WWE Officials Reportedly Hold Meeting Regarding NXT Talent Pay Structure; Will They Start To Get Bonuses?

PWInsider.com is reporting there was a meeting at the WWE Performance Center last week that addressed the NXT pay structure.

Over the past several weeks and months, the idea of NXT talent getting pay similar to main roster stars has been discussed, more now since NXT is more of a third ‘brand’ and not developmental. One of the things discussed was live gate percentage bonuses, which will not happen, according to reports. Talent in NXT will still be paid based on their developmental contracts; one of the reasons is because NXT operates at as loss right now. Between coaches and staff salaries and WWE PC cost, there is not any money to share from live events.

It was mentioned that although NXT talents are on lower paid contracts, they do have travel costs paid for, and they do see money from merchandise, which was not available to developmental in the past.

Some talent was said to be unhappy with the decision, since they are selling out larger arenas, like the December tour of the United Kingdom. It is worth noting, and has been brought up before, that for every sellout show they run, there are a number of live events with lower attendance (like in Florida) which offset the profits and are a reason NXT still runs at a loss.

Yesterday, we reported that WWE Diva Jasmin, real name Nhooph Al-Areebi, posted some controversial remarks on social media a few years back and they recently resurfaced online. You can read our original story at this link.

WWE has issued the following statement in response to the social media posts:

WWE NXT Diva Deletes Her Twitter Account After Racial Posts Surface Online

One week after Zahra Schreiber was released by WWE due to inappropriate and offensive remarks she made online years ago, another NXT talent is mired in a similar controversy.

On Tuesday night, racial remarks that 20-year-old NXT Diva Nhooph Al-Areebi allegedly posted on her Twitter account years ago surfaced on Reddit.com. In one of her tweets, dated February 11, 2012, she quoted a tweet reading "Ugh...f--king n--gers...that's why I chose white folk. Hmph" and wrote "word." It should be noted that she would have only been 17 years old at the time.

That same night, Al-Areebi wrote "why are black people so horny" in response to a user who tweeted this remark to her: "mind if I lick between your Toes to get the salt glue off baby mmmmmmm jam."

An additional tweet where she wrote "nigha lips" to a user was also revealed (dated September 22, 2011).

Al-Areebi had posted a photo on Instagram last year of herself and a black male wrestler where she referred to him as her slave.

"My slave Preston Myles needs to stop acting like I weigh 200 lbs!" she wrote in the summer of 2014. "Someone buy me a whip plz!"

In a separate Instagram post, which is still online, she wrote "And @prestonmyles is so black you can't see him."

Shortly after the posts began circulating online, Al-Areebi deactivated her Twitter account and removed the first Instagram photo.

Al-Areebi, who is from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, was among the international class of 11 recruits to begun training at the WWE Performance Center in April. Prior to joining WWE, Al-Areebi wrestled under the name Jasmin Areebi for various independent promotions in Canada and the United States including Pure Wrestling Association (PWA), Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW), and New England Championship Wrestling (NECW). She has yet to make her in-ring debut on the NXT television show, but has been competing in non-televised matches under the name Jasmin. On August 29, 2015 at a non-televised event in Fort Pierce, Florida, she competed in the main event. Alongside The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch), the trio defeated Alexa Bliss, Blake and Murphy in Mixed Tag Team Match.

WWE Divas Alicia Fox and Paige Involved in Steakhouse Melee

WWE Divas Alicia Fox and Paige took a break from inflicting pain upon each other and combined forces against a drunk bar patron.

A waiter at Supano's Prime Steakhouse, Seafood, and Pasta in Baltimore tells us the Divas were grabbing a drink late Sunday night when one of the regular barflies came in and began harassing them by taking pictures and videos.

We're told Paige and Alicia squared off against the lady ... and all hell then broke loose as drinks flew from both corners ... mostly margaritas.

Employees jumped in and stopped the fight ... the drunk lady and the Divas were all booted from the restaurant.

WWE is in Baltimore for Monday Night RAW ... hopefully they hide the glassware.

