycat suicide.

James Fawcett, who wrestled under the name Devil Bhudakhan in the Pittsburgh area, hanged himself a fortnight ago, The Sun newspaper has reported. He was 31-years-old.

His death came just three weeks after that of Benoit, who committed suicide by hanging after murdering his wife and seven-year-old son...More?
