WWE Studios Direct to DVD Strategy Paying Off
Press Release: WWE Tribute to the Troops 2010
World Wrestling Entertainment®, in conjunction with NBC, will honor the United States Armed Forces with its third annual telecast of its holiday special, "WWE Tribute to the Troops." This year, top WWE Superstars and Divas will travel to Fort Hood, Texas to entertain the nearly 350,000 military personnel, family members, and civilians that make up the largest active duty armored post in the United States Armed Services. Thousands of men and women from Fort Hood have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The hour-long special will air Saturday, December 18 (9-10 p.m. ET / 8-9 p.m. CT) on NBC.
"WWE Tribute to the Troops" will chronicle WWE Superstars and Divas visiting Fort Hood to meet with the troops and their families this holiday season, culminating with a special live in-ring performance in front of thousands of military personnel. In the grand tradition of Bob Hope, this year's show will feature appearances by The View's Sherri Shepherd and Miss USA, Rima Fakih, and performances by special musical guests and a comedian to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
In keeping with the spirit of "Tribute to the Troops" of bringing a little piece of Americana to our men and women overseas, WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon along with WWE Superstars Kelly Kelly®, Big Show®, and Eve™ will also head to Afghanistan on a goodwill tour in early December. This tour will be highlighted on the special.
This trip marks the eighth consecutive year that WWE will bring its one of a kind entertainment to our service men and women to thank them for their commitment to the country and recognition of their sacrifices. "WWE Tribute to the Troops" has become a holiday tradition and is considered TV's most patriotic and heartwarming show of the year.

Linda McMahon Speaks On "Stand Up For WWE" Campaign, Her Future
It’s been over a week since Connecticut voters did what everyone expected them to do and made Richard Blumenthal their next Senator. But chances are, you’re probably wondering how soon we can get WWE CEO Linda McMahon back into a political race, such was her dynamism. Well, good news, everyone — this morning, McMahon takes to the Connecticut Post’s CT Elections blog so that she can be tellllling yoooou, she is not gooooooing:
“So I don’t regret any of that, at all,” McMahon said in a phone interview from her pad in Boca Raton, Fla. “I was making an investment to serve and I think that’s a really good thing. I think you have to go into any kind of endeavor knowing what your downside is when you get into it.”
While her $50 million did not translate to a victory, McMahon said it did buy her name recognition that she can parlay if she decides to run for office again.
“I do not think I would have to spend anywhere near that amount of money,” McMahon said. “No one knew who I was. I made an investment and I certainly would not have to do that again.”
What may be lost on McMahon — live from Boca Raton, Florida — is that the $50 million she was willing to spend on her own behalf was her biggest selling point with the state and national GOP. But nevermind: McMahon is giving another run some unspecific consideration:
“McMahon made it no secret that she is eyeing public office, though she wouldn’t specifically say which direction she will go.
“Sure. I’ll be moving forward this next year,” McMahon said. “I have a couple (of avenues) to pursue. You’ll have to stay tuned.”
Might this mean some sort of cage match with incumbent Senator Joe Lieberman, who would be up for re-election in 2012?

After 10 years of continuous operation, New England Championship Wrestling is closing its doors in its current form.
The company leaves behind a legacy of great talent, great moments and innovations that have altered the landscape of our industry.
While it's with great sadness that I am leaving New England Championship Wrestling behind for now, I am extremely proud of all we have done and the lives that have been touched and changed for the better by something we did as a company.
Most importantly, I want to thank you - our fans, our friends and our colleagues - for sharing with us in this decade long adventure called New England Championship Wrestling.

Media Life Magazine on WWE and its Advertisers
The WWE's audience skews young and male, but another attractive thing about its audience is its diversity. It's very popular among Hispanics and Blacks, where it ranks among the top 20 on TV and draws a big audience at live events.
That makes those WWE events a good place for advertisers who want to reach young, diverse crowds.
Though advertisers have voiced concerns about raunchiness in the past, over recent years the entertainment company has made a conscious effort to keep its content PG to appease both parents and advertisers...More?