Read Triple H's introduction to the new book, "Ultimate Warrior: A Life Lived 'Forever'"

WWE is paying tribute to the amazing life and legacy of Ultimate Warrior in the new book, "Ultimate Warrior: 'A Life Lived 'Forever'". More than just a biography of the WWE icon, the immersive tome is a visual experience filled with unique bonus materials, including a recreation of Warrior's Oregon state wrestling license, the sheet music to his unforgettable theme music, and a replica of the mask he wore on his final Raw appearance. The book, which you can order now, also features touching introductions from Warrior's wife, Dana, and his friend, Triple H, which you can read below.

It was a night twenty years in the making. I stood with eager anticipation and looked over my shoulder to see one of the biggest legends in the history of our business, the Ultimate Warrior, right before he was inducted into the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame. Everyone expected intensity and for him to rant and rave in his speech, but in that moment I saw one of the toughest hard-as-nails men in this world standing there with a single tear rolling down his unpainted face. He was beaming with pride, because on each of his arms, escorting him to the stage, were his two beautiful daughters, Indy and Mattie. I walked over to him and whispered in his ear, “It was all worth it, just to see that.” He smiled back and simply said, “Thank you.”

It was a moment he thought would never happen, and a moment I will never forget. Warrior had a storied past with WWE, both in and out of the ring. He was unhappy with almost everything in WWE and incredibly outspoken about his opinions without any regard for the consequences. There was bad blood on both sides, and at one point, it was inconceivable that the Ultimate Warrior would come back to the WWE, let alone be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Even my first impression of Warrior was not a favorable one. It was 1996 and Vince McMahon told me I would be competing in my very first WrestleMania against one of the most revered Superstars of all time, the Ultimate Warrior, who was returning to the WWE after being gone for many years. It was the opportunity of a lifetime, but the process wound up being less than positive. Warrior had blown me off all week, and I wound up actually meeting him for the first time on the afternoon of WrestleMania, after the show had already started and Vince McMahon had already gone to the ring to do commentary. The guy I met lived up to every bit of his horrible reputation.

He was paranoid, mistrusting, and abrasive, and it left a bitter taste in my mouth. But at the end of the day, the Ultimate Warrior was a huge part of WWE history, which is why I decided to reach out to him over a decade later.

I had heard rumblings that Warrior might be interested in having a conversation because he had just signed an independent deal with 2K to appear in the WWE 2K14 video game. I gave him a call, and we spoke briefly; we were both very guarded and careful with what we said. And when I heard about the press conference 2K was going to have to announce Warrior’s involvement, I knew I had to go. I went with the sole intention to meet with him face to face. I knew if there was ever going to be trust between the two of us, we needed to look each other in the eye.

Warrior later said the effort I made to look him in the eye meant a lot, and it was just the olive branch he needed. Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t hit it off right away, but after a long period of time, a mutual respect and friendship was born. We were both men who had grown beyond the business that had once defined us. We spoke about life, our families, and our children. We found a common ground and agreed that a man’s character is what defines him. I promised that I would always keep my word, and he promised to always shoot straight with me. When he finally signed his contract, he wrote, “Congrats, we did it! You did really good, Paul. You kept your word and stepped up. I appreciate it. Get me some hard copies to sign, and let’s get to work. It’s good to not be at odds with Vince and WWE anymore. Great to be back home! Consider me your ally from now on. Relay the same to Vince. Always Believe, Warrior.”

Warrior told me that his wife and children were absolutely everything to him, but that they didn’t know much about his career. They had never seen him wrestle and had never been exposed to WWE. He wanted them to know that he was more than just “Dad,” and for them to experience what the Ultimate Warrior meant to so many people. During the week of WrestleMania 30, they got their chance.

Warrior was inducted in the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame, he stood on the stage at WrestleMania 30 in front of 75,000 fans giving him a standing ovation at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, and on Monday Night Raw, he reminded all of us that the Warrior spirit courses through our veins.

