World Wrestling Entertainment on Thursday denied a report from wrestling author Irv Muchnick that the company fired its general counsel over a sexual harassment claim.
In an e-mail to CorpCounsel.com, the WWE said general counsel Jared Bartie "was not terminated by WWE. Jared Bartie and WWE have parted ways amicably. James Langham is acting general counsel for WWE."
According to Muchnick's report, a female co-worker from the company's sales department accused Bartie, the WWE's executive VP and general counsel overseeing legal and business affairs, of making unwanted advances on her at a WrestleMania 26 after-party in late March 2010.
