WCW held its 17th-annual "Starrcade" pay-per-view at the MCI Center in Washington, DC. WCW World Heavyweight Champion Bret Hart defeated Goldberg by "submission" in a No Disqualification match to retain the title. Many referees were taken out during the match. Roddy Piper ended up taking over officiating duties, and called for the bell while Goldberg was locked in the Sharpshooter without Goldberg submitting, in Montreal Screwjob fashion. Hart's win ended a four-year losing streak for WCW World Heavyweight Champions at "Starrcade". Bret Hart suffered a severe concussion during the match, due to a mule kick by Goldberg. Unaware of the severity of the injury, Hart continued to wrestle, but was soon diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome. The injury would prove to be career-ending, as Hart retired from wrestling soon after.
Madusa defeats Evan Karagias to win the Cruiserweight Championship at Starrcade. This was the first time a woman was crowned with this title.

Bret Hart Talks About WWE 13 Video Game, Triple H
WWE.com is featuring an interview with WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart where he talks about the new WWE 13 video game and wishing he had worked more with Triple H.
On the new WWE 13 video game:"The games have gotten progressively better every year since they started coming out, and the thing about wrestling today is you can actually play these games and build your match much like the way wrestlers do with the psychology behind them. In "WWE '13," you can actually incorporate that into the game. If you want to punish a guy's back or his leg, you can do that kind of stuff. You can do almost any move. There's a lot of legitimate ring psychology wrestling fans and novices can apply to the game. I think that just adds to the realism of the game. Every time you play these games, they get more and more real."
Who he wished he could have worked with more from the Attitude Era:"If I could go back in time, I would have loved to have done more with Triple H. He blossomed into a bigger star after I left. I regret, looking back now, that we didn't have more matches, or better matches or at least one pay-per-view match where we could have really showed our best stuff — or at least, I did. He's a guy that he and I had some situation together, and I think it worked well on Monday Night Raw, but we never really had the chance to show what we could really do."