The very next day, Warrior shockingly passed away.

His story is almost poetic, this great man and icon who had come full circle in his life and reconciled with so many people personally and professionally. When I saw him at the end of WrestleMania week, he had this look of peace and happiness, like a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders. It seemed he had found closure. And he did exactly what he said he was going to do, leaving behind a legacy that will live forever in the hearts and minds of not only the Warrior Nation, but also the most important people in his life—his wife and children.

Warrior was one of the most intense people I have ever met. He had an unwavering belief in himself and a passion for life. He signed the words “Always Believe” because he was creating a legacy of inspiration that would live forever. My experience with the Ultimate Warrior was one that I will never forget. He taught me a lot about life and forgiveness, and it will always mean a lot to me that he and I forged a special connection. But true to his words, the biggest takeaway of our friendship is that I will indeed “Always Believe.”

Rumor Mill - WWE NXT Talents Reportedly Not Happy With How Blue Pants Is Being Used

Indie wrestler Leva Bates, known in WWE NXT as Blue Pants, reportedly has a lot of heat on her right now from others in NXT.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is said to be resentment over how the company brought her to Brooklyn for the NXT Takeover angle with Alexa Bliss, an angle that any of the Divas would have wanted to be in, that she sells her own merchandise and doesn't have to split a cut and that she's not under contract so she doesn't have to go through the daily training at the WWE Performance Center.

There is also reportedly resentment over how she's still able to work indies and because she's increased her fees on the indies, talents believe she's making more money than they are, and being pushed more than they are, then getting over more than they are.

Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa on receiving the opportunity of a lifetime in NXT

WWE's website spoke with indie stars Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa about being entered into the WWE NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. WWE notes that they are still free agents. They also talked about going to NXT from the independent scene.

"Right now, I feel that NXT is the hottest thing in wrestling," Gargano said. "There's no doubt about that. The guys that they're utilizing are some of the best talent in the world. I know a lot of those guys. I've been in the ring with Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens numerous times. You look at a guy like me, I'm not 6-foot-8, 300 pounds, but from what I've been able to do with my talent around the world, I can come to NXT and show the world what I have. Based on the past, that wouldn't happen. NXT gives guys like me that opportunity, to do what we love to do and show the world what we're capable of."

Ciampa added, "It has an indie, underground vibe to it, but the production value and expertise of WWE leading it. It's the best of both worlds. From the first live special they did, I think that was the first time that the masses saw that this was something special and the place to be. From that point on, seeing things like Sami Zayn and Cesaro's 2-out-of-3 Falls Match, seeing Kevin Owens do so well, it's seeing guys who were the top of the independent world going to NXT and getting a bigger platform to show themselves on. Seeing how well they're doing gives you this drive to want to be a part of it. I just watched TakeOver: Brooklyn a couple days ago. When Triple H was in the ring introducing the show and it was dark, all you could hear was his voice. When he says, 'You told us the future is now!' and throws his arms up and the cameras go wide [to show the crowd], you could feel this energy. I told my wife, 'I want that. I need to be a part of that.'"

WWE Going Gold for Pediatric Cancer Awareness

Stephanie McMahon, Paul Triple H Levesque, WWE and its fans are strong supporters of pediatric cancer care and research at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. McMahon and Levesque became involved with Children’s Hospital in 2014, when they met WWE fan Connor Michalek.

When Connor lost his battle with medulloblastoma in April 2014, McMahon and Levesque decided to honor him by creating Connor’s Cure, a fund within Children’s Foundation at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh that supports brain tumor research.

Article Looks at Vince McMahon’s Role in 1983 Snuka Murder Investigation

A 2013 article has resurfaced looking at Vince McMahon’s involvement in the 1983 investigation into the death of Jimmy Snuka’s girlfriend Nancy Argentino. As previously reported, Snuka has been charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the death.

