Our Lady Peace Comments on Retiring Chris Benoit's Theme Song

Some bands refuse to play some of their songs live. Radiohead immediately comes to mind, because for the most part, they rarely perform their mega-hit "Creep" on tour. The reasoning varies from band to band, but in the case of Thom Yorke and company I'm pretty sure they nixed that song from any set because they despise all it stood for when it came out in the grunge rock era. I could be wrong, but it really doesn't matter. In the case of Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace, they've chosen to take one of their popular songs off any set list for an entirely different reason. In a nutshell, the track comes with way too much baggage.

"Whatever" was the entrance song for fellow Canadian star and former WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) superstar Chris Benoit, whose wrestling career and life ended in a murder-suicide in 2007. In an interview just prior to their show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on April 5, the band's frontman Raine Maida and guitarist Steve Mazur discussed how they've had to retire the song altogether because of the incomprehensible tragedy that took place...More?

Maven Seeking Treatment for Prescription Pill Problem With Help From WWE

Former WWE superstar Maven Huffman has agreed to seek professional help in the hopes of kicking his prescription drug addiction ... and he's getting some help from his old pals at the WWE.

Maven's attorney, James Flynn, tells TMZ ... the 35-year-old has agreed to participate in the WWE's "Former Talent Rehab Program" ... after he was arrested last month for wrongfully obtaining more than 1000 pills of prescription painkillers.

"Yes, Maven is planning on working with the WWE and he was really impressed by their gesture to assist him" ... the lawyer tells us.

As we previously reported, the WWE says it will pay for 100% of any rehab or treatment program for former WWE wrestlers ... as long as the wrestler wants the help.

Maven's attorney adds, "It is Maven's sincere hope to use his experience to aid in the prevention of substance abuse and serve as an example to his fellow wrestlers and community at large."

"Maven would also like his supporters to know that he is humbled by the outpouring of support he has received over the past week and he sincerely apologizes to any of his family members, friends, and fans who have had to read the press surrounding recent events.'

Maven's lawyer says the wrestler is NOT admitting any criminal wrongdoing ... but says he "intends to cooperate with local law enforcement agencies to reach a timely resolution to the matter."

A rep for the WWE tells us, "We wish Maven nothing but the best."

Scott Hall Arrested For Beating Girlfriend

Wrestling legend Scott Hall was arrested Friday after allegedly choking out his girlfriend in a drunken fit of rage -- this according to the arrest report, obtained by TMZ.

According to the report, cops were called to Scott's Florida home over a domestic disturbance in progress around 5pm. When they arrived, Scott's GF Lisa Howell informed police he had attacked her.

According to Lisa, Scott had been drinking for days and the two had gotten into some kind of argument. Lisa says she got into her car, and in a blind rage, Scott grabbed her by the throat and tried to pull her out of the driver's seat.

According to the report, police confronted Scott -- who appeared heavily intoxicated with an "unknown white secretion flowing from both sides of his mouth" -- but he denied ever getting violent.

Police observed several signs of physical injury on Lisa -- including red marks around her neck -- so they placed Scott under arrest for domestic battery.

Scott -- billed at 6'7" and 287 pounds -- required TWO sets of handcuffs.

But his problems didn't end there -- according to the report, Scott was so drunk ... the jail refused to book him ... so the arresting officer had to drag him to a nearby hospital to get medical clearance.

The physicians gave their thumbs up and Scott was brought back to the correctional facility, where he was finally booked on the domestic violence charge.

Lisa has refused to press charges. So far, it's unclear if the case will move forward.

JR Comments on The Undertaker, Triple H & Shawn Michaels at WM28

After watching HIAC from WM28, challenging because I don't like listening to myself (I know...I could have muted the sound but my wife wanted to hear the commentary) I am hard pressed to name any match that was more better executed that what I saw between HHH and Undertaker. Their match stole the show, in my opinion, and was one of the best bouts that I ever had the honor of calling. The gutteral physicality was extraordinary.

I don't have a crystal ball but I'd be surpirsed to see HHH, @ShawnMichaels and the Undertaker, all together, ever being in the ring as participants at a WrestleMania or any other WWE event ever again. The final chapter of an amazing book was seemingly written and the book closed on Sunday in Miami.

Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena Announced For WWE Extreme Rules

Following the announcement, Cena came to the ring and slapped Lesnar, causing a fight to ensue, which brought out nearly the entire locker room. The segment caused Cena to get a busted, bloodied mouth.

The Great Ruse: The Comedic Genius Who Rocked Wrestling

Long before comedian Sacha Baron Cohen's Borat hit the screen, there was Kaufman, the comedic genius with wiry hair and bulging eyes who pushed the envelope of performance art on a real-time stage. And the whole wrestling episode -- inside the ring and out -- was performance art at its peak. For Kaufman, the fact that so few people caught on made it all the better.

"The reason he's still remembered is he took that idea of being a despicable bad guy and he took it to a whole new level," says Bob Thompson, a professor of pop culture at Syracuse University.

"His badness came not from wanting to take over the world; his badness came from being just so irritating. This was a character, probably more than any I can think of in American popular culture history, that within seconds of hearing him open his mouth, you really wanted to hit him in the face."

Kaufman's wrestling antics would later be immortalized in his infamous expletive-laced tirade on "Late Night with David Letterman," in the R.E.M. song "Man on the Moon" and in the Jim Carrey movie by the same name...More?
