WWE Responds To Claims Made In Latest Linda McMahon Attack Ad

CTNewsJunkie.com has an article about Linda McMahon rebuking some claims that her U.S. Senate opponent, U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy, made during a recent ad. In the ad, Murphy claims that WWE shifted profits overseas to avoid paying taxes, and that WWE denies employees healthcare and disability.

Brian Flynn, WWE senior vice president of marketing and communications, admitted that the company has working capital outside of the U.S. for "standard business operations such as payroll and marketing expenses." He also said that the company paid an effective U.S. tax rate of 37 percent in 2009, which he noted was "almost 30 percent higher than the average effective tax rate for U.S. companies, which was 29 percent."

Flynn also stated that all 700 "full-time WWE corporate employees" have health insurance, and that performers are required to have health insurance before signing with the company. He noted that no performer makes less than $100,000 / year, and that the average salary is $250,000 / year, which he says enables wrestlers to be able to afford health insurance.