While McMahon’s participation in the investigation isn’t news, it’s also not as widely known as the allegations against Snuka. McMahon was part of the meeting that Snuka had with District Attorney William Platt (now a Pennsylvania Senior Superior Court judge), then-Assistant District Attorney Robert Steinberg and the medical examiner on June 1st, 1983. An excerpt of the article is below.

Whitehall Police Detectives Gerry Procanyn, Al Fritzinger and Vincent Geiger were also at the meeting, according to police records. There’s no official record of what was said and Snuka doesn’t remember much of what happened, according to his book. “All I remember is [McMahon] had a briefcase with him,” Snuka wrote in his autobiography. “I don’t know what happened. …The only thing I know for sure is I didn’t hurt Nancy.”

Steinberg, now a Lehigh County judge, said Snuka didn’t say much and McMahon “did all the talking.” “I remember Vince McMahon being what Vince McMahon has always been — very effusive. He was very protective, a showman,” Steinberg said, noting he couldn’t recall specifics of the conversation. “He was the mouthpiece, trying to direct the conversation.”

Procanyn said McMahon gave authorities the phone numbers of wrestlers and managers they wanted to speak with. Fritzinger could not be reached for comment and Geiger died in 1984. Platt wouldn’t comment when asked if Whitehall police pushed for charges to be filed.

WWE responded to the newly-resurfaced article with a statement, which reads as follows:

“The insinuation that a group of medical examiners, detectives and prosecutors – including two who became judges – could have their integrity compromised and participate in improper activity during the course of a meeting is absurd, categorically false and insulting to all parties.

We are hopeful that justice will prevail.”

WWE Suspends Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka's Legends Contract, Comments On Removing His Images

As we first reported earlier today, WWE removed "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka's profile from their official website after Snuka was charged on Monday with involuntary manslaughter and third-degree murder for the 1983 death of Nancy Argentino. His profile has also been removed from the site's Hall of Fame section.

We noted that Snuka-related content still appeared on the site, however since that writing, it has been removed. WWE sent us the statement below noting that they have suspended Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka's legends contract and noted that his images were being removed from their media platforms:

Jimmy Snuka's non-wrestling 'legends' contract has been suspended and we are currently removing his images from our media platforms pending the outcome of this case.

WWE Removes 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka From Hall Of Fame Section On Website

WWE has removed WWE Hall of Famer "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka's profile from their official website after Snuka was charged on Monday with involuntary manslaughter and third-degree murder for the 1983 death of Nancy Argentino. His profile has also been removed from the site's Hall of Fame section.

Snuka is only the second WWE performer to have their profile removed from the company's Hall of Fame section on the site. Hulk Hogan was removed this past July after racist comments that he made years ago surfaced online. Unlike Hogan, as of this writing, Snuka hasn't been completely scrubbed from the site and you can still find Snuka related news items and videos.

While Snuka and Hogan have been removed from the Hall of Fame section on WWE.com, WWE has yet to to officially announce that either Superstar has officially been taken out of the actual Hall of Fame.

Jimmy Snuka Suffering From Dementia, May Not Be Able To Stand Trial According To Lawyer

In an interesting development, William E. Moore, the attorney representing Jimmy Snuka, told the Allentown Morning Call that he sees the likelihood of Snuka being able to stand trial as doubtful. According to Moore, Snuka:

* Was wheelchair-bound and hooked up to a feeding tube when he surrendered into custody yesterday. ("He is not in good shape physically or mentally," said Snuka's attorney. I'm not sure he realized what was going on. I'm not sure what his cognitive abilities are. […] "I don't see it ever getting better.")

* Is suffering from partial dementia stemming from numerous concussions. ("He's had head injuries, just like football players have had head injuries. He's suffered a number of concussions with all the antics he's done.")

* Has limited recall/long-term memory. ("His faculties are so compromised you wouldn't know what he's saying. "He doesn't understand a simple conversation. You put him up against a sharp prosecutor asking, 'Remember 30 years ago when you said this ...,' he has no recollection.")

