Still Lashed to the Mast of Controversy

If Bobby Lashley, 32, thought his MMA life would be free from beyond-the-ring drama (a regular element in his pro wrestling stint from fall 2005 to winter 2008), the events surrounding his second MMA bout have blown that belief sky-high.

Lashley was poised to move up in caliber from his inaugural tussle, a Dec. 12, 2008 fight against fellow first-timer Joshua Franklin. His next opponent: Shamrock, a UFC Hall of Famer and 45-year-old first-generation icon from way back when they used to call the sport "extreme fighting." Then word came down from on high -- the California State Athletic Commission -- that Shamrock had tested positive for three banned substances in his previous bout, a knockout win over Ross Clifton on Feb. 13 in Fresno...More?

Bobby Lashley Wins First MMA Fight

Bobby Lashley won his MMA debut fight against Joshia Franklin in 41 seconds. The match took place at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. Lashley scored a takedown and then opened up the head of Franklin with vicious punches, which caused the ref to stop the fight. This was Franklin's first fight as well.

Former WWE pro wrestler Bobby Lashley joins ATT

Former WWE pro wrestler Bobby Lashley has joined the American Top Team.

Lashley, 32, carries with him a strong base in amateur wrestling. The Kansas-born big man won three national amateur wrestling championships while attending Missouri Valley College from 1995-1998. He is also a former National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) wrestling champion.

Lashley joins a camp that includes UFC competitors Thiago Alves, Thiago Silva, Wilson Gouveia, Cole Miller and Ben Saunders. Lashley signed in June to compete for the upstart American Fight League.

Bobby Lashley signs with American Fight League

Former World Wrestling Entertainment performer and decorated amateur wrestler Bobby Lashley is the latest signing for the Kentucky-based American Fight League.

A source close to the 31-year-old told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Lashley will be introduced as an AFL signee -- perhaps the organization's biggest to date -- during tonight's "Bulletproof" show at Phillips Arena in Atlanta...More?

Bobby Lashley's wrestling return

Tonight, Friday, May 23, is former ECW Champion Bobby Lashley’s first return to the wrestling ring since being released by WWE, according to a news item posted on 1Wrestling.com May 22. His return will be for Booker T’s Texas PWA organization in Texas. The event will be held at the Pasadena Convention Center starting at 7:30 p.m.