* Would not have been able to write a book (it was ghostwritten), though it should be noted he was still relatively coherent when it was released two years ago. ("He said he wrote a book. That's kind of comical,") With how the production schedule can go on that type of book, it's likely the author interviewed him closer to four years ago.

* Was bailed out by his first wife, Sharon Georgi. She had testified to the grand jury about Snuka beating her during their marriage.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 21st, but that may be delayed because Moore is unable to represent Snuka at trial due to a prior commitment.

Scott Hall Talks About His Legacy, If He Blames Pro Wrestling For His Personal Troubles, More

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently spoke with fellow Hall of Famer Scott Hall for the FOX Sports website. The full article is at this link. It was noted that Hall took Antabuse during WWE SummerSlam weekend in Brooklyn to help him stay sober. Antabuse makes a person very ill when mixed with alcohol. Hall told JR that he "hated being sick even more than he used to enjoy drinking" so the Antabuse works. It was also noted that WWE previously paid for at least six of Hall's rehab stints and the company suggested he try psychotherapy so that the root problems he was trying to deal with could be addressed instead of just the symptoms.

Below are highlights from JR's interview with Hall:

Hall on Jake Roberts and Diamond Dallas Page offering to help him:

"What did I have to lose? I was drinking myself to death. I don't even know why I answered the phone when Dally and Jake called because I wasn't answering any calls or talking to anyone. I guess it was fate. Jake was one of my professional heroes and Dally was always a great friend. It was just the two of them and me in Page's home."

Hall on the lifestyle he was living:

"I always wanted to be a main eventer in pro wrestling. I lived my dream but the excess of the '80s and the huge money of the '90s became a great temptation for many of us. After working in a main event, on the advice of one of my peers, I took my downers, Xanax was my drug of choice, before I stopped sweating and got into the showers. Then I'd have a few beers on the drive to the hotel and then hit the rack to make that 6 a.m. flight. Some nights we wouldn't go to bed at all and hit the hotel bar and then hit a diner, eat and then get to the airport to sleep on the plane."

Does Hall blame the business for his troubles?

"Absolutely, not. Never. I just blame myself. If I want to know who the culprit is I simply look in the mirror. All my friends that died much too early have themselves to blame and no one else."

His legacy:

"I love the wrestling business, but my Mom never named me Razor. That I did with the blessing of Vince McMahon but, at the end of the day, the wrestling business was always essentially about the money and the miles. My most important legacy is being a good father to my two children."

"My life is like driving down a road. I occasionally glance in the rearview mirror but I'm not focused on the past or looking back anymore. That's why the windshield is bigger than the review view mirror. I prefer to look ahead, make my short term goals, and focus on today. I'm where I'm supposed to be but not where I want to be. Thank God I'm not where I used to be. I'm OK and I'm on my way one day at a time. Help awaits everyone if they truly want it."

WWE Issues Statement On Jimmy Snuka Arrest

As noted, WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka was arrested today and charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. The charges stem from the death of Snuka's then-girlfriend Nancy Argentino back on May 11th, 1983.

WWE issued this statement on the news:

"WWE expresses its continued sympathy to the Argentino family for their loss. Ultimately this legal matter will be decided by our judicial system."

'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka Charged With Murder In 1983 Death Of Girlfriend

A news conference is being held in in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania officially announcing that WWE Hall of Famer "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka has been charged with third degree murder and a lesser included charge of involuntary manslaughter in the 1983 death of Nancy Argentino. While the Allentown Morning Call was the first to report that he's being charged, Sarah Cassi of LehighValleyLive was the first to name the specific charges on her Twitter account:

Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka charged w 3rd-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. Sent to LCJ in lieu of 10 percent of $10K bail.

According to Cassi's ongoing account of the news conference, Snuka is believed to be posting $10,000 bond on $100,000 bail right about now, with the surrender of his passport as a condition of his release. With Snuka undergoing cancer treatment, it was felt that incarcerating him would be an undue financial burden on taxpayers. The grand jury's findings will be released soon, but the district attorney noted that they cited Snuka's inaction in getting Argentino medical attention for her head injury. Snuka appeared before the grand jury, but he didn't testify, while several new witnesses did.

Update On The Man Shot At The WWE Performance Center, Previous Mental Health Treatment

The man shot by a sheriff's deputy on Monday outside of the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, 29 year old fan Armando Alejandro Montalvo, was still in critical condition at the Orlando Regional Medical Center as of Tuesday morning. He had surgery on Monday afternoon when ambulances brought him in.

Many bizarre social media posts by Montalvo have been uncovered since the incident, including one where he is spreading urine and feces on the WWE building. His Facebook page indicates that he submitted a WWE Tough Enough audition video earlier this year but obviously was not accepted. According to Orange County Sheriff's spokesperson Jeff Williamson, Montalvo was previously the subject of a Baker Act order, in which a person can be involuntarily detained for mental health treatment.

Man Shot At The WWE Performance Center Obsessed With Lita?, Comments From His Friend

It appears the man shot at the WWE Performance Center by police on Monday, 29 year old Armando Alejandro Montalvo, was obsessed with Lita. While his social media posts indicate he was obsessed with AJ Lee, he had a large sign for Lita that said "Lita I Love you", a chair and binoculars when he was arrested at the Performance Center back on August 4th.

A deputy wrote that when he was taking the man away by police that day, the man "kept asking if I saw Lita while I was inside the WWE building. Armando kept stating that he loves Lita and that she is attractive. Armando also kept laughing and stating that what was happening is 'awesome.'"

Police said he was obsessed with a female talent who wasn't there yesterday and that could be Lita as Tough Enough filming has ended. August 4th was a Tuesday, which would have been a day Tough Enough filming was going on.

Montalvo's longtime friend Elvis Kalicharan provided these comments to ClickOrlando.com:

"As long as I've known him, he's never gone there with ill intentions. He's just a silly little kid. Mentally, he's just a little kid. He loves wrestling, and this was his dream. He wanted to be a wrestler."

More Bizarre Details On The Man Police Shot At The WWE Performance Center Today

TMZ has confirmed that the man shot by police at the WWE Performance Center today is Armando Alejandro Montalvo.

As noted, the man, who was obsessed with a female WWE talent, was also arrested at the Performance Center on August 4th after an incident. TMZ notes that the man had a string of violent run-ins at the WWE facility and was accused of spreading his feces and urine on the building earlier this summer. He also posted video of himself mixing his waste with reduced fat milk.

TMZ also says the man allegedly showed up at the Performance Center multiple times, wearing a wrestling outfit. One time he was banging on the windows and threatening to kick everyone's ass because WWE wouldn't hire him. On one occasion, the man was swinging a large chain and police had to subdue him at gunpoint.

* Police responded to an incident at a "semi-professional NXT wrestling organization" at 1:30PM ET.

* The man was apparently obsessed with one of the female talents working at the Performance Center. He had recently been arrested and banned from appearing on WWE property.

* Two OCPD deputies responded to the scene and had been told he had a knife. The man began to charge the officers, who retreated "75 to 100 feet backwards" before firing a shot to take down the attacker.

* The man was rushed to the hospital with "a life threatening injury" and is currently in surgery.

* The man has an arrest record, with history of robbery and battery against an officer in the past.

* The officers were in street clothes, with OCPD vests, and gave the subject instructions and multiple warnings, and attempted to retreat from him before opening fire. Only one round was fired. It was not clear whether or not he had a weapon, but the officers had been told he possessed a knife when being called to the scene.

* Corporal Steve Wahl and Deputy Dave Richardson were the two officers at the scene. Wahl fired the shot. At this time OCPD cannot release the name of the man in question.

* There is no indication that the man was a wrestler, or had any relationship with any of the wrestlers at the WWE Performance Center.

* When asked why the officer did not use his taser to take down the attacker, the officer noted that the incident happened very quickly, there was the possibility of a weapon being involved, and officer Wahl made the decision he thought was necessary at the time.
